I suppose this is relatively off-topic, but I always thought when you join the Thieves guild or other Guilds, they should give you a bed and a chest. Just the very basics. In the Ragged Flagon for example, each member has a personal bed and a chest except you. Having the bare-minimum would be crucial to newer characters. Just somewhere to safely stash your loot until you get a home.

OR, you get into the Ragged Flagon training grounds and get up that ladder there to enter the Riften graveyard, after which you have to pull a chain to get some coffin moving away from this 'secret entrance'. =)
