  • what a beatuful cage, feels like he's in the wild again :)

  • This made me very happy : )

  • Me and my mom are thinking of getting my dad a canary for his birthday, thing is we have cats..:\\ any ideas on how to keep the cat away from the canary?

  • my bird does exacty them whistles. is it normal for them to attack there mirrors tho? cos mine does that

  • @15kylie Canaries do not need mirrors or toys. I think mirrors are a silly idea for any bird. Birds like to be around activity; living, moving, talking people, changes of scenery. I think most caged birds die of boredom. I take my canary into the LR when I practice piano, take him up to my BR to listen to the things on my computer (I play bird songs and music for him), talk to him as I cook. He likes to watch my dog, starts singing madly when people come in and we start talking.

  • When I bought second male canary (out of pity, he lived in bad sanitary conditions), my older male canary sometimes used to stop singing at all for long periods of time. Unfortunately younger one did not live long, only couple of years and died from some disease, I guess because he lived in bad conditions in his earlier years. Since the day of his death my older canary doesn't stop singing even during feather molt.

  • I had an American Singer canary who never stopped his beautiful singing until a week before he died at 13 1/2 years old. I tried to never let him get bored; had hooks for his cage in several different rooms and on the back deck. I took him with me on cross-country car trips w/his cage propped up on a pillow in the front seat and lap belt around it. He looked out the window and sang all the way. Spent his whole life enveloped in cigarette/cigar smoke, never had a sick day in his life. Ha.

  • @MiddleDeeping

Why would anyone want a beautiful creature like a canary "enveloped in cigarette/cigar smoke" ? Too bad he didn't have a vocabulary because he probably would have told YOU to get him out of it.. and YOU could live longer if you got yourself out of it. disgusting.

  • @whiteeyelet Ever had a canary live longer than 13 1/2 years, dingbat? When you do, I might listen to you. There is so much stupid info on the web I don't know where to start. "No round cages." (His cage was round.) "Cage min. 20", pref. 24" wide". (His was 10 3/4" diam., 16" tall.) "Let them out to fly around". (They hate being out of their cages--huddle in terror.) "Always cover cage when moving it". (I carried him everywhere uncovered--see cross-country auto trips saga above.) Etc. etc.

  • @whiteeyelet BTW, I'm 84 and I assure you I can't get out of this Walpurgisnacht of a world soon enough.

  • @whiteeyelet Yes?

  • @MiddleDeeping ........... SHUSH

  • @whiteeyelet Scuse me? I posted a factual acct. & you insult me. The absolute max. life expectancy of a canary is 14 years. Mine lived 13 1/2 years in the same rooms (& thousands of miles in a car) with 2 smokers. Which would seem to confirm the (quickly suppressed) 1998 findings of the WHO's massive 7-yr. study re: 2nd-hand smoke: "Fact: The only statistically significant number was a decrease in the risk of lung cancer among the children of smokers." Check Dave Hitt.com "facts/who".

  • This canary is so adorable!! Really love it!! ♥

  • wonderful !

  • Your canary is so precious! This ONE video changed my mind about getting zebra finches! Instead of them, I'm saving for a canary!

  • @amax7895

I finally found homes for my Finches. Although they are sweet little birds, they are VERY messy! But they are wonderful.

  • mY CANARY STOP SINGING WHEN I BROUGHT ANOTHER, THEN I CHANGE IT FOR A FEMALE BUT, MY MALE STILL QUIET (?) ANY RECOMENDATION ? (PLEASE)

  • cool!

  • I wanted to thank your Sunny for singing so beautifully, I played him to my Eve while she was very unwell and his song pulled her through. Thank you xoxo He is beautiful.

  • how long does i take for them to start singing? my sister bought hers yesterday ,but he still wont sing :( , i love your bird he is adorable (:

  • the canary is a roller canary and they are 1 of the best singers of the canaries.. it wont matter if u put a hen in with him he will still sing . in fact he will sing even more..

  • that canarie is a roller. and hes singing because that is what they do. and if u put a hen in with him the singing wont stop quiet the opposit, he will do even more singing.. its just a natural thing for cock canaries espically the rollers they would sing 24/7 if u left them. some experts say a canary will sing when he is horny. but iv been breeding them yrs and some part of that is true. but dont think if u put a hen in with him the singing will stop . IT WONT . and why would u want no singing

  • beautiful!!!!!!! my 6 month old daughter loved it

  • Nice bird, you have taken good care of her, where does she sleep ?

  • He's lovely, thank you for sharing. You can tell he's well loved & cared for.

  • They sing because they want to get laid and establish a territory. The min u get a female the singing ends

  • if you don't mind me asking...what kind of canary is Sunny?

  • If you don't mind me asking..what type of canary is sunny?

  • In my experience, male and female do NOT get along. They will mate period..then it's every bird to himself! You can put them in cages side by side..but I do believe it's a mating call. I've had canaries on and off for 25 yrs. They will tolerate finches in the same cage..but they become dominant and feather yanking may go on!

  • Easyish? LOL.. I think keeping his cage immaculate, fresh food and water daily and the right temps are easyish...

My little guy has started singing again after a YEAR of silence. It's so great to hear him 'at' it again! YaaaaaY !!!

  • im thinking about getting one when i save up enough money i may get to a male and femaile but im not sure. Are they easyish to take care of because i know fintches are easyish?

  • i have a male canary and they are easy to take care of do your homework before you get one

  • Wow! He's fabulous!

  • I absolutely adore birds! I'd love to own a pet canary, but I have a cat and he'd try and eat the poor little thing.

  • Sweet, little birdie. :) I want a canary so badly.

  • ........well then gnrvrfan...put yourself in a cage....it's obvious from your comment that you're retarded !!

  • You live in a house? I think man was made to live outside to.. hop to it my man!

  • You know, i must say that they sing like this because they feel lonely...I have two canaries and when one of them died the other called and called like this until I bought for him another mate. I'm afraid your little bird needs a friend. When they sing together they make much different sounds.

  • They sing to call a mate true. I bought my male a mate and she pecked the hell out of him, she was so mean!! He was not happy at all. Now he is alone and sings daily, I think I will try and get him another mate, because you are right they sing to attract a female... but so beautiful.

  • You could try a male. My canary's new mate is a male and they are good friends.

  • @antalya1705 Just curious did u have a m/f or 2 males or 2 girls, cause i heard that if u put the male and female together they wont sing?

  • @ghostridar1988 I always had two males. I wanted them for their song, did not care for eventual little birds, and the breeder I bought them from clearly told me that male canaries won't sing much when they have a female there. The two I have now are very happy together and sing their heart out happily...without being lonely.

  • @antalya1705 thx a lot!!!!

  • @antalya1705 How can you tell if the canary is a male or female?

  • @antalya1705 Interesting, my canary stopped singing when the canary is still alone.

  • @Wongene In this period it's very normal...they're changing plumage. :)

  • @antalya1705 Oh true! :) Hope your canary lives long! :)

  • @Wongene Thank you! I'm afraid I don't know how to distinguish a male from a female...you'd need a breeder. I know the one I bought mine from blew delicately on the feathers between their legs to see some difference, but I wouldn't be able to tell you which.

  • @antalya1705 Thanks anyways! :D

  • @antalya1705 actually the males sing to attract a female and to let other males know " hey i'm here and i'm big and strong" unhealthy or scared males will not sing, healthy males sing

  • What a beautiful song! <3

  • leave them in the wild, please...you fckg idiots

  • if we leave them wild, theyll fking die u idiot ..

  • @johnhofi um they r in the wild idiot the act of importing birds from other regions is illegal now. All the birds that usee today are from breedes not thiefs. Think before u actually write something that is false.

  • Nice video too. Nice to see a singer in a beautiful environment. Treats the eyes as well as the ears. Nice job.

  • lolol my canary started singing it's heart out when i played this .

  • cute, double cuteness

  • my canary fight the screen when i show him

  • my canary sounds exactly like this !!

and shes has the same name lol.

they sounds so unique in how they sing.

  • if your canary is singing like this one then its not a hen 'female' its a cock 'male'.

    only the cocks sing.

    hope this helps.

  • my ödönke is singing along with sunny :) he started to learn sunny's song. i teach him the best canary songs on youtube 8D

  • I had a canary named Sunny. My cat bit his head off one night, he and his songs are missed.

  • easily fixed bite yr cat's head off :) fucking disgusting creatures i have no idea how u ppl handle them

  • This vid makes my dog go nuts-ola.

  • I have the same canary and his namen is sunny too! but my sunny is very unique he has a black spot on his head (black feathers) and its so amazing

  • Anyone know where i can find good music on the net for my bird?? a bullfinch

  • hes cage looks so tropical :D

  • What a beautiful birdie!

I want to go to Petco to buy one!

  • cool!

  • i have a question. i have one parakeet and i was contemplating getting him a friend. i wanted to get another parakeet but i dont want them to mate. would a canary be a good friend in the same cage or no?

  • no , get the canary in other cage it will be good distraction for the parakeet do not put a canary with any other cage bird to stressful for them will not sing

  • I have a canary and it stopped singing for some reason. I can't tell if its a female or a male?

  • If he/she sings a lot usually, then it's male. Our canary started singing again some days ago. That's because they need anough energy to change their feathers in season.

  • Aww I had a canary just like this one.His name was sunny too :P well sunshine xD

  • LOL..your response to that person made me laugh!

  • what a smart canary

  • I played this in front of my bird (shes a female canary) and she cant sing, but she got so happy to hear that, So thanks for the video

  • i had an orange canery but i think it had a heart attack and he died today at 6:03 pm his name was polly i miss him a lot...

  • that's sad! condolences man!

  • I had 2 of them and i wanted to give them a bath, but i guess i washed them to DEATH.. i miss them.

  • your supposed to put a small plate not to deep fill it with water and place it at the bottom of you canaries cage you so dam stupid

  • you so dam nerdy

  • Thats a stereotype often given to intellectual being :P

  • Comment removed

  • aww hes such a cute bird. I have uploaded a video of my bird, check it out.

  • he sounds like the dial up tone hehe nice bird

  • it's looks like tweety bird!!! i bet tweety bird is based on the canary!!!

  • Sounds like a police car or a Power Ranger toy :D

  • i got a orange canary and i'm proud of it.

  • It sounds like one of those toys from Chinatown where it sounds like its charging its laser or something.

  • aww, i have a canary too! :D his so cute and he sings like crazy, and right now his singing because he heard this! :D

  • cute bird

  • loool my dad bought me a new canary (today) & i was bored i wanted ma canary 2 sing so i opend this link and now my canary is singing...XD its owsom ''u can try it peeps..peaceout bye

  • but i thought the males sing to attrack the female....

  • no also the female can sing but not with so many varieties and not as loud

  • I'm sure 100% that the males can sing, females cannot sing at all!! This one is definatly male!!!

  • how can we tell if a canary is a boy or a girl ???

  • 1st: sings-male doesnt sing- might be a female, but cant be sure

2nd: look at the ass... blow the feathers away. if its big and swollen- female, if its small and rather pointy- male

  • awesome description XD I'll keep this in mind if I ever get a canary =)

  • if i touch a canary it bites me lol( random)

  • Cool cage cool canary perfect voice :D

  • Sorry, I forgot to rate it, 11 out of 10!

  • Fantastic! I lost my little Bert about 18 months ago, and before he got ill he sounded just like this. I miss him terribly. Thanks for bringing back to life a replica of my little boy.

  • Beautiful!!

  • Funny, if i play this my canary birds begin looking for the source and shortly thereafter, the male begins imitating this very song.

  • I love Sunny. I play him to my Canaries and it makes them sing back. Sunny actually taught my first male Canaries to sing. They never made much of a peep till I showed them what they were suppose to be doing. LOL!

  • rock on little dude!!!

  • WOW! So that's what a canary sounds like? COOL!

  • wow my canery sing jst like that!

  • beautiful canary, beautiful voice, beautiful cage!!!!

  • my birds name is sunny too

    and hes a canary xD

  • i'm goning to have a maliuna canar tomorrow morning. And i'm looking for good singing canaries here. So i see that, ur canary is singing like a champion:) İ wish mine will do that too:)

  • very nice cage

  • Yeah nice cage.... All with natural stuff in it.... If i were a bird... i'd want it like that

    :P

  • sunny has a great voice!! he's a very talented canary

  • What a sweet singer Sunny is! I just adore my canary, Caruso, too! Happy Holidays!!!

  • sunny has a great voice!! and also a cool cage lol

  • how come my canary wont sing at all, it only does small queeks

  • it might be female

  • True, or as mine, slightly overweight as my little Yoshi eats too much... Weird, but true. :o)

  • Sounds kinda like a war. helecopters shooting bullets in the distance.K-A-B-O-O-M

  • Haha yes i agree very funny :P

  • yeah it does! LOL

but no offense to the Canary bords...I have 2!

  • hehe yeah but my canary use to sing like that

    so cute

  • well red factors do sing ....i have 30of them all the males sing with nice tunes..and i breed them ...no problems..they no diffrent to yeloow canaries...and i say khoshtepp is right they do colour feed them..mine goes pale when is malting season i have t coour feed them to go red again...so its not the breed...

  • Actually the redfactor was brought about by hybridizing with the now-endangered venezualan red siskin. While this enhanced their color, it decreased their singing ability and breeding ease. The song-type varieties take the cake, but some red factors can really belt one out, too. My american singer is a rock star but if he shuts up for a minute (rare) my red factor is impressive too.

  • and one more thing red dosent mean th ecanary is ot a singer ..you just colour feed them ..they no diffrent to yellow..during malting season they change colour so you have to colour feed them again..and this canary is called a chopper canary for those who dont know..it sings loud and nice with its beak open ..now take care seeya

  • i have some canaries which i wouldnt even cell to you for $1000...not all canaries are the same..yes all males sing but most sing crap and only during spring time..then is over..for the nicer irds which sing all year round they are well over $400 now i persoanlly would pay $200 for this bird in this vid ..

  • i breed canaries i have 300 of them and red factor older males do sing very nicelly and loud wiht nice tones ,,but you have to leave a recorded voice there for them when they young to learn the tones ..non of you know anything ..ad yes bache kon is right i have some canaries that i put alone in small cage and they sing 12 months a year..it all depands on the type of the bird..and buddy there are canaries which are priceless..your bredding crap for $90...

  • Sunny the canary rocks! Great trills.

  • bachekon is lyien he just mad he dont have one i a have a all white girl and a brown nd yellow boy they lov each other

  • its yeloow moron..your colour blind lol i have a red factr at home sings 50 million times better than this..they not natrually red they colour feed them ..i paid $400 for mine sings 12 months a year 12 hours every day his a legand haha

  • ok, you paid $400 for a canary? i breed canaries and i feel guilty if i charge someone $90. i breed red factors and recessive whites from "best of show" lineage. you got ripped off.

  • oh and by the way, no canary sings 12 months of the year, when they moult part of the brain that controls singing dies off and that is why they stop singing during the moult. the first year of life the bird may only moult a few feathers and may continue to sing, but every year after that there will be a full moult with alot more feather loss.

  • Actually, the first time my canary molted, he was quiet for months. He got very stressed out. He wouldn't even make a peep.

Since then, he's gotten used to molting, and will sing during molting season.

Actually now, I feel like he's yelling at me sometimes. He starts singing like crazy when I'm trying to have a conversation with someone.

The first few months that I had him, he would start singing at 6 in the morning and wouldn't shut up until 7 at night. He was quite a handful at first.

  • and furthermore, red factors are FAR from the best singers, they are not even considered song birds for competition purposes, they are for exhibited for color

  • looks like a red factor

  • wonderful!

  • Is that a Fife? His songbox is half the size of his whole body!

  • aww it sings well. It is just the same with mine. But I donnow the species. Do anyone know the specy of that canary??

(check mine its the same "halit222")

  • i miss having a canary... waking up to their singing in the morning. Ahhh, it was the best.

  • very nice decorations..i have two canaries at home..

  • could you help me, canaries are new to me, what do i need to know. do i need two males for them to sing? how much time will i have to spend with them or do they keep themselves company? thanks anyone!xx

  • 1 canary male is enough. He will sing himself withut any company. Concerning time, canaries are not very demanding. You can leave them alone with seeds, some green lettecue and water even for 4 days. Wish you best satisfaction from the winged friend.

  • if you leave the same water for 4 days then your bird is sucking E. coli soup, that is disgusting. shame on you, change the water everyday and wash out the vessel, especially if you use vitamins

  • Great vid and I've rated it as 5 stars. Please check out mine on some 1930's Aviary and Cage Bird tobacco cards.

  • You got to feel good about Sunny and his happy singing. It's my favorite of all the ones I have seen posted and I am using 'Sunny' as a tutor to try to prompt my new canary (Goldy) into singing. Thanks for the video!

  • yours have a more solid and strong musical tone than Gaucho.

  • What species? Beautiful song.

  • May I ask what are all the plants and stuff you have hanging round the cage? I've had my canary Arthur since christmas, when I first brought him home he would sing but now it looks like he is trying and just can't. He is molting atm and I've read they don't sing when they are. But it looks like he is trying to have a chat when I play your video.

  • I love Sunny he is so sweet, I have 2 canaries but they dont sing quite like that! Sunny is Beautiful

  • Wow, with a beautiful aviary like that, it's no wonder he's singing! :)

  • What a lovely bird!

  • awww ur canary is beautiful
