with all the preservatives put in it and all the "extras" that are not necessary, it's not a wonder americans have become some of the most obese people in the world. combine non natural products in food and no exercise and you have and recipe for weight gain!
I can vouch for the living in Europe thing. I currently live in Norway and I eat the same IF NOT MORE while here. Whenever I go home for visits i put on weight fast than i acn take it off - and I eat exactly the same things! I am a competative swimmer who trains around 8 to 10 times a week just in the water (this is not counting the dryland) - and it seems no matter what I do, when i return for a visit home, the pounds just pack on faster than I can blink my eyes. food in the states is aweful.
They are contradicting themselves, here. Fructose is the sugar found in fruits. What they should have said is processed sugars. Our bodies know how to deal with the natural sugars in fruits, but not the unnatural ones such as high fructose corn syrup.
Like sugar, honey and some fruit juices, high fructose corn syrup contains almost equal portions of fructose and glucose. Glucose has been shown to have a tempering effect on specific metabolic effects of fructose.
New research continues to confirm that high fructose corn syrup is no different from other sweeteners. It has the same number of calories as sugar and is nutritionally the same.
Obesity rates are rising around the world even though the use of high fructose corn syrup outside of the U.S. is limited. Sugar is the primary sweetener in most parts of the world.
The bottom line is that no single food or ingredient is the sole cause of obesity -- rather the primary cause is too many calories and too little exercise. Replacing high fructose corn syrup with sugar will not reduce obesity or improve health. They are the same.
Uh, yeah, right. I was in Europe, and ate like I eat in the US, and I lost weight. I came back, and ate things similar in nature to what I ate in Europe, and I put some weight back on. Coincidence? I think not.
Exactly. I've actually found that when I crave something sweet for my sweet tooth, sometimes I eat more fruit than I would eat candy, but I feel better overall. Plus, there's a difference in how I feel afterwards. HFCS seems to make me lethargic and when it's waning, moody, and fructose has the opposite effect.
Yeah, fat makes you fat, sugars makes you fat, proteins make you fat, salt makes you fat. Death actually makes you thin :)

KIND OF HARD ITS IN LIKE 99% OF THINGS!
crazystuffproduction 3 years ago
Yeah, but you can still avoid the foods that have large amounts of it. Basically if it's sweet and has HFCS in the ingredients I don't eat it.

Yeah I've been known to spend some time there.
The best way to lose weight is eat fresh vegetables and fruit, and run. Working out with light weight(more reps) also helps.
