Or you put it in AUTO ISO to shutter speed minimum of 1/60 and leave it in program mode. simple.

@Ibthai Even with a f/1.4 at iso 800 a little fill flash may help with the shadows. There is another technique called dragging the shutter which may be interesting to try out.

with a 50mm f/1.4, that should be a fast enough lens to forego the flash, no?

@lbthai F/1.4 is such a shallow depth of field that you'll barely want to shoot that wide open. You will usually want to stop down a little bit.
