Visit websites that feature products and items made of leather. Decide what it is you would like to make.
Then watch how to videos, get some books, poke around. When I was a kid there was none of this. You live in a world of information available at your fingertips and you obviously can use a computer. So you're actually already on your way : )
Focus on what your initial vision was. Then just get your hands busy. The leather will teach you too if you let it ~
In my college days my friend Ed showed me some basic stuff. That summer we went to Montreal and had a 'while you wait' custom sandal booth at an artisans' flea market. The following summer in New Hampshire I set up on the front porch of a State owned souvenir shop that was like an old country house. It overlooked Profile Lake at the base of Old Man of the Mountain, the state symbol of N.H.
I also had a little workshop in the local health food store in Franconia, N.H.
@otaypanky2 I guess had I watched Part 3 before asking I could have saved you the time, but your letter count skills are equally impressive as your strap making abilities so at least we learned that about you! ;-)
