One of my main points has been that we DON'T get a wide variety of opinion on YouTube (in videos or comments) from anons regarding the acceptability of hacking people's accounts, threatening critics, etc. Many anons have been great with me in discussion -- as you have been -- but the number who are willing to explicitly disapprove of the hacking of critics' accounts etc. can be counted on one hand. That makes for a pretty well-supported generalization.

Whether such hypothetical murderers were real anons or not, the point is that the collective would (I believe; this is just my opinion) strongly dissociate itself from the act. It would work hard to persuade the public that, to use your words, "Anon does not condone murder for free speech never has never will." I don't hear you or any other anon making comparable statements about hacking strong critics' accounts, distributing people's personal information over the Internet, death threats, etc.

I assume (I hope correctly) that if a group of anons committed a serious act of violence (e.g., murder) against a harsh critic of Anonymous, and did so IN THE NAME OF ANONYMOUS, that Anonymous would publicly disassociate itself from the act in no uncertain terms, and strongly condemn it. Here I assume you would NOT say: "We are not each others' keeper, or mother...[and that these sorts of things] "are at each persons discretion and whatever morals guide them."

Because, while a murder carried out in the name of Anonymous would set in motion an enormous amount of activity within the collective which would result in a public condemnation of the act, hacking people's accounts (death threats, distributing their personal info, etc.) does not. That says something about the nature of the collective.

Not so with Anonymous. That's why you don't see many people being critical of Anon here on YouTube, either in comments and videos (though the numbers are slowly growing). They don't feel safe doing it.
