actually, before Danny Elfman turned to film composing, he was in an New Wave band called Oingo Boingo which combined New Wave/punk music with Gothic tones. Elfman was lead singer.

you know what's interesting? I was just reading a wikipedia article about Voltaire and found out that one of his influences for his music is Danny Elfman! That could explain the Jack Skellington quality of his voice.
