Why was this not implemented? These things look like they should be in every American home by now. I mean, I know some of them are ridiculous...a dishwasher in a dining table ;-) but still, pretty cool and foward thinking concepts!
We have gone beyond what was shown, including the sexist idea of "women's work" by the 70's..back then, it was all "style" and no "function"...at least we learned to combine the two by the 90's!
It really depresses me seeing how good things were heading in 60/70's.. People were really looking forward to the future, as if it was inspiration for many.. Today we have no style, no uniqe thought.. But we got more dirt, scum and shit on the streets. I can't really express those feelings I have to retrofuturism even though I never really experienced it due to my young age.
i think people were psychologically more advanced then than we are now the only thing we got better is the technology nowadays and i'm not even sure if that's a good thing..
The table is the console of the TARDIS! Also, I've been watching these "house of the future" clips all night, and every one of them has those drink dispensers. It's like everyone in the fifties wanted the drink and ice cream bar from the Golden Corral in their kitchen.
How could they have predicted what the future would be like? They didn't have the technology. I like kitchens how they are now. I'm fed up with all this stupid new technology like plasma tvs. I bet they didn't predict that. Mind, people in the 50s had no idea what technology would be like. They were optimistic and looking forward to having new updates unlike now. We're terrified of the future.
@Avellania Not really, we have the technology to do all of this and a lot better, but we don't because in fact the ideas they had for the future back then are stupid.
Haha!
Why did everything have to come out of the wall? That's friggin' stupid!

Thanks. I am doing a 1960s short film and wanted to know where i could find 1960s commercials and accurate portrayal of 1960s modern homes.

Watching this video, it is amazing to see how much society and technology has decayed since.

"You can easily prepare a meal all by yourself" Yeah, they're called microwave meals, but trust me, it's not what you call fine eating.
