Sadly, tight schedules and extended tour committments take their toll on most performers. Its a shame that we knew less about Karen's illness back then, than we do now. Thirdly, the composer of the orchestra is one of the greatest composers of all time, James Last.

I still contend that Karen should have been in (proper, effective) treatment immediately following the release of Christmas Portrait. That was her window...
even being as tired and sick as she was at this point in her E.D. she still out sang any other performer known... she was the best of the best! and she always put on a show for everyone! rip much love
I agree - this flurry of euro TV shows and videos following the release of Made in America must have also took their toll... They didn't need to be doing this, but I imagine A&M (& probably Richard) felt compelled to get the exposure for sales...
@reymansd - The album was a much bigger hit overseas, so they went to the places where it did well. This song however, I think it's one of the worst, right up there with there cover of "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" = those two songs are the only ones I can think of that I always skip past.
the man is julio iglesias. he was known for doing silly things like that, like his celebrity afforded it. karen was clearly not well here...looking very tired. he took a risk doing that to her. she could easily have had a nose bleed, being that her health defenses were so down at the time. note the man in between julio and karen, his shock...and note the camera quickly moved away from them. karen is wearing an outfit that I believe was featured in their 1980 special M3, or music - music - music

If you look at the stage, there are NO microphones anywhere near the lady! Also, the actual song has the original Tony Peluso guitar work - right down to the harmonic! But as I said before, the lady has the right to 'lip-sync' her own work and, if she was ill at the time her voice probably wasn't at its best. Finally, to get that smooth polished sound usually needs proper studio conditions. :-)

You will very rarely find a flaw anywhere in her recordings. Everyone lip synched then, that is just the way things were done in those days. And you are right, she was a great artist. I'm not sure that she has sung all performances live. A majority of them are live, but if she were ill, she would have asked to use a song-track. The woman is not a machine.
