This is like my 72nd time listening to this song. And I just now got the point, or at least I feel I'm closer. I thought he was talking about needing love, and understanding, from other people, but he's actually talking about needing those qualities. Like, he needs understanding, not to be understood. He needs love, not to be loved. That's how I'm taking it now anyway. The song makes more sense thematically now. But I still may be way off. :)

I have loved watching/listening to this band progress as musicians. They have a great message to send, and they have not settled for mediocrity as people or musicians. I feel that this new chain of EP's has really shown some of Mae's talent and dedication toward music, unity, and love, which sets them apart from other groups in this genre. I just started listening to Mae. I heard a few songs and was unimpressed, but this song....is amazing. Very rarely do I say this about any song, but this song is perfect in every way; great guitar, bass, and drum playing, good voice, meaningful lyrics, complex and smooth transitions between several different parts, and a positive message! i cant get enough of mae. they just get better with age. its been awhile since embers and envelopes the first song i ever heard and each album since that first one reveals a band who wants to be true musicians and artists not a hollow catchy band with just the right hooks to get rich and famous. God Bless them bc their music actually fills a space in me that would be otherwise empty. wish i could meet them and jam with them someday.
