  • so i just did this myself, my shoulder feels like shit, but hey it worked.

  • This is the crap that get people hurt of killed. Dumb people putting dumb stuff on the internet and saying don't try this at home

  • That is just way too crazy, you guys kill me with your stuff. Thanks for posting all your videos, keep 'em coming!

  • You guys should look at the picture of the soldier who used a .50BMG as a hammer and blew his hand off.

  • i am so trying that

  • @DracoC47 You didn't hear what they said did you?

  • wtf just happened?

  • You are stupid. The gun can explode and hurt/kill yourself...

  • im suprised that round didn't explode in the chamber!

  • 0:01 that bullet looks like a bonner

  • @MrTj159789 are you retarted?

  • @jay4201203461003

    Retarded*

  • Well I now know how to get brass to make .700 NE xD.

  • anyone else catch the ".454 outta the .410"?

    hmm...what else "shouldnt" we try?

  • At a passing glance, the thumbnail for this video looks like a dude giving a massive middle finger to the camera.

  • Please do me just one favor, especially with all of this controversy on firearms, please don't say, even if you're joking, that you will come to said person's town and shoot out street lights. If the wrong person reads this, it could cause a world of trouble for responsible gun owners. Based on how I've seen you conduct yourselves in this video, I believe you are also in the category of responsible gun owners, just please be careful of what you say. Thank You

  • @IGivesNoFuck That's a good point. Non-gun owners end up primarily seeing the bad things the minority of people do with guns so if we want to demonstrate that the vast majority of owners are responsible people, then we need to always behave with maturity about the subject. Otherwise gun owners look reckless and appear to be "part of the problem". I know the feeling because before college I used to be somewhat anti-gun. Seeing more of the mature side of gun owners changed my point of view.

  • @rygor. Don't you mean Ronnie Barrett? He invented the M82A1 and founded Barrett firearms.

  • If this works then why the fuck does H&R tell me I can't have rifle barrels on a shotgun receiver?

  • I WAS SUPRIZED TA NOT SEE THE SHOT GUN,BLOW UP!,.50s ARE A LIL HOTTER THAN A SHOT GUN ROUND,.LETS YA KNOW,.YER SHOT GUN WAS A GOOD ONE!,.VERY INTRESTING AND I WOULDENT TRY THIS AT HOME!!,.NOW,..MAYBE THE GUN RANGE?,.OK,.MAYBE NOT!,.GREAT INFO!!,..LOVE YER SHOOTIN GUTS!!,.Chief

  • i'll stick with the .44 mag fom a .410

  • dumbass redneck hillbillies

  • @HEZBULL666 jealous emo faggit

  • @HEZBULL666 how are the dumbasses? a dumbass would of shoulderd the thing.

  • @HEZBULL666 Hill billies will probably save your pathetic little life in the apocalypse, so stay anonymous like a little pussy. :)

  • .50 shotgun

  • I engineered a pistol that shoots 50 bmg

  • @eliteblast thats not engineering thats stupidity :o

  • @hearv888 And that is why you'll never get anything done in life. :)

  • @ref4nej2 what??

  • @hearv888 Do you have reading troubles?

  • @ref4nej2 It was a joke, i understand.. i just wasn't in the mood to understand it when i read it..

  • I did this yesterday to take out a tank

  • thank you for doing all these experiments.

  • Why are you firing the wrong ammunition through a firearm? What is the point of this? Quote: 'Don't try it....you've been warned' - then why did you? This seems irresponsible to me.

  • @sean1121970 for shits... what hell did you think??

  • @appv12 THAT'S THE DUMBASSED ATTITUDE THAT WORKS FOR THE ANTI GUN LOBY!!! Wake up dipshit!

  • @sean1121970 Go check out Hickock45- He's responsibe AND has fun- I'd shoot with him anytime- these guys need to grow up!

  • Dude! Sweet experiment!

  • i was wondering if its possible to produce a battle rifle that spits out .50 BMG rounds without it recoiling like a monster, and can use twenty round magazines?

  • @DaddyLongLegs44 they already made one out of a AR-15

  • @L19R was the gun called? and is she civilian legal?

  • @DaddyLongLegs44 - He's probably talking about the Alexander Arms Beowulf upper. It doesn't fire a .50 BMG though, it fire's a .50 Beowulf.

  • Anything that will move down the barrel of a shotgun without binding can be safely fired.

(if you are not altering the powder charge).

Normal chamber pressures in modern shotguns are not that high.

If a deer slug, or fishing weight fits the bore it can be fired.

As long as it does not stick inside of the bore it is no different than shooting a common load.

I am sure that there are ways to blow up a shotgun but I have never personally seen it done or heard of anyone doing it.

  • I wanna do this!!!! lol jk

  • now try holding it and firing it

  • WHat if barry was walking back from turning the saftey and stepped on the rope and it went off hmmmm

  • Dont do this! In no way attempt to jerry rig you own $200 .50 BMG shotgun to shoot safe hinges off or destroy a cop car engine block in your getaway! Do not try this at home because it works way too good! We make a good portion of money sellin Barretts what do you think John Barrett would do if we sold H&R single shot 12 ga/.50 BMG shotguns?

  • @rygorRYGOR111 unless you are the mythbusters

  • @rygorRYGOR111 Sure, but you probably wont hit it with much energy. Since the barrel diameter is large on a 12 gauge, there isn't a seal and most gas goes around it. I bet the muzzle velocity isn't more than 100-200 fps. It'd probably be as effective as shooting a .17

In a non-break action shotgun, the blowback would be worse than the shot.

  • @AustinRoepke Yea i know i was makin a joke about it 12 Gauge barrel diameter is .73 cylinder choke where the .50 BMG is well .50 what they should try is a 20 gauge id dont know if you know but they should a 20 gauge will seat in a 12 gauge almost exactly like the .50 BMG it will seat at the end of the chamber same place as .50 20 gauge being .614 i dont think the .50 BMG casing will fit in the 20 ga chamber tho dremel it to fit and test with 30 foot of string like them haha

  • @rygorRYGOR111 Who's John Barrett? Are you referring to Ronnie Barrett?

  • @SamHagagaga John Barrett is the father and owner of company ronnie i think is his son who invented the .416 barrett round and the gun that fires it also did some work on the .50 BMG Barrett with his father.

  • @rygorRYGOR111 No, Ronnie founded the company.

  • Must wear old camouflage when making videos of guns. Must wear shades, must wear black. Must wear old camouflage and give the impression I am previous military training.

  • Tempting to do this Eric. Why must you tempt me :/

  • @wraith3845 google wildcatting. that is basically what this video shows and it is awesome and is perfectly legal. not exactly safe, but not many things are everything from driving a cab to working on a car can be dangerous. life wouldnt be worth living without risk.

  • @deltaomegaable I'm not going to tip toe through life just to die at the end

  • @JcXtreme72 then you might as well die now lol. that is the dumbest comment ive ever seen anyone write.

  • Now reload the brass :)

  • @hugh705 A 16gage slug might fit that brass..

  • Fire it on one of them exploding targets!

Why are those legal by the way???

Gotta go fertilize my lawn now... he he he...

  • LOL, in the video thumbnail, I thought you were flipping us off.

  • .50 cal shotgun? i want one!

  • Awesome experiment, thanks for posting!

  • Some one had to try it better you than me. Outstanding!

  • Its absolute morons like you who are dumb enough to post this on you tube that give the antis fuel for there fire. Doing this in the back 40 with your friends hey OK but posting this on the tube you brain dead morons what the fuck is wrong with you. Are your mom and dad brother and sister or what

  • @mannexx111 Better to have him do it and post it, than to have some stupid kid try it at home and kill himself. They both may be fuel for the fire, but this is the lesser of two evils.

  • @mannexx111 ya cuz baning break action shotguns capable of doing this is high on the priorty list of the anti gun people. And what does it matter what gun is used to do this. I could go to the local gun shop and buy a 50 bmg sniper if i had 5 grand or buy a h&r shotgun and do the same thing. all they are doing is shooting a round.

  • @mannexx111 Yes, being totally safe, locking the gun in a vise, hiding back away from it.

Do you say the same thing about mythbusters? that they make gun owners look bad? cause it honestly could be the same thing.

  • A 12 gauge chamber is rated for a maximum of 11,000 psi. For a firearm, that's pretty low. This is very unsafe. .50 BMG creates a chamber pressure of 54,800 psi.

  • @benner2000 thats the point

  • that has to me the most irresponsible dangerous stupid thing I have seen done with a weapon. the steel on the shotgun barrel is no where thick enough, the projectile has no straight path so it could come out of side of the barrel, you could die from shrapnel. even worse you could kill someone else that round has a killing range of about 4 miles dumb dumb dumb.....

  • @wraith3845 4 miles....and youre calling them dumb? If a round fails so horribly and catastrophically that it blows up your gun, its not going to have a 4 mile kill zone, its simple physics. Even if it did, they're doing this on their own property with a big testing ground, there prolly wasn't even anyone within that radius.

  • @The3rdID How do you know where it was done ? and if the round penetrated the barrel of the gun god knows where it could have went. and your right calling them dumb is inappropriate, they are close to fucking brain dead, that's better. and I'm not sure who's more dumb them, or you for defending them lol

  • @wraith3845 Well for one thing they have almost 400 videos up showing and explaining where they are. Two, did you see how much unburned powder there was? No way that thing had enough velocity to make it off their testing grounds. Three, even if it did explode, it would have only killed them, who you dont like, so why are you complaining about it? Im not defending them, im just pointing out why YOURE wrong, it has nothing to do with them being right or smart. It has to do with you being wrong.

  • @The3rdID What did I say that was wrong ? did I say that round could have gone 4 miles and kill someone ? no. I stated that that round has almost a 4 mile kill range. So I'm guessing what you're telling me I'm wrong about is anything could have happened in that situation and that it was stupid and irresponsible? and they had NO idea they would have unburned powder.....

  • @wraith3845 "even worse you could kill someone else that round has a killing range of about 4 miles" That is a direct quote from you. That clearly states that you think that round could have gone almost 4 miles and killed someone. Thats not true, theres no way that thing could have done that. The only way it could do that is if it was fired properly from a finely machined rifle or M2. No way in hell some hillybilly blowing himself up with a shitty shotgun is going to make anything go that far.

  • @wraith3845 It went threw 4 feet of water....its not going very far after going threw 4 feet of water. They have every right to do it if they want, they aren't breaking any laws. If you don't like it then don't go do it yourself. If they want to, they can.

  • @wraith3845 yea dude. a 50 caliber fired normally could barely go 4 miles anyway.

  • @OutdoorsLifeNC Wrong, the round can travel up to 6 miles.

  • Comment removed

  • BASTARDS!! HOMER'S BUCKETS ARE EXPENSIVE

  • So, is it possible to fireform .50 shells (using fireforming loads obviously) into 12 bore shells?

  • @RobertoDonatti

Yes, but you should anneal the ends first. Use 20-30 grains Herco+wad+plus Cream of wheat as the buffer. Fire straight up, overshot cards. And it would be 12 Gauge not 12 Bore. In actuality 12 Bore is Artillery or ship guns. ie 12 naval guns ...

  • Poor vise...

  • Does Barry always dress like that?

  • your combat pants are a little short there berry.

  • dont dew eit

  • "Aw Man that didn't do jack squat" haha!

  • could you trim the case to length and use it as a brass shotshell..

  • @blackriflex39 Yes there is a history of guerilla soldiers doing this exact thing in vietnam. shortening shells to make then shotgun shells.

  • @b0xcrash well,it's a shame that politicians dont allow us to buy rifles but be sure that every household has one or two or maybe more shotguns (in many vilages a shotgun corresponds to a man)

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY NON-AMERICAM WATCING REDNECK VIDEOS . I LIVE IN GREECE , HERE WE ARE AS CRAZY AS SOUTHERN AMERICANS ,MAYBE MORE THAN THEM, BUT WE ALL SHARE THE LOVE ABOUT GUNS.

  • @mrHoss80 Yep. Well said. Greece has good gun ownership rights? had no idea... "most" larger european countries I hear about have very strict and pointless gun laws

  • Great, I always wanted to know how to fire form 50 bmg into 12 ga. Very useful info.. like tits on a bull.

  • @HalfLifeAMD Couldn't agree more. What was the point?

  • @Wondershadow100 im thinking it's just mainly to get video hits. Also i think that single shot is a lot stronger then what they figured..my guess was to have it fail, blow apart etc. I think the better topic of this video..at least to explain the stupidness of shooting a 50bmg in a 12ga is to show how strong the action is on that particular make.model of shot gun..other then that..i have no idea what the point of this video is..LOL

  • that is a really BAD IDEA....but it looks really fun none the less!!!

  • @TheJamesloy ya if you shoot the tree out from under them.

  • i just found my new deer gun(:

  • @ipaintyou1 new squirrel gun

  • how accurate was it?

  • You'll shoot your eye out kid.

  • Now reload the freshly fire formed brass and take another shot. Seems logical to me.

  • That is something I would do...LOL...

  • at 1:02 it almost looks like you can see the bullet for a split second.

  • Are there any machinists that can mill and lathe a .50BMG barrel for a single shot 12 gauge?

  • @natedawg357 Most machinists could, but the real question is "Would a single shot shotgun hold up to the pressure?" The reason their gun didn't explode was because there was no gas seal between the bullet and the walls of the barrel and the gas could escape around the sides of the bullet. If you had a real .50 cal barrel made, it might blow your receiver apart because of the tremendous strain it would place on a weak frame. 12 gauge chamber pressure- 11,500 PSI. .50 BMG chamber pressure- 55,000

  • @YoungGun243 You are correct, but I would think that an aftermarket barrel designed to fire .50 BMG would be a bit thicker and of a harder steel, otherwise they would have many lawsuits against them ;) LOL

  • @XHustonProductionsX I know that, but I'd be more worried about the back pressure on the breech face, and the stress on the hinge pin. Doesn't matter how good the barrel is, I just don't think the average locking system could take that much punishment.

  • @YoungGun243 I was just being a smart-ass LOL and if you had a muzzle brake on the barrel I think a shotgun could take it, without a brake it would be too much recoil for most people anyways but shotguns are made for alot of slow, heavy recoil... .50 BMG is a fast heavy recoil...

  • lol disregard my last comment, I think I rather not take the chance of me blowing myself up. I just realized they sell AR-15 50BMG uppers, and I might go that route

  • @saik0pod just put a rock river .458 socom upper on it, its goes good with a factory .223/5.56 lower, you can even put 10 rounds of .458 socom in a 30 round 5.56 mag, and only around $600 bucks

  • @Iraqveteran8888 I gotta try this, I don't want to spend over $7000 getting a .50 BMG rifle which I almost did. I'll be on the range this sunday trying this on a maverick 88 18" smoothbore. If I manage not to kill myself, I will tell you the results.

  • @saik0pod It won't be accurate or powerful, there is no rifling and no gas seal in the bore because the bore diameter of a 12 gauge is .729 inches and the bullet from a .50 BMG is .510 inches. The bullets will tumble and veer off to one side after leaving the muzzle. That said, it will spit out some very cool and VERY expensive .50 cal ammo and maybe impress your friends, but for all practical purposes it's wasteful, useless and stupid.

  • @YoungGun243 $ 5.00 a shot at that wasted !

  • @thebizkit79 $5.00 is pretty cheap for the .50 these days. Some ammo is running at nearly $15 and up.

  • those little hr single shots are indestructible lol

  • is it weird that im Filipino and watch redneck videos with a passion?

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Hahaha, I am Samoan and have not missed an episode in months.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 I consider myself an island redneck.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 oh good gosh, story of my life

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 rednecks come in all nationalities and colors

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Nope. Filipinos love guns.

  • @hjjfffaa And machetes. And if that isn't handy, an Rattan stick will do just fine as well.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Thats the Spirit!

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Not at all, I am too!

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Only if it doesn't give you a chubby.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Rednecks are the most awesome people on Earth, gota love em, Im from KY

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Maybe you are a Filipino redneck

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Hey, I'm Filipino too, and I often watch videos like this.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1: Hell no, we rednecks are good people. We're hard working and intelligent people (when it comes to things worth knowing).

Sure the majority of us jam Southern rock all the time and get drunk, but that's better than being a sober Twilight nerd!

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 no, they are actually what built that country.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 No Kuyan you just kick ass

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 nope, because im Filipino and im watching this video too, lol

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Guess you like common wisdom and people who try to figure things out. Welcome to the family.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 You're probably one of the few Filipinos who understand what a redneck is. My Filipino wife is still confused after my attempted explanation.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Enjoy...it's a universal pastime. Brings us all closer together, cause there's a little redneck in everyone.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 No, I'm a treehugging vegetarian and love to see targets blow up

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 no. it is inspirational, and forward thinking on your part.

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 I was stationed in San Fernando, La Union once, in 1990. There were rednecks living there, back then. I strongly suspect that they still do. Lol

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 thats the thing about firearms, its not redneck its a passion, and the only sport that does not discriminate on what race you are..... at the range and behind the trigger, egos mean nothing, and its the only place where men are created equal... unless you cant hit the broadside of a barn standing right next to it.. yea then your screwed :o)

  • @nicholasgaerlan1 Rednecks are world-wide brother.

  • the cartridge neck opens up and the resulting pressures are likely far lower, which is why it didn't KB. still pretty interesting to see.

  • I tried this and died. What should I do?

  • @ByRecentDesign

    Try again.

  • @ByRecentDesign revive yourself

  • @ByRecentDesign just hang in there.

  • @ByRecentDesign haha

  • @ByRecentDesign dude you are soo fucking funny maybe you should be a comedian ass

  • @ByRecentDesign Respawn and try agian

  • @ByRecentDesign respawn and camp another corner

  • now, a fire-formed 50bmg case is exactly on the nose .700" wide, anyone have a bullet cast for 70 caliber? :D

  • @burningsponge haha, let's do it! And then we'll build an AR chambered in .70big :D

  • Why not try a .600 or .700 nitro express in there?

  • @CornMakesWhiskey because, 60$ a round (that's just the .600) is a little bit too much, and i don't think it's fit ;D

  • @burningsponge Well the whole point of the vid is to "see if it will work"... If it dosn't fit then they have a really cool round to display at the shop...

I have a sneaking suspicion a .600 will fit since 12ga is give or take .70cal? Hell you might even be able to jam a .700 in there.

Yes it would be pricey but it would be EPIC!!!!

  • @CornMakesWhiskey .600" =/= .70"

the 600NE wouldn't fit, the 50 cal only fit because its base is .804 (pretty much right up with the rim of a 12 gauge) so i'd expect the .700 to fit MAYBE but the shotgun would break for sure and hunters would shed a huge tear at broken 700 brass.

  • @burningsponge Interesting... so your saying a .600 nitro is bigger than a .700? I am not saying you are wrong... I just never knew that. I assumed the .600 was a straight walled case all the way to the rim & thought the same to be true for a .700...

Perhaps a .577nitro would fit if the .600 wont =]

  • @CornMakesWhiskey oh nonono the 600 isn't too big, it's too small.

  • @burningsponge ohhhh I miss read your comment lol. I was like huh? how is the .600 too big... I suppose you could always put a bit of tape around it to make it fit. I for see a big boom with the .600... definitely the .700 (hopefully it would finally blow the gun up).

  • @CornMakesWhiskey probably the tape would work, but once again, wasted 700 or 600 brass would make a reloader (which iraqveteran is) shed a tear.

  • When is it gonna fail this deserves the title toughest gun in america

  • An idea like this never even crossed my mind... Had it done so I would have surmised that the gun would have been in several pieces. Interesting... but, as you say "DON'T TRY THIS FOR YOURSELF".

  • This is awesome! I love this series and find them very educational. It's kind of like mythbusters but even more focused on firearms! :) Plus, knowing that many modern guns are strong enough to handle many ammo mixups is good to know. Wouldn't recommend it but could come in handy if in a desperate situation.

  • @0:18 it started to pee
