  • You'd swear this was Herb Alpert...

  • It is interesting to note that back in the 60`s and 70`s it was a very socially acceptable pursuit of guys to "girl watch", in America and (I`m sure) elsewhere. That is, if guys wanted to, discretely but openly, gawk at appealing females they would encounter in public places, no one thought much badly about that. I think that it is a sad commentary on society (in America, certainly) that the media has fostered a paraniod mentality where where such behavior would now be considered "stalking".

  • sounds like Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. still great though. thanks.

  • @ronavila I didn't realize until now that it wasn't Herb. LOL. Great song and great arrangement.

  • He did some awesome songs . . . along with Bob Gaudio.

  • I realize that this kind of harmony for too many young people would be difficult to catch even in a vocal performance. The song is tough musically and if you don't have a deep ear, never try to sing it.Well. The 60s: innovations and ruptures into the art history. I would like to see someone in American Idol try to do vocal with that wonderful tune, it will kill him or her automatically.

  • Andy Williams was fine for grandma at Christmas time, but this song just ain't his. THIS is the version our Dads listened to on am-radio, cruising in the Ford station wagon..... while we bounced around the back seatbeltless..... Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.... those were the days.

  • Great tune. Listened to this on AM radio back in the late 60s and early 70s.

  • Great song! Thanks for posting this Texpaco! I'm curious what you think of the Al Hirt version. I think it's actually a bit better. Thanks also for the biographical information on Bob Crewe, as well the many other videos that have so much background information. Far too many YouTube posters give little or no details, hence a somewhat less-educated public... Keep doing this good, important work, Hunter

  • I remember this song. I was in the second grade when I heard it back in the late '60's. Great song. It took me a long time to find out who did this song.

  • @TheDisco76 I was about same age too. Yes, I recall hearing this tune and the similar themed tune "I'm A Girl Watcher"

  • Thank you so much, brings back so many memories. And the title fits the song.Great job!!!

  • Beautifully assembled images! Thanks from a career-long Bob Crewe fan.

  • Damn, this is one cool track. I miss the vocals from the Any Williams version, though.

  • Kind of sound like Herb Alpert and The Tijuanna Brass....don't it?

  • @joey10469 Reminds me of mini dresses long hair in women and just a great time to be alive!

  • @joey10469 Yes, that may be due to the thirds harmony of the trumpets in the arrangement, which was a Herb Alpert trademark for his group's sound. By the way, if you like Herb and the TJB, search for the music of Black Sombrero Brass. They are a TJB tribute band based in Wash, DC area. All top pro musicians who perform the standard TJB tunes as well , many other people's tunes that they have arranged in the TJB style. They have one CD and it is excellent!

  • J'adore

  • This song was popular the summer that i came home from Viet Nam. All songs from that time are special to me.

  • Been far too long since I've heard this gem. Thanks for posting it!

  • Reminds me of better, simpler, happier times......thanks for posting!

  • A perfect tune for a picture perfect summer evening!

  • Fantastic version ...

    To Fantastic song !

    Thanks ...

  • Bravo pour ce morceau de musique que je recherchais depuis longtemps et dont je ne connaissait ni le titre ni le groupe de musique qui le jouait.

  • Wow! This sounds great! I have the album, but haven't listened to it in years. Thank you for posting this!

  • @Roadsidepictures Thats the problem. You have to listen to the great music from back then.It sure beats the crap out of any music? you hear nowadays!

  • @mike4asianwoman I give you a thumbs up for that one!

  • Thanks for posting this. Very nice and appreciated. One correction, though. Bob Crewe did not co-write "Short Shorts." That was collaborative effort by the members of The Royal Teens, including Bob Gaudio.

  • The web site that I relied on for his biography states that he was a co-writer. However, after further research I find that you are right -- he did not become involved with Bob Gaudio until over a year AFTER "Short Shorts" was recorded. Sorry for the error.

  • No problem here. BTW, if you're in the mood for an original song dedicated to Frankie Valli, check out my "Life's Much More Worth Livin' With A New Frankie Valli Song" at campcastellucio. Regards.

  • Terrific song and arrangment; reminds me a little of Herb Alpert's version.

  • very nice video, great work, hugs margo
