I began to watch this show on the web because I'm currently working on a novel project and it is really helpful and interesting! It's very realistic! I'm halfway thorough first season but this is definitely not a show they should have stopped. This is way better than most of the current tv shows airing on TV these days.

Hey probly since Texas is referred to as "Energy Rich Texas" in print on the series, and energy rich plus being vied for alliance by both the ASA & remaining USA, means they could have easily afforded to upgrade F-16s and any other fighters they had, along with their land based defenses, but better radar, anti-radar, ECM, or the like in older than in newer planes or not, it also boils down who's the best pilot, plus TANG also has F-15s, but need them for air superiority fights that are to come.
The took it down because it was terrible acting, total naive storyboards, absolute predictable. It they have had the guts to show what really is happing in such a reality without the good gub / bad guy - happy american value community it would have been a nice show. I gave it a 3 on IMDB

@magburner It isn't the age of plane that determines whether it will spot another plane faster. It is the radar technology they use, and not only on the plane, but also on the land or some other aerial vehicle.
For example, F-22 with an inferior radar couldn't spot a F-4 with new radar, just because the plane is decades newer.

@Aleckael Just saw (for 1st time) a rerun today. I was kinda disappointed. 1st thought it was similar to "Red Dawn" (the Chinese supply supply-drop), after reading about the series, the show seems to be basically about Civil war, police state, conspiracy, political rivalry etc, right? Realistically, for whatever reason, destroying USA's 23 major cities, would so weaken the USA, they would be totally vulnerable to attack by practically any country. Kind of self defeating course of action, eh?

@gjc82071 Yeah theres a lot of theory-craft revolved around post bomb day. I imagine that so many countries are terminally reliant on our economy (such as china) That as soon as the bombs went off and our economy died, it sent some countries into border line civil war riots and madness. Would the billions of chinese really stand idle with their tyrant government if their economy was suddenly cut in half? I'm sure the bombs did terrible damage to a lot of countries other then the U.S.

@DrCruel by shutting off their long range radar, transponders and maintaning radio silence. Every military plane has a transponder and it's used to identify that specific plane. Hopes this help.
