  • very sad things happened those days

  • Well, my fifth grade teacher made us sing this song in class several times. It was my favorite. Now 10 years after the fact and actually paying attention to the words, this is pretty depressing, and I wonder why our teacher made us sing this.

  • I guess I'm a bit young to say that I grew up with this music but my dad loved them and had a ton of LPs and I loved listening to them!!!! To this day I absolutely love them:)

  • Played this in Middle school and didnt realize that it was inappropriate for our age

  • i'm playing this with my guitar atm :P

  • The memories! 8 hour car drives to go camping in the Adirondacks with my family. Dad driving the old station wagon smoking his pipe and Kingston Trio cassette tapes being played the whole way. We wanted to jump out of the car before we even got over the GW Bridge but man I can really appreciate it now.

  • @tugboat21372 Its sorta funny how when we were kids we never truly appreciated the music of parents, and as we get older we realize just how foolish we were at that time lol

  • wow lol how he sang the part" stabbed her with my knife" so softly and gracefully lol

  • @DaveWollenberg- you are very welcome Dave! Happy New Year! God Bless, Ron

  • This song is no.77 in the world-all-time-charts #kingston #trio

  • Without competition, the best performance of T. Dooly

  • The FOLK music was a pivotal INFLUENCE on the Rock-Pop music of the Sixties, since The Beatles, throught The Byrds, Mamas and The Papas ..to the british version over Paul & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd..

  • love these guys

  • I remember Lonnie Donnigan's version as well..not familiar with this version..but both sing this really well..

    Thanks Ron!!

  • Only ever heard the version by Lonnie Donegan Ron; also released in 1958 and got to No. 3 in the UK charts. Both versions are completely different so it's hard to say which is the best. I would say they were both good in their own way. Jim

  • @James0022ify - hi Jim! Ron

  • Beautiful harmony from The Kingston Trio on their classic hit song. Thank you Ron for post.

  • @ebfan41- you are welcome Mary! Ron

  • Beyond Classic! Thanks, Ron!

    Jim

  • @nipsterstang- you're welcome Jim! Ron

  • Bob and John are hot!! Too bad Nick couldn't be better looking! Then I would have offered to have a quartet with them!!

  • I am not part of this band or any thing, but folk try poets of the fall . they are as good as the kingstons

  • My grandma used to play the Kingston Trio for me when I was little, I still love this type of music despite liking more different genres (like classic rock, metal and mowtown).

  • When i was 9 yrs old i got this record from a jumble sale, terrific sound still sounds fresh today .

  • -> Hang down your head bandulu (C. Cornell)

  • Nothing quite like the Kingston Trio...they are great...love this song too.
