When I was growing up in the hood listening to metal & dressing "weird" I was picked on & made to feel like a freak, I tried to fit in but couldn't. Later on when I was much older & comfortable in my skin & didn't give a rats behind what others thought I rocked my crazy clothes, pierced my septum, tragus, etc & got tattoos cuz I felt like it & I wanted it & I've never regretted who I finally was not one time. Thanks for the encouragement.

This video was right on time. It just so happens that I checked my YT subscriptions after coming home from dinner with two male friends. I'm in the process of transitioning to natural hair and to make a long story short, they pretty much told me that if I plan on cutting it short, I should perm it as well because "natural hair and afros ain't for everyone" and that they'll be happy when the "trend" is over.

Hey Sugar. Not related to personal style but I decided yesterday not to wear makeup despite having fifty million bumps and marks on my skin that was perfectly clear a few short months ago *taking a moment*. I have been hiding behind a mask of Black Opal because I couldn't present me as I was. I didn't even break out this bad in high school but yesterday and today I just was like forget the mask, I'mma let my skin breathe. And I feel good cuz I am still cute; bumps and pock marks and all :-)

Ok, I usually just watch your vids and sometimes I don't rate (forgive me) but today, ma'am, I have to rate and comment. Thanks for sharing this message! I went to the Kanye' and Jay Z concert the other day and for weeks I fantasized over an outfit to wear (rocker/glam/casual) but I did not want to wear heals! oh man, so well said, very fluid! you know at work, my whole department (bar one) hates me, cos i am who i dare to be, and it rubs them the wrong way, thank God i have management on my side. Yep Sugar, i love watching your videos because you are just who you are, and people either like you or not, and it's the same for me. i am called "weird" on a regular basis, i started taking it as a compliment a few years ago, weird works for me! :)

@TheSupasweet love your comment "kick rocks" :) oh yes, they do not like the fact that i have come in and the management likes what i am doing, and i am trying to push them to be more organised, committed and consistent with what we do as a department, there is no team work there, everybody does their own thing and it is always a mess, they absolutely cannot stand me and even try to bitch to the kids about me when i am not there, the kids tell me! :( management is onto it now! sucks!

Nice message. What u said reminds me of my youth. I use to rock fluorescent colored clothes and my clothes had different themes and time periods( 40s look, hippy look). Now I wear khakis and blouses. Boring.

Yep, I do see that there are some people trying to dim other people's light by putting their own issues on someone else (thumbs downing, taking jabs etc on & offline).
