@duncanhill4 um no im pretty sure...my comment wasnt a mistake..!..and like i said!...her horseKNOWS how to stand still it proboly got off balance or something werre not perfect now r we uuh no...and ya u "used" to ride!
I can't stand english riding. but I also prefer coke as opposed to pepsi. how boring would it be if we all did the same thing?
Not a bad video she was clear and easy to understand, only thing I like to emphasize is heels down and not all the way in. seen people get dragged thankfully not far and in a ring but its a wake up call.
The horse is beutifull love the colouring and seems to be well trained.
Okay, everyone who is saying riding is more complicated than just rein. Yes, it is. There's no doubt about that. However, you can't put years of practice into a two minute video. This is for bare beginners with NO experience, probably just researching before they start lessons. Even at the beginning of the video, she said to learn with an instructor because it's very dangerous to learn alone, and you'll probably learn wrong. SO RELAX!
ok..... my horse was just like your horse....when u mounted her.... she started just walking off and u didnt even want her / him to walk [unless u really wanted the horse too....] but could anyone just message me on why my horse would do that whenever i mount her???? is it cuz maybe my legs are a little bit squeezing the horse when i mount?????? MESSAGE ME FOR HELPPPPPPP :D
@4everhorserider If that is happening, you probably are putting on enough pressure to make your horse think that you want him/her to walk. If it's been trained to immediately start walking with the amount of pressure you're putting on you're horse, she's instinctivly going to start wallking. Just try squeeZzing her a little less when you mount, and she might not start to walk. If she still does, you might just have to get someone to hold her reins while you mount. Tell me if it works out ;)
@4everhorserider well sometimes horses may find extra pressure on their back, even when ridden before, a bit uncomfortable, or a misunderstanding as a cue to forward. maybe mounting a bit gentler could help? im no horse genius, but i know them a bit. :)
I really like all your videos. I watch to reinforce what I am learning from my trainer. Sometimes it is helpful to see someone else do it when you can really pay attention to the details. I find them very helpful! Thank you.
Well it is certainly not a way to learn how to ride by looking on Youtube so please don't just get on a horse and think you know what your doing from watching this. But nice vid :)
And other people need to shut up! They are just mean. Even if this isn't the greatest learn to ride video, she still tried! And I for one think she did a GREAT GREAT job. :D
it's a nice vid, but i don't like how she gives the impression that riding is just like 'pull the right rain and it will turn right, pull the left and it will turn left'. it's much more difficult!
ya they know they are just telling you there opinions on what they think you should do there not going to actually take a whole lesson they are veryyyy experianced they dont need a lesson
to be fair, i didn't learn about using my legs/seat to ride for quite a while into taking lessons, so i'm not surprised she doesn't mention it here, i think it's a bit much for someone who's never ridden before.
I think its just the basics she's teaching. When I started to learn how to ride the first thing I was taught was stop, go, left, right which is what she is saying. She's done a good effort in making this video and you can't really say that 'no wonder so many people get hurt riding if they learn by watching junk like this' because the first thing she says is to have someone experienced to help so it is safer,
My friend was asking, did u hold the reins to get on the horse?

You said learning how to ride from YouTube videos are pointless, yet your the one who logged on, searched it, and watched the whole thing?

In my opinion, if you're gunna learn to ride, take lessons.
Learning to ride, from youtube videos is pointless.

even the most advanced riders still take lessons

very true.

Teaching a lesson is different then taking a lesson. lol
I wasn't talking about the chick in the video.

This isn't teaching you to ride. This is giving you tips and telling you what to expect from your first lesson.
danceforeternity112 2 years ago
lol, yup but it's just a minute video so doesn't have to be perfect ;p
Good job :)

OHEMGEE I LOVE THE COLOR OF THOU DAPPLED EQUINE! :)
Nice video by the way but I do have to agree, horses should ALSO be guided with the leg and not just the reins. :)

Two reasons why a mounting block is good..
Number one, it's not good for the horses back. Number two, it streches out the left stirrup leather.
QuarterHorsex32 2 years ago 6
It doesn't matter. It's doesn't help the horses back if you are getting on quickly.

ah the houses at the back are really pretty and the horse is gourjuz! if u dont mind me asking how much were ur jogphures and boots?
