@Farout5150 When you zoom in, the length of the lens affects the amount of light reaching the sensor. Think 'light at the end of the tunnel.' For this particular video, a 50mm portrait lens was used. This lens doesn't have a zoom; all you have to worry about is focusing.
I always admire people who have a talent for work like this. I am going to buy a camera soon like this one, and have a lot of learning to do! I enjoyed the video! Your girls are absolutely beautiful!
what do you do to make the video so smooth, kuzz i have the same exact camera but cant seem to get this professional look. so like what settings do you have the camera on? as far as iso size, and the coloring and everything
Hi!!! im looking this T2i videos all around you tube, because i want to buy this camera, but when i watched this video i realize the simple that life can be, you re video is so simple but so beautiful... I think the slow motion can catch up this moments.... when your beautiful little daughter started to put the chocolate or budin to the cupcake.. we can see the happiness she is living... with something that for all of us, grownups, its so irrelevant, nice moments!!!
Awsome video. Really like the camera. Only thing i would have done different is had your youngest daughter clip nails and get the dirt cleaned from fingers. =]
Very nice job. Was the lighting natural from a window or mixed or incandescent light bulbs overhead? I have the 50mm 1.8 II lens but I know its not that great in low light conditions.
I have the exact same camera and lens and i LOVE them!!!!! although if this was all shot in 60fps, it's native resolution should be 720p rather than the 1080p of the video. So if you upscaled it, you did a pretty good job, but i think you may have made slow motion out of the 24 fps.
so what are your steps for processing the HD footage? do you, capture? then directly upload to your computer? then compress? then edit? then compress again? or edit the raw uncompressed footage in ur software and then compress at the very last moment? and what software do u edit/render with? and when u do, do you lose quality?
What a stunning video. I need to buy this camera. You'll treasure this video with your daughters forever more, great thing to look back to in the future!
Hello, I rented this camera in hopes of trying before I buy. I guess I was naive about it's video AF capabilities. I couldn't get it to work at all. I was forced to use MF. Have you been able to get AF to work satisfactory while shooting video?
I've always used MF. If I'm on vacation I wouldn't be using this camera for Video, Just stills. But knowing me, I would probably use the video part and turn up the F stop to that everything would be in focus.
@tsitalon1 why would u want to use AF on video in the first place..it'll almost never do what you want it to do.the only people who should be using autofocus when it is an option for video are like people doing live coverage of news and sports, but even then, i wouldn't trust it.,it's most likely not gona turn out how you want it to
Hello, great video, great image quality i' m planing of buying one in a couple of days, also can you tell me what's the name of the song that you used in the background please.Keep up the good work. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing. My son and I are looking at getting the T2i. Looks like a great camera for high quality video! Good to see what it can do. Beautiful kids!
why can't AF work in T2i just like in other P&S cameras that have being doing 1080p years ago?
Sure shallow DOF looks like a Hollywood movie but even on youtube it's easy to see misfocus. Not to mention your 60" plasma.
Still your work is very skillful. Trying to focus manually by looking at that tiny screen on the back of the camera takes us to the stone age way before split-screens and microprisms were used (if anyone still remembers).
This is really incredible quality, all scenes are recorded with just the 50mm f1.8? Like many people, i am checking what to do, get the Eos 550D or the 7D (with weathershield). I have a 450d with a 17-40 f4.0 now but that lens will not give the Shallow Depth of Field (DoF). I guess i better go for the 550 and use the difference for a couple Prime lenses :) Check also the Steadycam Merlin (or imitations), they eliminate shocks really good!
How do you have such incredible sense about Videos? Guess you have same sense for Photos too? your videos are very gorgeous! I'm going to subscribe your channel. Please, please make more videos! :D
Thank you so much for the Kind words. I've always loved doing Videos, but with the advent of V-DSLR, you can truly get great cinematography. Especially if you use a wide aperture. I used a 50mm 1.8 II lens from Canon which is only $99.
@shamsham1983 I want to upgrade my old Eos 450D to the semi-pro 7D or the affordable 550D. I read a test that the pictures of the 550D are better then the 7D, and the price difference between the 2 models is huge (639,- euro for the 550 and 1269,- euro for the 7D (body only).
you mean, watch THEM make cupcakes while you just filmed. xP

Like most comments on here: this is a very well done video. Thanks for sharing the moment with us!
I would like to ask you something, though.
Do you typically zoom in or out BEFORE you begin filming?
I ask because when I zoom in or out, the light tends to get brighter or darker.
Thanks again for taking the time to share the video.
Take care

But mind if i asked what lens were you using? and did you use any filters either real or through editing software? cheers

You can get best quality if you convert in after effects to an .MOV video.
And another tip: you can get 1080p with 30 frames. You have only to switch the region from pal to ntsc.
2VisionsPhotography 1 year ago
@2VisionsPhotography it already records in .mov files. it says so on canon's website

for slomo, shoot at as high of a frame rate and shutter speed as you can.
if you dont want to slow more than 50%, then 60 fps and shutter speed:60 is good enough.
and then in after effects, use pixel motion
shilpinator 1 year ago
For slow mo, I like to shoot at 60FPS then convert to 24P. Twixtor is a great plug in for slowmo as well.
