For all those people out there who are naysayers of Halo Reach (justified, in part or in whole, they may be), remember this: Reach still had a better ending than Mass Effect 3.
Remember Reach, folks. Remember the Chief. Remember Blue Team. Remember those unsung heroes of Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Companies of the Spartan-III program. And remember each and every soldier, from the lowliest private to Admiral Whitcomb, who died to give humanity a chance to survive.
Standing on the edge of a new era, 343 Industries place their undying faith into Halo 4's completion. Slowly, the memories of New Mombasa and Reach will fall victim to this new age as the ideals of new enemies and locations will become the ideal norm for the Halo Community.
I however can't find myself to give myself into this new ideology...
People may say that Reach is the "black sheep" or the worst of the series but it doesn't matter.
I stand here, watching the planet, my planet, be set alight. My team, the only friends I have ever known, are dead. Everyone is gone. I look to the sky, praying for hope, for salvation, for rescue. But nothing is there. Nothing except the bloodred sky. There is no hope for me.
But somewhere, in the deepest section of my memory, I remember ONI Directive 930:
Spartans never die, they're just missing in action.
And I realise, I will never die. I ready my gun. For there will be another time.
After fighting hordes of Covenant, destroying the Long Night of Solace, saving thousands of civilians, delivering Cortana, and losing your teammates on the way, you have one last mission, Survive. But you know that mission will be a failure, this is your last stand...your last effort...your last breath.
halo reach....halo in general...some call it gay, some say its ok,but i say, its the best series that exists and ever will. its the only game that combines fun,fast paced gameplay with a real story that gives people genuine emotions, and absolutely beautiful music like this. sure, other games are fun, but there is never going to be any other game that lives up to halos expectations. so, as a closing remark, good luck master chief, good luck rookie, and farewell noble 6. the three best characters
@TheJsbrow12 Not to the same degree, though. I will honestly get horrified if I look at the extent of what Flood can do for too long, just like the Chief or Marines in the games would. I also grew to respect Carter-259 for his leadership skills, just as Six would've. Machiavelli I couldn't care less about, though. I can tolerate Cesare a bit too much for it to be how Ezio felt about the guy. As for the musical scores... Halo beats out AC by a helluva whole lot.
Actually the phrase is explained in the books. When the spartan projects were brought into light, ppl were only told the good news, such as them turning the tides of war. But they didnt want anyone knowing how many spartan casualties were being taken so the unofficial rule was to list the dead as MIA. This was more for morale, so the civilians still had hope that said dead spartan could come back. The origin of how this phrase actually came to be is in the Halo evolutions novel
@Thorax2552 Thanks for explaining it CORRECTLY :) The idea of them being MIA is also to give the idea that they are still kicking ass somewhere. The only Spartans TRULY MIA are grey team (Read Cole Protocol) and Master Chief (The only Spartan to be listed as KIA). Oh yeah and those on Onyx (The only other surviving Spartan II and III) but I think they are found in another book, I can't remember.
This song should play as the world is ending 0:00- 0:56 is when the world is being destroyed, 0:57- 2:05 is when the world just ended and after it ended. And 2:06 - 4:25 is when everyone is thinking about wether if their dead, or now and how their lives ended. Sitting there in total blackness forever just thinking... Until the final pump of blood through their body goes through. Then the heart stops... Forever.. For everyone...

Many Spartans are still alive, master chief squad are alive (Linda ect) and some newer Spartans are in the books, i don't want to go into that though because this comment could turn to a spoiler. Noble six is dead, if the elites never killed him (which i highly doubt he survived the elite fight) then the covenant super carrier's glassing the planet would have finished the job. It's the same with Carter's phrase, he still says "Spartans never die..." but he adds, "They're just Missing in Action" b/c of the moment's situation. If it were a diff. scenario, he would say something else as the add-on.

Somebody said it in what I think was Fall of Reach as "Spartans never die, they are to be listed as M.I.A to keep troop moral up" or something like that. I can't remember exactly but they mention moral, I read the books years ago.

it is confirmed noble six did die but not nessecerly from those elites he did die on reach but he might not have been killed by those elites however it is very very very likely

bungie leaves hints to us that noble six could have survived, being the description that spartans never die, the fact that you dont see noble six killed, "there will be another time...", and your objective is to survive, and noble six doesn't fail his objective.
@Cermak2795 You sort of do, he gets stabbed several times by several elites. I do think that jun may have survived though, seeing as he was ordered to protect halsey as they fled on a pelican.
@MrGeorgethealien You never see Noble 6 Stabbed at all, The First elite with the Energy Dagger Gets kicked off of him and the second goes in to Stab but we do not see it Connect or reach the time of when it would have Connected. Noble 6 could easily have moved and dodged it... Don't assume anything.

You look at the destruction the ruthless Covenant have made of Reach. You know good and well you are probibly the only one left on the planet. You know that this is a one way road, but you also remember that you swore to fight until your dieing breath. And that is exactly what you do. You fought for yourself, you fought for your teammates lieing around you, you fought for Humanity, and you fought for Reach. You showed the Covenant that they cannot crush your courage, showing you are a true hero.
Noble Six looks at the orange sky seeing covenant all around, he knows he can't win. He takes one last big breath of air and reloads his DMR. As the enemy surrounds him he looks back at his fallen team mates. An Wraith blast knocks him off balance and his visor is cracked. He has no use of it anymore, shields drained he shoots an enemy elite and is caught off guard by a zealot behind him, on the ground he knows he's done. He fights til the sword has impaled him. There'll be another time.
this song makes me sad, knowing Noble 6 gave his/her own life so that Cortana, John-117, and the Pillar of Autumn could escape Reach, and died in the best way for a Spartan to die: fighting impossible odds against overwhelming numbers

What i believe is that the master chief later lands on reach through flip space, and i believe that because you can also see that the year is in 2582 or something like that i dont remember. but thats 30 years after the whole halo saga. there's much to think about before halo 4 launches.

i really DO NOT believe Noble 6 is dead. he was fighting the elites off, and the elites shields were decreasing, his shields weren't. and Bungie not showing him get stabbed by that Zealot did not convince me that hes dead. Some halo songs, like halo 3's "tribute" and this song, they just make you have a weird feeling in you chest. Marty and Michael really knew what they were doing.
Reach had, by far, the best soundtrack in the entire Halo series, with ODST coming ridiculously close. "Epilogue" does create a great atmosphere, but (I know I'm gonna get a lot of fire for this) I feel that the scene would've been a lot more powerful if it was complete silence, just the ambiance of a dying planet in the background. The whole idea behind the Lone Wolf mission was that you were alone, and the music, though phenomenal, sort of takes away from the full effect.
Can you survive? Alone? The Covenant decided long ago to take Reach and no single man- make that no single Spartan -could stop them. You fought long and hard and gave Reach your all to achieve this point. Fight if you must, but understand that you owe Reach nothing. Be the Lone Wolf if you desire and fight for all you can, but you know this is not a battle you can win. It is time to say goodbye.

bungie leaves hints to us that noble six could have survived, being the description that spartans never die, the fact that you dont see noble six killed, "there will be another time...", and your objective is to survive, and noble six doesn't fail his objective.

@Cermak2795 You sort of do, he gets stabbed several times by several elites. I do think that jun may have survived though, seeing as he was ordered to protect halsey as they fled on a pelican.

@MrGeorgethealien You never see Noble 6 Stabbed at all, The First elite with the Energy Dagger Gets kicked off of him and the second goes in to Stab but we do not see it Connect or reach the time of when it would have Connected. Noble 6 could easily have moved and dodged it... Don't assume anything.

@wjra4 Well then you would've killed all mankind, including yourself. If Six hadn't manned the gun, the Cruiser would've killed the Pillar of Autumn, Six, The Chief, Cortana, Keyes... all of 'em. Then there'da been no hope for mankind. The Covenant would've unleashed the flood with no way to stop it, and then gotten themselves killed. In all... you would've killed the whole galaxy by doing that.

Noble Six looks at the orange sky seeing covenant all around, he knows he can't win. He takes one last big breath of air and reloads his DMR. As the enemy surrounds him he looks back at his fallen team mates. An Wraith blast knocks him off balance and his visor is cracked. He has no use of it anymore, shields drained he shoots an enemy elite and is caught off guard by a zealot behind him, on the ground he knows he's done. He fights til the sword has impaled him. There'll be another time.

this song makes me sad, knowing Noble 6 gave his/her own life so that Cortana, John-117, and the Pillar of Autumn could escape Reach, and died in the best way for a Spartan to die: fighting impossible odds against overwhelming numbers

And also at the very end when Dr. Halsey is talking you can see a crashed ship on the right. And what looks like a covenant ship or something like that on the far left of the screen. What i believe is that the master chief later lands on reach through flip space, and i believe that because you can also see that the year is in 2582 or something like that i dont remember. but thats 30 years after the whole halo saga. there's much to think about before halo 4 launches.

i really DO NOT believe Noble 6 is dead. he was fighting the elites off, and the elites shields were decreasing, his shields weren't. and Bungie not showing him get stabbed by that Zealot did not convince me that hes dead. I mean it showed Emile get stabbed, that shit was fucking gangster, "I'm ready! How bout you!" i love that dude. But yeah honestly i think Noble 6 still lives.

But he did die, and if you watched the eulogy by Dr. Halsey, thenyoull know that his body and armor were turned to glass, except his badass courage. "Lieutenant! Reach had, by far, the best soundtrack in the entire Halo series, with ODST coming ridiculously close. "Epilogue" does create a great atmosphere, but (I know I'm gonna get a lot of fire for this) I feel that the scene would've been a lot more powerful if it was complete silence, just the ambiance of a dying planet in the background. The whole idea behind the Lone Wolf mission was that you were alone, and the music, though phenomenal, sort of takes away from the full effect.

Can you survive? Alone? The Covenant decided long ago to take Reach and no single man- make that no single Spartan -could stop them. You fought long and hard and gave Reach your all to achieve this point. Fight if you must, but understand that you owe Reach nothing. Be the Lone Wolf if you desire and fight for all you can, but you know this is not a battle you can win. It is time to say goodbye.
