Clifton Chenier does a great cover of this song on his Live at St. Mark's album. You can find it on youtube. My all time favorite boogie version is Savoy Brown's live version with Chris Youlden on vocals. The best part is at the end of the side, after 20 plus minutes of rockin' out, Youlden says: You want to boogie some more, yes, yes and Kim kicks it back in, the record fades, but you know they went on for another 10 minutes of so.
Anybody remember the Boogie Kings Concert in Detroit, with these guys, Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker together---playing until 3 AM or something insane like that. A Motor City Maniac's dream!
I saw them live at Suffolk Downs in Boston, Mass. in the spring of 1973. It was around the time "Tell Mama" was released. They kicked ass! Blue Oyster Cult opened for them. Since my perception was somewhat--how shall I put it?--"chemically enhanced," at the time I don't remember much beyond Savoy's playing "Tell Mama" and BOC closing their set with a cover of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild."
I just saw Kim and Savoy Brown (whoever's in the band this week) at the Throckmorton Theatrer in Mill Valley and as usual they rocked the joint! SEE THEM!!! Your ears and soul will thank you.
Sure, you listen to the version on A STEP FURTHER: real great.

Great band, miss them a lot. Best version is on "A Step Further," side two, recorded live at a small club. At 23 minutes,
it really rocks. Kim Simmons is da bomb!
