Funny thing about central Illinois native Alison she has said in many interviews that while she plays a folk/country style, many are surprised she listens to a ton of hard rock. LOL!
Alison was only 6 yrs old when Desolation Angels came out and this Bad Company timeless album with this song stormed the charts in 1979 powered by Rock and Roll Fantasy.
im 16 and remember my mom always playing Alison Kruss all the time even when i was a baby i know all of her songs!! she really has rare sounding voice its very hard to find now days she is such a inspiration to me!
seen them in warren, ohio a couple of months ago and it was the best live performance i have ever seen. i like hard rock and have been to ozzfest and lolapalooza and they were crap compared to these guys.
@clitasaurus1 There's only one culture that would consider the way she dresses provocative and that's the Islamic religion. For us true Patriotic Americans they don't count.
How is it that Alison looked like she was 40 when she was 20 and now at about 40 looks like she is 20. Her Golden voice stays the same. Born July 23, 1971.
10 or so years ago, before I threw out our TV, I was flicking the remote control and caught a bit of one of the finest voices I'd ever heard. Went back to CMTV and first saw AKUS. It has been love for me and my entire family since that day. We live in Brooklyn NY, native New Yorkers, mixed race, Yankee fans. Doesn't matter, real talent crosses all borders and differences.
Ever been to Alanta folks? Used to be a great town about 10 years ago. Don't know about now. But when Alison sang this it was a nice place to visit. Ted Turner blows now, but back then he was just a typical CNN wacko.
Incredible! A slow jam is and all these guys are amazing, tho my personal favorite is Jerry D on the DoBro he came to see us in Bangor Maine at the American Folk Festival and a train actually rolled thru when he was doing "Oh Brother" it was unbelievable. Keep this beautiful art coming, there is not enough beauty in this world.
What a way to end the show! If you like AKUS, the DVD of this concert is worth having; the sound quality and video quality are excellent, great song variety, well done all-around.
I love this Alison as well as this song, but the way she sings Georgia bugs me a bit. I know, I know, it's her technique - I'm just saying. Please no nasty comments - does this bug anyone else?
@PiggiesAndPens I know what you're saying. It is kinda funny, but hey, it got her there:P. Then again, try and listen to the original by Bad Company, a lot less accentuation throughout the entire song:P.
She is absolutely beautiful! Her voice is so smooth... A studio vocal machine would butcher such amazing talent. I love how she sings, so clear and pure, I absolutely adore Alison Krauss!
I wonder how many people know this is a rock & roll song from 1979 by Bad Company, who were on Led Zeppelin's Swan Song record label. I still prefer the original, but this is one fine version. On a side note, it was Zeppelin's singer Robert Plant who performed with Alison on Raising Sand.
She's a Beautiful Woman Inside and Out and is Overflowing with Grace and Class all while being one of the most Feminine Women who Ever Lived.....WOW The Song ain't bad either....LOL
at 2:57 their drummer really feels the rythm of the song.. lol. I really love Alison Krauss. so difficult to follow her style in "geor-eee-gia". even through words, i am not certain with the pronunciation. lol
A 'prophet' I AM NOT, thus my post-commentary here: Globally-speaking, this has been shown (via non-scientific polls I've conducted) to greatly reduce tension and stress, thereby lengthening persons liv(fe)s....An 'independant lab' has concluded not only is this song beneficial to your health, it also (harbors) the potential to create deeper love in an individual for whom there was no tangible expressions of love...
@cloemcbowey She's saying "Georgia" only like "Geor-G-gia." I don't know why she emphasizes it so weirdly (especially in this video). Makes it very hard to sing/imitate.
I really love the sound of Union Station - this incarnation expecially - great players and I generally love Allison's voice and the great ensemble ethic of the band. However, when I saw this on Soundstage, this song stuck in my craw - what was she singing? "Jor-ga-ja"? Made no sense. Someone told me what the song was but the over-enunciation of Georgia really got to me. It's the only thing in the show that I stumbled over. Now I know, but still don't get it. Great otherwise.
@DrAznmuff .....Responding w/o an ounce of malice or guile, I'd spell it 'JawJa'...Remember it's so hot down in the deep south that no one finds reason enough to open their 'sweet jawls' any wider than necessary...I strictly speak for myself and everyone else in the third person...
I was there jaw dropping beautiful knee slapping times.. I went with my brothers/uncles/grandpa n dad.. we was so smashed.. hooting and hollering before we made it in.. such good music..
LOVE you Alison! This song means so much to me. I have been to Atlanta, a great city!
