@mjjcng8958 My dad had a 71 Impala and 74 and 79. They were all great cars, the 71 dad always thought the front end looked like a Caddy, the 74 kinda went back to the front end of the 71 but the big bumper. The 79 was the downsized model. He was a sales man so racked up the miles, paid him mileage instead of giving him a car, said he made more that way, I never did the math. The 79 was loaded, why he never would get a Caprice I do not know, about 800.00 bucks base price more.
Uhh...hello? Guy in the suit and tie? Did you get so involved telling us about the station wagon that you somehow did not notice the Corvette on the end? That doesn't even bear mentioning?
There were also two convertibles offered that year. A 'full-sized' Impala and 'mid-sized' Malibu. It is amazing how many models Chevy and GM offered in those still golden days of the US automobile.
You said it, brother! Now, all cars look pretty much the same. But, from about 1962 to 1970, GM designed beautiful sheet metal. Then, their cars got bloated and ugly, and later on, they shrank, and then, they became overpriced look-alikes of Toyotas.
One of the cars in my collection is a 71 Vega with 52,254 miles. It was made to be recycled just like the cars of today. This one doesn't want to go back. I take it to the supermarket every week.
Chevrolet spent years working on Vega, huh? I guess they forgot to check under the hood. How's those cast iron heads on the aluminum block working out for you?
I am a proud owner of a 1971 Impala. Love the commercial.

Hi Quirpco, Corvette did not get mention because G. M. was trying to keep a low profile in the high performance department at the time.

I have a friend who owns a 1971 Caprice Classic from Canada. Those were the days when that car was as big as the USS Enterprise.
