The fires were only part of why the Inn closed. The main reasons were with changes in ownership, but mostly changes in vacationing patterns of families. If you've seen Dirty Dancing where the owner says "It's that it all seems to be ending. You think kids want to come with their parents and take fox-trot lessons?"...Different time period, similar sentiment. Whether or not MTV did choose to take liberties involving the history of the INN , The INN was entirely popular amoung New yorkers and residents of philidelphia from the 70-90's mainly for the amenities. However Closure became imminent due in large to a series of mysterious fires that plauged the INN , This is exactlyt what has led some residents to believe that this is why the area is haunted

I also learned from the Buck Hill Falls website that there is going to be a renovation of the new west wing into a boutique hotel and other renovations to the rest of the Inn.
@76Demon67 Was there a few weeks ago and it seemed like there may have been bit of activity renovation-wise because there was a Bobcat on the property. However, rumors of renovations with the hope of re-opening have been around since the Inn closed. It's an awesome and imposing building. Such a shame that it's just sitting there, deteriorating into nothing and has fallen victim to vandals and arsonists within the last few years...MTV made up 90-95% of this story.
@huntressmoon1 I have no doubt that things happen. Having been there, I've witnessed at least one inexplicable occurance. However, the extent that MTV embellished the stories is what I have a problem with. According to the owner a few years back, MTV got upset when the mediums they brought in said that only happy spirits resided in the building basically having an eternal party. Therefore, MTV embelished to make it more "terrifying."
@Marosiala8782 It was during the "haunted tour" in Oct '02 which was really just like every other haunted attraction. One area we were walking outside and myself and one friend both heard a wind chime. Is it possible that they staged the sound? Sure, but seeing as only two of us from a group of about 10 heard it, it caused the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up. And I don't scare easily. Recently we thought we saw something move from a window, but who knows if it was a squatter or bird...
