Wow Porl rules! i guess now I know why Robert didnt want him after Wish... too noisy for old Robert, must have left him deaf in rehearsals. hehe Oh and Jason is no match for Boris....... he's a good drummer, technically; sounds like a regular rock band drums. But Boris played with such feel... his drumming sounded inmense. Love this song!

@Karynica Robert said in some old interviews that when he heard some of the stuff Porl was doing for the Wish songs, he was surprised at the wall of noise...... and didnt feel it was the direction he wanted for The Cure. So i guess he didnt like the noise... you call it his style, i'll call it his noise :)

BTW I know how long Porl has played with the cure.

You're obviously a newb. The bald headed guy is Porl Thompson. He was with the band when it was called Easy Cure and then with them again from 1983 to 1994. He's the best guitarist The Cure ever had, and I for one am glad he's back with them.

@noisyrag - True, but note that Robert Smith is and has always been the lead guitarist, even while he is singing. The other guy plays rythm guitar except for a few exceptions. Actually early Cure was only 3 guys, kind of like Nirvana. Anyway, nice to see that the Cure is still going strong.after 31 years. I don't think his music will ever get old. I mean name one song on the radio today that rocks like "Fascination St", "Desintegration", "Never Enough",.......?

ROFL -- yes! Don't miss the keys at all. The four piece all guitar/bass/drums works for me, has more energy, and just rocks out more. MUCH better. Compare for example, an old style "The Kiss" with something from 2005 onwards. The stripped-down approach has invigorated them.

I have to say that I was a sceptic about the 4 piece cure and I skipped this last tour. Now I wish I had made it to at least one show. They seem to have more edge than ever. Jason is much improved and Porl looks like a punk super hero. Robert needs to get in shape for the next tour, though. Maybe he should follow Simon to the gym.

Its a recorded clik clacker for timing. It sounds ok. At 2:40 you can see that Jason is doing a fill while the clicker is running. Several songs have that in the background. Almost all drummers use that in thier ear or monitor set.
