yea i noticed as soon as i saw your accent in the first video lol....Im gonna be in london this July I'd love to meet up for some jam sessions if you are available once or twice......I have a video up but your way ahead of me especially i have alot of respect for the dedication you put in to tabla....It takes alot to master the ustaad bhols such as the masit khan and ahmed jaan thirkwa rehla.
always practice at a speed that makes your arm work hard without sacrificing quality - it is at that speed that stamina, quality and speed all improve
if you practice slower than this, only the stamina and quality improve
if you practice faster than this, then only your speed will improve but your stamina and quality will decrease
Gurdain, you are amazing................... The clarity of the bols are just amazing
well done. Would so love to do keertan with you one day

Hey Gurdain... I will ask about how to practice dhenegene you played with harkiret in the other video...?
Maronnoland 3 years ago
Dhenegene is a swinging motion
first the dhe played with first finger away from the body touching the ink but resonating
ne is played with the last three fingers under the ink section to stop the resonance
the ge is just a ge and the final ne should help begin the next round again

Hi gurdain how often should you practice and how many hours a day if you want get as good as you?
gsingh93 4 years ago
It is important not to practice too much
This can damage the hand as had happened with my guruji unfortunately.
Try to get at least one or two hours of physical practice in each day, but thinking, counting and speaking tabla should take most of the day :)

Thanks for the great advice!!

Excellent. What tips do you have for practicing to increase speed?

I very much enjoyed wathcing and listening to your tabla playing, Gurdain.
I'm sure you are a true credit, not only to your father and family, but also to Pt Shankar Ghosh and the late great Gurmeet Singh Ji.
Looking forward to seeing more of your playing in the future.
