We tend to think they're harmless but should it ever bite you or your family you will have a serious problem on your hands. I know someone who was bitten by a centipede and she nearly died as a result. They are very poisonous and they don't need to be very large to hurt you. We tend to not think of them as harmful because they don't actively come after us, but should one mistakenly crawl on you then and react by biting you then you will truly wish you had killed it long ago.

I live in the Dominican Republic and I see those regularly coming out of the bath tub.

We spray insecticide on a regular basis but they always come back, I can find at times 6 or 7 babies dead. I find sulphuric acid works but it's hard on the pipes.
