Good review. I've considered this knife quite a bit. I have large hands and wonder how that relatively narrow handle would do in an extended use situation. Does it create hot spots or become uncomfortable in your hand in extended use?
there is a lanyard hole. i purchased (and love) the mil-spie three and one of the things i wish it did have in comparison to the 5 is the lanyard hole...... however in order to install a lanyard you must take off the handles and if you notice on the bottom there are two groves where the lanyard should come out of (on the micarta)
@nalday07 I bought it from a seller on Amazon, but that was last year, I think the price now is around $125 at most places, sadly. Still a great knife though. ~Israel
Great video, I love this blade myself. Just an FYI the knife does have a lanyard hole. If you look at the bottom of the handle close to the rear you will see 2 releif cuts in the micarta for the lanyard to go thru. You have to take the handles off to get your paracord in the hole. Just an FYI. Love the vid
wow. 100 bones. that has to be the only bargain tops knife. looks very useful. so are you gonna remove the handle scales and paracord it or just leave it and place in the collection.
@PavlovSandor I think they sell versions without scales and ones with yellow scales too, but since I got the one with scales I'll keep them on. I keep the knife for my bugout type kit, ya know, for when Red Dawn happens lol. ~Sensei Israel
Nice! I'm really liking Tops knives. They have some really good designs, good prices for what you get, they are similar to Esee knives but with a more tactical edge.
I really think the primary reason for using carbon steel on large, hard use knives is because it's much tougher than any stainless especially at higher RC.
Speaking of TOPS, I heard Buck collaborated with them to make a new version of the Nighthawk. Looks interesting. Keep up the good work, my friend, I know you're listening ;)
@superdznuts99 The Recon Scout is more a full size fighting utility fixed blade. Whereas the Mil-Spie 5 would be more in the category as the Ontario Pilot Survival Knife (mid sized survival), but more specialized for survival or bushcraft rather than combat. ~Sensei Israel
Do you think this would be a good IWB for concealed carry with it clipped inside out in your pants?

@SweptEdge - I think it would feel a bit heavy, but I haven't tried it IWB.
