It's ridicilously hard, tutorial is joke, didn't do any historical research outside wikipedia( exp. no partisans in Yugoslavia), diplomacy sucks, espionage sucks, very laggy, politics are useless feature... OK I would lie that I didn't like new researching, changing laws (insted of whole year) and selling/buying military stuff.
i love hearts of iron 2 but hearts of iron 3 sucks. It is needlessly difficulty. Diplomacy is a mess, so hard to even declare war. Game is even slower than hearts of iron 2. I don't recommend it, play hearts of iron 2 instead

Paradox is just awesome with how they deliver what the people on their forums want. HOI is a game not built for the mainstream, instead it is built for the hardcore, and the mainstream adopts it as fun.
Agree with you but trouble it basically impossible to make one that would appeal to a big enough crowd to be worth to market for it would make game that extend over such a large RL time.
But hey we can dream. It just that not everyone has the patience to do a campaign that will last at least 1 year in RL. =p
I'm glad it ends in 1948, this allows them to really concentrate on making a quality product tailored specifically for the needs of a WWII grand strategy game.
it's not like in "total-war" series. You have no tactical fight but very complex calculations based on terrain, type and amount of troops, weather, leaders and so on.
they will blatantly bring out a cold war expansion pack, i just hope it doesnt ship a scenario where the war is already hot and includes an emphasis on de-colonization (India,Egypt etc) and the smaller wars such as Malaysia etc
HOI2 is the single most detailed and replayable game I've encountered in over 2 decades of computer strategy gaming. If HOI3 lives up to half of its promise, it's going to kick azz. Can't wait 4 this one!!

lots of LOL...Europa Universalis III sucked for the graphics.Europa Universalis II had better graphics than EU III,and if the follow up of the Hearts of Iron 2 will have the same edgy graphics as EU3 the game will really suck (I'm thinkin about the sprites,more)
Sounds like they've put a lot of effort into this, I love how much thought Paradox puts into its games - and the fact it works on player feedback. Can't wait to buy the game.
Im not that fond of EU3, too vague and trying to annex anything is near impossible. I like HOI2, you take the provinces and annex them! Victoria has a very vague tech, I stopped playing because the game had a forgone conclusion, the UK won. I do like having tank factories and the detail of discovering prod. tech and building clothing factories and aircraft factories etc, that was cool, but the game ended way too soon!
This is what I love about Paradox and the people who play these games.
They all seem to a an B+ or higher crowd.

Total war and Paradox are not really in competition for one is real time battlefield strategy and the other is Grand Strategy.
That like saying Supreme commander is in competition with Dawn of War 2 to me. Really not the same scale.
