hey guys, i have a question. i have a ps3 wich i can play on full days and works all great. but sometimes, it just freezes (i mean screenfreeze) cos when i move my analog stick, i hear the sound of walking/running. it happens one or two times a month... is it gonna break? i wanna know cos than i know if i should go buy a new one (bought in november 2009)

no beause it has slightly more powerful cooling fans and has 45mn chips unlike the 65mn chips in the fat ne and it uses 34% less power but some sites have claimed up to a 50% less power used so its way less likey to overheat combine thta with a material thats less likey to heat up that the fats and its about 60% less likey to overheat as one site claimed

Lol, how does the PS3 Slim overheat? It uses almost 50% less of the PS3 "phat"s power. And yes they are the same, but the size and less production costs helps everyone as well as the electricity bill. Also it comes with 120GB not 80GB. You get a great value for $300.

I hate the PS3 slim. I like my old PS3 better. Had it since release. 60GB with 4 usb ports, not 2 and backwards compatibiliy with ps2 games.

PS3 slim doesn't have that, so if I did buy the slim, I'm pretty much downgrading my ps3.

Sure bigger harddrive, but lose 4 usb ports and I can't play ps2 games.

Yes it's true, Sony said the new ps3 slim can't play ps2 games. I got a ton of ps2 games I still play and sometimes buy.

The reason they removed the backwards compatibility was to cut down the price. People bitched and moaned about it being too costly and it ended up having one too many corners cut, like USB ports and the aforementioned compatibility, amongst other things like the touch sensitive buttons which I love btw, install other OS feature, gloss finish and many other features.

Pretty much, it's been gone since the 160Gb PS3 and every other one made last year. I've got an 80gb ps3 with everything, backwards compatibility included, and I also think it was money well spent. People don't know the real value of an item until all it's good features are gone and they're left wondering why they were removed in the first place only to be painfully reminded they were the ones screaming "cut the price down!!!".

Right, you never owned a PS2 Slimline but you feel qualified to say it sucked.

Well I've had a PS2 Slimline since 2004 and it has been even better than the PS2 fat, which died after 2 years and unlike Microsoft, Sony refused to replace it or repair it.

Beyond the form factor the PS2 Slimline had better backwards-compatibility support and integrated modem.

I also have a 360 with no overheating problems at all.
