@BurningMoonoftheSky What I would do is open the MIDI in REAPER and find the track with the vocals and export it by itself. Or you can just import all the staffs and see which one is right.
I admit, I'd probably have just given up on UTAU without this vid, since I couldn't import midis /at all/ before and wouldn't know to use type 0 midis. But, since Noteworthy Composer quantizes stuff on import, I had to fix the timing of the final wavs in Reaper...syllable by syllable... I don't know how this works with full midis, but if you're making a UST from scratch and your midi only contains a vocal track, I'd recommend just using Anvil Studio and going to File > Export Midi Format-0 file.
@Totalidiocy To be honest, I don't like making USTs from preoffered MIDIs. When I make a UST from MIDI, I made the MIDI using REAPER's MIDI function. I think that if you isolate the vocal track from a preoffered MIDI in REAPER, then export that, it wouldn't be too hard. This was made long, long before I even knew what REAPER was.
...eh? I'm confused right now, sorry. orz Are you saying that it's easier to find the vocal track of a downloaded midi in Reaper than in Noteworthy Composer? (Since I wouldn't know about that, sorry. I've only tried to make original songs, so I haven't downloaded any midis.) My problem wasn't with finding/isolating the vocal track, but rather with NWC screwing up the timing slightly. The only thing I used NWC for was converting from type 1 to type 0 midis.
@Totalidiocy NWC screws up a lot of things about a MIDI. With REAPER, you import the MIDI, you find the track you want to export (or make it), you open it in the MIDI editor and save it. The only thing that REAPER has messed up for me is the tempo, which I have to change in the UST file... by using notepad. But, that's how I make the vocal track of my original songs. Add virtual instrument that kind of sounds like vocals, compose that track, then export it as MIDI and work with in UTAU.
If you didn't waste so much time with all your pointless chitchat this could've been a lot shorter and more helpful. I don't care you cant pronounce "UTAU" I just wanna learn about the damn MIDI shit.
@sonictheunknown ww This was made two years ago when I could only name about five UTAUs. This tutorial isn't as helpful as some other guides on how to make MIDIs and stuff like that. Something I would suggest is getting REAPER and using its MIDI function. People use FruityLoops quite often, but you would have to shell out money for it or risk a nasty virus.
@annamaeblythe Phew. Most of my cats I've had have lasted only six months or less... Now I have two gorgeous cats. One I've had for 4 years and one for 1 1/2 years. :3
@UtauloidAishu Sophia was my first "big pet" to die so soon. I haven't had a single dog that has died in under ten years, and my mom's cat is, like, eight years old. (I've had two hamsters, a rat, and several birds that kicked the bucket XD; But the birds and my rabbit both lived abnormally long lives for birds and rabbits o 3o )
i'm sorry, but i couldn't even finish this video because you kept going off topic. also, you didn't really seem to know how to explain what you were doing. this video isn't "clean" or "to the point" either.
it's a good idea to write out a script for instructional videos, or at least practice first. i'm not trying to be mean, but i didn't know what the heck you were doing or talking about :P
I can't understand how to make the midi usable! I downloaded 'love is war' midi, and NoteWorthy too, but when I choose save, I can only save as NWC file -__-
Is the voice file saved as a WAV? And did you save it in Oremo, Audacity, or the Voice Recorder that came with Windows? If not, it may be the wrong kind of WAV. I've tried converting MP3s to WAVs for UTAU, and it didn't work with the converter I used, so... yeah... You WILL have to rerecord everything if the samples are MP3s.
It's okay :) She's in a better place now. Andandand... I got a new kitty a few months after she died, and she's even fluffier!! And lacks most of the health problems Sophia had.
This may have been asked before... (yeah, my brain never works after even 4 hours of working at that blasted grocery store) But, how do you convert something INTO midi to begin with? I was going to do a song I love from Final Fantasy, but my version of Audacity only exports .wav, .mp3, and something called "Ogg Vorbis"... What the heck is "Ogg Vorbis"?!?
MIDIs are basically sheet music that your computer reads. There are ways to convert WAVs into MIDIs, but they usually kinda suck. I have amazingmidi to convert wavs into MIDIs, but it doesn't really work. At all. If you have sheet music, you can make a MIDI from that on something like Anvil Studio. (never tried it.) An OGG file is a audio file that (in my experiences) is clearer than an MP3, and only slightly larger. IT's WAAAAY smaller than WAV. Hope I helped ^^
Thanks, Anna! ^-^ I was just so confused on what an OGG was... Oh, and meant to say before, but sorry about your cat. I know how it is to lose family pets.
^-^ I love Ragdolls! I have 2 of my own, one's an orange tabby who was more or less a "dumpster cat", aka we found him, and the other's a grey and white. I'll try to make a video of them and our dog sometime. they're adorable! Anyway, best of luck with your kitty and everything! ^-^
Let me help you with pronouciation -- because it bothered me oh so much....
Hiragana= HI (said like he in english)-RA (like la but with a r, the r is light and kind of sound like a l) GA (like lady gaga) NAH
Kanji = KAH-N (a hard n sound. Kind of like saying No minus the o.... nnnnn) Ji (the i sound like the english letter e as in he, j sounds like the j in jam)
UTAU= This one you got right... but you said wrong alot... U-TAH-U... think of the U and the oo's in ooh aw... oh...) hope this helps
Looking back at it, the pronounciation really, really bugs me, to XD I think I've got most of the pronounciations down now :D ... But I accidently read "ou" as "oo-UUU" every. single. time. (I have so much fun reading LOKE (rouke) .-. Sooo much fun.) Thanks for trying to help :3
Basically. If that gets you no results, try "MIDI Poker Face Lady Gaga" But there's already a UST being made for that one :3 Also.. I have a friend who wanted to make some UTAUs sing a song, but they only had the sheet music, so they made a MIDI out of the sheet music.
... I forgot. Okay, so on the same tab as the OTO.ini option, you go to the bottom and there's an option with (O) in it. You mash that and a window pops up with tabs on the top. You mash the second tap and mash the button next to that long white box. You then find the voice bank and pick any sample. Then press Okay or open or whatever, and then you need to press a button above the white box. Watch my latest tutorial. It's somewhere on my channel.
It might or it might not. The reason I figure it works is because it changes the midis from channels to staffs that don't have notes on top of eachother. If it splits the midi into staves (those lines with notes on them), it should.
What, pray tell, is the difference between "taw" and "tah"? Different way of writing the same sound. Taw is simply less ambiguous. Tah could be the "ta" in "tap" or the "ta" in "tall". "Taw" could only be the "ta" in "tall". Yeah, generally, if one is writing the "a" sound as a sound effect in English, we write it as "ah". But that's because people use the word "ah" a lot. "Tah" isn't even a word.
If the voicebank has been programed to recognize Romaji, then it will sing when romaji is put in. Japanese UTAUs usually don't have that feature, though. Some good romaji recognizing banks are Camila Melodia, Blythe Anaka, and Ensei Ayame.
Don't worry. I was in your position when I started out :3
Well I finally got UTAU working properly and I'm messing with Defoko untilI get a microphone. I wrote my own song in NoteWorthy (sounds like CRAP) and imported the MIDI, but the background music doesn't play. And in NoteWorthy, I tried to add the lyrics to the files thingy and they got all bunched up.
I'd suggest getting another voicebank. Defoko is great, but it's more fun to have a variety of singers XD The UTAU library has TONS of voicebanks posted. Background music isn't supposed to play. Only the track you imported is recognized. Also, as for lyrics in noteworthy... Hiragana doesn't work. It just turns into squiggles. I'd suggest leaving the lyrics for when you get into UTAU. To put backing music, convert the MIDI to WAV and edit them together in Audacity.
XD I know. I was doing this "UTAU PodCast" with the people who voice Zanda and Chii.. o_O I corrected their pronounciations of UTAU. Which I find weird.. XD
I downloaded it a long while back. It's version 1.75. I've heard of someone not being able to save before. It's a real dickens, but I can't tell you what's wrong. Did you try hitting "Save As" and looking for "Type 1 MIDI" in the drop down box? A lot of the time they don't say "Vocals." You have to play them over and over again to find the right one. Don't hold your breath for any VOCALOID MIDIs. Nico people arn't exactly keen on handing over their USTs and such to us.
I'm pretty sure you right click until you find the vibrato box, and then you move the line around XD;; I think Stumph showed how to use Autovibrato in her tutorial. I forgot how to use that XD
I'm currently working on my voicebank right now and realized I made a huge mistake during recording so it might be a while before I start using UTAU right.
Don't be discouranged :) It took my friend three tries before UTAU even recognized her files. And... XD If you took a look at Anaka's old voicebank, you'd figure I had no real clue what I was doing real soon
Oh! Sorry D: There is no English version of UTAU that I'm aware of. Heck, I even forgot where /I/ got UTAU. I think your best bets would to contact SingingRobotStalker or Stumph.
If you want something easy like Nirvana, you just have to go to Google and type in "Nirvana (Song title) MIDI" If that doesn't bring up any results, you may need to just give up. Speaking of Nirvana, I actually found a freakin' huge zip of MIDIs of their songs XD It's pretty cool :3

how do u get the unregistered version of noteworthy??
oppositeopinion 2 years ago
I downloaded it a long while back. It's version 1.75. I've heard of someone not being able to save before. It's a real dickens, but I can't tell you what's wrong. Did you try hitting "Save As" and looking for "Type 1 MIDI" in the drop down box? A lot of the time they don't say "Vocals." You have to play them over and over again to find the right one. Don't hold your breath for any VOCALOID MIDIs. Nico people arn't exactly keen on handing over their USTs and such to us.

I tried but it just has NWC on the dropdown box

where can u get midi's from??
oppositeopinion 2 years ago
I just searched on Google. The best way is to have a song in mind and seach "(song title) (performer) MIDI"

How do you add vibrato to notes?
JamaicanShinigami 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure you right click until you find the vibrato box, and then you move the line around XD;; I think Stumph showed how to use Autovibrato in her tutorial. I forgot how to use that XD

Thanks! 8)
I'm currently working on my voicebank right now and realized I made a huge mistake during recording so it might be a while before I start using UTAU right.
JamaicanShinigami 2 years ago
Don't be discouranged :) It took my friend three tries before UTAU even recognized her files. And... XD If you took a look at Anaka's old voicebank, you'd figure I had no real clue what I was doing real soon

Google 'Utau' and you should find a japanese page.

Oh! Sorry D: There is no English version of UTAU that I'm aware of. Heck, I even forgot where /I/ got UTAU. I think your best bets would to contact SingingRobotStalker or Stumph.

How do you find MIDI files?
I can't seem to track them down, or did I miss something?
kirikitty22 2 years ago
If you want something easy like Nirvana, you just have to go to Google and type in "Nirvana (Song title) MIDI" If that doesn't bring up any results, you may need to just give up. Speaking of Nirvana, I actually found a freakin' huge zip of MIDIs of their songs XD It's pretty cool :3

XD I have made a bunch of UTAUs sing Rape Me... Which was my first UST where I actually put effort into making the lyrics sound somewhat close XD
But I have thought a lot about making more Nirvana songs... XD I like Nirvana.

Wait, do you need a MIDI file with just vocals? ._.
CupcakeTom 2 years ago
No. You just need a MIDI with a Melody part. Preferably a vocal part, though.
