To anybody actually thinking that this is a sport, bear in mind that it's one of the fighting arts banned in MMA. This is actual combat techniques used to maim and kill. It's used by the most elite fighting forces in the world so don't put crazy comments of guns. a person that knows techniques of kali and taking a gun away certainly knows how to hold a gun so as not to be taken away. likewise, a man who doesn't know will just point it anyway.
@lokiperez12 if you really want to learn kali, go to the heart of kali/escrima... Cebu. for the more ancient form you can go to negros. luzon doesn't have a fighting style except sikaran... the two other filipino martial arts all hail from the visayas. Dumog and Kali all originated from the Visayas. So get your history straight, boy. We did, afterall, use our Kali to fight off and kill Magellan. Do remember that the very first national hero was Lapu-lapu.
good knife fighter can be found here in my province in negros occidental which is part of the visayan islands. from cebu negros dwon to panay good fma practioners can be found there. some of the sword are made in negros and panay island, me my self have one made in the municipality of bingawan in panay its razor sharp it cud cut a human bone!
filipino kali is not a sport but a way to survive..how take out an opponent fast and efficient while your life is in the line of fire because when somebody is about to kill you their is no timeouts no turning back...
real fights in the philippines are a lot nastier, more violent and bloody... i've witnessed a few... but i can see that these bastards are really good! that's a compliment from a filipino who knows the real deal!!! mabuhay!
@MAzudemS Like in Chinese Martial Arts where Wu Shu, Wing Chun, Hung Gar and Taiji are very different, so it is in the FMA. Some styles focus more on bladed weapons, some more on stick work, some more on self defense. Also some styles us a lot footwork some don't.
Filipino Fighting Arts is 50/50 weapon training (sticks, knife ...) and empty hand training (Boxing, Kickboxing, Trapping, Grappling, Self defense ...).
why im telling this?its because alot of comments from all videos of martial arts have negative comments and claiming their arts is the best. its like your judging the book by its cover. i practice martials for 19 yrs Arnis and Aikido. i trained american soldiers in their camp here in zamboanga. wishing every can make peace. cause martial arts is not a sports but a self defence. not make fire but to bring peace and unity. @tjamesmontojo Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that martial artists shouldn't hide the origin of their techniques. We don't claim to to have invented all our techniques. Our style is a blend and at our website you can read about our background and from which respected styles our knowledge is derived.
Also we don't claim to have the best martial arts. All styles have their advantages and purpose and we are all one family. At the end it's a question of training, mind set and luck.

my question is that why that a lot of people are trying to claim their martial arts is best but in the end they still studying, applying/ using another technique and art in their martial arts? in the end they will claim its their technique trying to deny that they learned it from another art. all i can say to every martial artist, stop claiming that your martials is the best if your art is not pure art. all martial art are really good and applicable in actual. its just a matter of practice.
@DeliBalta02 I know women who have disarmed men... don't be ignorant, read history .. there have been many great female warriors and even now women serve in armies all over the world.
Thank you for your comment. You are right, that the best thing is to run. But you may can't run away, because you are in company with someone slow. Training against armed opponents is no guarantee, but it will increase your chances. If you will survive is a question of both opponents skill level (training), luck and mental strengh (training).
About woman: I don't agree. Winning is not always a question of power. There are lots of effective targets. Girls do selfdefense!
