  • That's Vista for ya.

  • Is this uploader joking? My desktop's just as fast as this and I've got a crappy Maxtor 125GB HDD in mine. Something's not right here.

  • I pull myself back on SSD because of the price!

I'm waiting for either a 300 GB SSD + + will be cheaper!

  • wow my computer boots faster and i just have a 7200 rpm hard drive, i think cause of the service pack 2 .... >:D

  • THROW AWAY RAPTORS AND GET SSD

  • velociraptors are in the dinosaur age, ssd is today age

  • That didn't seem fast at all. Maybe I'll save some cash and go for a regular hard drive then.

  • thats funny, I bought a velocirator yesterday and Ive got the EXACT same boot time with my Vista. I think it is pretty good... faster thab that would be Raid or SSD.

  • Is that a fresh install of vista. My cheapo Hitachi drive starts a fresh install of vista in half that time.

The little vista loading bar doesn't even make it all the way across.

    Pathetic

  • A boot time of 37 secs is realy fast especially on vista

  • thats pretty quick

  • pathetic

  • that's not that fast, my twin 500GB seagate barracuda's do it in that amount of time.

  • slow, especially for raid

  • @dwarfer777 Umm, take into consideration that he has Windows Vista installed :P

  • freakin slow!!

  • seriously that is slow for velociraptors.

  • damn I need to post a vid of my 300gb raptors in raid 0 they boot from vista loading to main screen in 10 seconds

  • All of you saying you boot faster, POST THE VIDEO PROOF! I'm not saying that the video of this boot is as fast as it gets but it's respectable. He obviously doesn't even have it all optimized for ultra fast booting, just the number of gadgets in the sidebar tells you that. Stop acting like fools. Sure you can optimize the OS for minimal boot but this is obviously just an average real-world setup and not one minimalized for boot time. Grow up kiddies.

  • This video isn't doing the Velociraptor any justice. I'm guessing this guy doesn't have a good motherboard or hasn't set it up properly. These thing's can shave off a good 10-30 seconds depending on how extreme your rig is.

  • "These thing's can shave off a good 10-30 seconds"

Sure, shave of 30 seconds... idiot...lol

  • Honestly, I have not seen too much improvement with the velociraptors. Maybe a few seconds here and there but overall, not really worth the money. Raiding them is also useless.

  • I'm glad someone is giving some real-world and accurate commentary on Raptors. A few years ago they had a huge edge, they are now no longer worth the price (investment?).

  • The hell they arent I just got one and it is nice!

  • My 7200 rpm HDD boots in less than a minute on Vista. What's so impressive about this video?

    You fail

  • A minute? That's way too slow

  • lol you're such a tard

  • ...says the one with a 1 minute boot time...sigh

  • still loling at you

  • ...says the one with a 1 minute boot time...sigh

  • wow mine 3 year old 320 still boots vista ultamite faster.

  • LOL!

  • Christ, my 7200rpm drive boots vista ultimate twice as fast as that xD

  • super lento el inicio, ademas el video esta acelerado jajaj

  • WOOOOW!!

  • wtf is the point of this???

1 have a 1tb 7200rpm drive. laugh at me but i saved a lot and my boot up is not much slower.

  • that wasn't even fast, my pc with a 7200 rpm hd boots up quicker then that...

  • sure

  • my 7200 500gb boots faster as well.

  • Hm....I have a Seagate 250gb, 8mb hardrive and mine booted up to Windows in 33 seconds. I timed it once the posting started, after the logo. However, when Windows started yours seemed to be much faster but I think I had a lot more starting programs, such as Steam, Mcafee, Xfire, AOL, Razer Lachesis Drive, etc. Which probably took 10-15 seconds to boot up.

  • An I-Ram works more faster than WD!

  • HOLY SHIT! that's fast, imagine four in raid 0 *drools*

  • it wouldnt be raid0..

  • read the intel matrix storage console when it pops up, its raid 0

  • I used to have 2 raptor 74gb in raid0 and it would take me less than it takes you to boot...now i have 3 Samsung F1 750gb in raid0 and at less than half the price you paid i get almost 4 times moar space and it takes me 10 secs to boot into vista. A single Velociraptor is for n00bs that literally do not know how to better waste their money...go figure what a raid0 is...EPIC FAIL.

  • Umm a decent Raid 0 is expensive as shit.

  • if you turn off the ncq and windows file indexing you will get a faster response time with your VRs in 0 raid. this will push them up another 10 to 12 percent in speed. then see how fast they go.

  • where do you need to go to do that?

  • The NCQ function is a function of the BIOS. If you are not at and advanced user you should not try this yourself.

As for the 'windows file indexing' here is what you do:

-->open my computer; right click on 'C:' drive or whatever drive your velociraptor is set at, go down to properties, this opens a window, on the main tab that pops up at the bottom there is a checked box that is labeled "Index this drive for faster searching", uncheck this box and then press okay.

  • I have a single velociraptor, and yet it boots faster than you raid 0 set up.

  • So you don't need to do anything in bios?

Cos you mentioned the NCQ funtcion what should i do on that?

  • fast fast fast! If I were rich, I´d buy four velociraptor 300gb and I´d do raid 0! I will be crazy !! it´d stay very very fast!

  • mine gets in tomorrow =]

  • nice =D
