Tibet was feudal in the 1940s, and the clothing was medieval at least for some of the poorer Tibetans, but Tibetans were spiritually very strong and sorted many things out that some countries still don't have sorted out.
Tibetans got rid of the death penalty in 1913, unlike the US and China (and a bunch of other countries) in 2011.

I'm not saying people should not be outraged by the Chinese government's actions, but everyone in the US should be aware that their arguments don't bear much validity to outsiders because the only reason we exist as a country is because we wiped out the native people here.
Unless you acknowledge that and do something to honor that, I doubt the Chinese government will take any kind of moral argument seriously.
For the most part the only arguments that affect governments are economic arguments.
