i really didnt think this movie was that good. the only funny parts were the moments that jesus got some camera time and GUTTERBALLS part....that was amazing.
kinda weird how things actually turned out good for Jeff bridges and Steve buccemi but i was kinda sad to see John goodman go..... but you know sometimes you eat the bar.... sometimes well...
Why do I always have a fat grin watching this scene? It just seems like something most people won't get if they live outside of California. It feels so local in its rendition.
You know, I wasn't really that into this movie until this scene, and somehow this one bit made the entire thing into a masterpiece for me. I could listen to Sam Elliott talk all day long.
@pumpkinman321 i saw bits of it when i was about 12 in the 90's and thought the story was about "the jesus" so i dismissed it, years later i watched the whole thing and when it wrapped up.... it just made sense... like a section of life was complete LOL
@king802 oh wow yea me too man, this movie holds sentiment definitely, i cant sum life up in a better way "Sometimes you eat the bar and well, sometimes the bar eats you...."
damn you cut the scene before the strike. All that perfect dialog followed by the strike is directorial genius... too bad, but thanks for posting, it still abides!
I think the moral of the story is that no matter what kind of crazy unnecessary shit goes down you just gotta be happy with what you got.
The dude went through a lot but does not care because as long as he has a little weed, his hobby bowling, his buddies, and a broken down apartment that he crashes in he is zen.
@DAVIDVINCENTDURING Not sure I know either, but it worked. The movie is a cult classic now. Strange, and stoner, but a good movie. Take care Dude, I know ya will.
I don't know why, but when I watched this movie (I was high of course ^^) it gave such insane head trips. I was totally blown away by the dude. And somehow I felt like the guy on the bar was god or something. ^^
@casperado666 Abiding is basically staying the same and keeping the same atitude. Basically, he's saying that while he goes through shit, he doesn't dwell in it and just keeps living life.
@Alphabex8 i've seen the movie like 100 times but in german and ukrainian. ;) gotta watch it in original some day. thx for your explanation, the online dictionaries didn't seem to make any sense!
@Alphabex8 i'm addicted to german version. the translation is friggin funny. they translated all the "fucks" into "bekackt" though, which means "shitty" but it suits the German language better anyway. in general the germans do amazing job translating english stuff - simpsons, futurama, Clerks II were hilarious in German. i didnt find scenes from the german version on the tube - only this - watch?v=olEbBgS0oDc . You cant hear much of the dude's voice though
@casperado666 cool. but if you want to better your English watch the original. although, you seem to understand English well enough, you write better than some Americans...
