  • the star is coming ya daft fucks !!

  • :D the words on the book are german , it says : Lines writen in Ryleth

  • Creepy.

  • really very good

  • @JakobsMovieTutorials i never said it had to be the sameas in call of cthulhu. according to lovecraft all the statues around the world are ALMOST (im emphasising almost) the same, and no offence to the guy who made this but thats way

  • you got the statue wrong. but other thn that good job

  • Both H.P. Lovecraft and Cthulhu are proud of the people who made this film.

However, the former thinks that old man was stupid. The latter thinks the man's soul tastes good.

  • this would make a great Rpg game, due to the fact that this can be built upon say, on the opening scene where he got the box that would be the first cutscene in the game, then you have to bring the chest back open, so on and so forth, you would also have a sanity meter, and you would travel up the tower of ryleh and the final boss is cthulthu and then at the final cut scene your character is face down in the water.

  • ok i saw ! 3ds max , after effects..... and you modeled everything ? even the sea ?

  • you made this film ? i was always curious how it is created ? what programs you used ? thanks for your time !

  • i LOVE that music when his house disappears

  • "Someone says you light up the universe it's there in your heart then crazy comes to call bring me down I'm only an everyone running from free running from me and though it's none of my choosing I'm loosing my insanity again
  • "rectus! Dominus!"

  • WONDERFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If I were a fish... erman. Bloody bloody bloody bubbly bloody blub.

  • Sanity -1 of 1

Move to Arkham Hospital and wait for recovery

  • very beautiful film. superb. excellent. especially loved the part when Ryleh manifests itself. fantastic music as well

  • i don't understand the end, it was only a dream since when he takes that chest what is the book i can see this history

  • might you post a download link?

  • @Shadow7787 You can download the movie in medium resolution on the official page (link in official infos)!

Let me know if you want it in high resolution!

    Thanks for your comments!

  • @Cedrikovitch ive heard that rlyeh somewhere located in the pacific ocean......

  • What is the song, it is so beautiful :D

  • @landship92 The song is an original music composed for the movie!

  • Beautiful. Music, Video, and animation.

  • God, anymore of these and I swim down there to fish up the motherfucker myself !!

  • For a moment, I thought Cthuhlu going to poop his head off the water and said: "thanks, man, been a while seen the last time the start is right again".

  • Well done!

  • Je trouve le mélange de beauté et d'horreur qui se dégage de la musique très original et particulièrement adapté au contexte--- :D

  • My "dream" is to go to this city : DDDD

  • Amazing. Good representation. Perhaps a little confusing to somebody who didn't read the book(I did) but other than that it was great.

  • @TheNightsMoon what's the meaning and the book please

  • Beautiful. Well done. Outstanding. Bravo!

  • The movie adaptations I've seen of Lovecraft's work always end up being ridiculous. The good adaptations are here on YouTube. Maybe I should stop going to the movies and just dig around on here somemore. Amazing work. I hope to see more.

  • In a way, i think it would be kind of cool to have LoveCraft's story come true. Idk, just me? :p

  • If such wonders exisited.

  • I believe I will watch this again and again....

  • love it! lovecraft would prolly enjoy watchin it lol

  • My name's Cthulhu

    Oh R'yleh?

    Yes, R'lyeh

  • @circlemeth that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death can die" is a quote from the necronomicon,, and yes i know it sounds stupid

  • @southparknerd117 doesnt sound very stupid to me

    sounds like lovecraft

  • @southparknerd117 That's because Lovecraft DREAMT it. It came straight out of his subconscious mind.

  • Lovecraft is not dead, only resting with dagon and cthulhu in ryleh, because he knows "that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death can die"

  • Beautiful! Thankyou.

  • so ... how do you pronounce cthulu? kah-too-loo? kath-ool-loo? some other way?

  • @blader09111 I've heard that according to Lovecraft himself it should be something like "Kuh-loo-loo". The "th" is supposed to mark a sort of barking or coughing sound in the beginning. Seems that Lovecraft's idea of joking to have people guessing at the correct pronounciation of the name.

  • amazing

  • Best interpretation of the city of R'Lyeh I've ever seen! Light, beauty, peace...but still alien and sinister. Very vell done indeed.

  • We precise (due to the number of comments about it) that because of copyright issues we called the movie "Ryleh" instead of R'Lyeh. We wanted to show it in various festivals but we didn't know if we had the right to use the word "R'Lyeh" (in France we can't use anything about "Tintin" because of the copyrights, even amateurs). That's why we changed the name a little bit... But in the movie, we kept the right spelling on the book.

  • @Cedrikovitch

All of H.P. Lovecrafts works are the common domain.

You can use the name R'lyeh, if you like. No one's going to come after you... at all.

I could write a book about R'lyeh. No one would sue me.

  • @Cedrikovitch Contact Arkham House. They are about the only extent authority atm, and they are very willing to let people develop their own projects.

  • @Cedrikovitch Have you considered making the music available for download? I wouldn't even mind paying for it on iTunes. The music between 2:55 and 4:03 is absolutely amazing. :D

  • It's spelled R'lyeh not Ryleh.

  • I had pasta with shellfish and calamari earlier... I feel like I've committed a grievous sin. Maybe I can earn penance through human sacrifice.

  • 29 deep ones disliked this video

  • Very dark and eerie, and it puts me in a Lovecraftian mood

  • Just brilliant. Dark and moody and with more questions than answers by the end. A true work of the Lovecraftian mythos.

  • My Uncle thought that he was sane, but failed the test provided by the H.P.L.H.S.

He now sits, repeating a strange, incomprehensible series of "words"... His eyes once proud, now appear to gaze upon vast, dark chasms. Life slowly drains from him and we can only wonder... "My God, why have you forsaken him?".

  • hello je ne comprends pas pourquoi plein de gens appellent la ville ryleh car c'est r'lyeh, avez vous fait ca pour une question de droits? clap clap tres joli... Cthulhu fthagn!

  • Comment removed

  • A lot smoother animation than most of the Lovecraft shorts I've seen. Great job guys!

  • WOW. Insane, but..WOW

  • R'Lyeh!

  • Not Ryleh but R'lyeh... whatever, nice movie.

  • stupid man dos he not know that something evil or supernatural has something to do with it really pothetic "oh hey the necronomicon and a statuette of cthulhu!! i gotta tell my mommy!!"

  • Great Lovecraft

  • cthulhu and the matrix

  • it diddint have to be from ryleh... mabey a big daddy miss fired and he was hit from rapture;P

  • Alot of people sighting sanity lost. This is good! Madness frees the mind to new heights, and the imagination to unconquered realms.

  • It's R'lyeh!!!

  • @subjulio Srsly! They didn't evens pell it right. I also hate when people mispronounce it.

  • Okay everyone. make a SAN check

    *rolls dice* I got a 1

  • @mager56723 -rolls, gets a 20 and still loses sanity-

  • Fantastic! It captures H.P.L.'spirit perfectly! The c.g.i. animation was beautiful.

  • nice video

  • I really like this video and the music that is used.

What is the name of the track that is played?

  • Huh. Interesting. I like how it meshes with the original Lovecraft. The Cthulhu was a little chubby for my taste though.

  • @DragonflightProduct

LOL C'thulhu will not go on a diet for you or anyone, devourers must be corpulent !

  • Hmm... I like the house and coastline alot... the character's walking animation was wierd, though. Like he was gliding. Oh- and it kind of defies logic that one could pull up a chest of that size without even a miniscule struggle. All in all, though- I loved it.

  • Very powerful animation! Great

  • Very nicely done!

  • Defiantly captured the essence of Lovecraft's tales. I love it! Amazingly told for being so short, bravo! :D

  • ooh, for sure. This is pure essence animation. Well done, mate!

  • I bet Even Cthulhu would be proud of this.... Amazing.. Favorited.

  • @Nemesis0300

    y..you mean lovecraft? lol

  • ..no? Cthulhu.. His character. I was joking...

  • Indescribably ....potential

  • i believe i lost a little bit of my sanity watching this

  • @acesonfire lol you have sanity

  • @acesonfire As have most of us dear friend.

  • ...but isn't it "R'lyeh" ?? i always thought it was written like that...

  • @sweetpotatoefish

    You are right.

  • Very nice indeed! congratulations.awsome.

    hurray to Lovecraft!

  • Brilliant vid. 5*

  • That was stunning. amazingly well made. I'm sure Lovecraft himself would appreciate the beauty and horror expressed in this short film. Great job!

  • good, really, like a single page story of H.P.Lovecraft

  • Absolutely incredible work! I don't know how I didn't find this before.. One of the best realizations of sanity-blasting visions I have seen.. ia!

  • Choice! It's Marvellous!

  • awesome.

  • WOW!!! GREAT STUFF!!!

  • Wow!! a great movie!!!! Did you make more of these short films?

  • awesome

  • Amazing

  • Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Best of luck in all future endeavors.

  • Una representación increible de la lectura lovecraftiana, Domo arigato =D !!!

  • Very nice video :D enjoyed it a lot!

  • wonderful! Lovecraft would have loved to see this!

  • Astounding! If this were the opening scene to a computer game or video game, I would by it in a heartbeat!!!

Words cannot express what an amazing job your team has done in capturing the mood of the peice!

  • It's brilliant!:D I like it and i like this musics!;) Congratulation! I'a Cthulhu...!:)

  • Pretty good! And the music was just awesome!

  • alguien sabe como se llama la musica de fondo????

  • hahahhahaha

  • FOR TEH LULZ

  • H.P. Lovecraft, we'll never forget him. Not even when we die.

  • Well done. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow, that was actually a pretty awesome clip, I was honestly very impressed with it, definite Kudos!

  • Flawless, I'm only sad you misspelled the name R'Lyeh. Man...

  • Magnifique! En ferez-vous d'autres du même genre?

  • Awesome music!

  • Absolutely amazing - glorious!

  • Cthulhu Fhtagn!

Hey, I love it. What I like the most the conception of R´lyeh itself. It´geometry should be incomprehensible in my opinon and you did it just fine ;o)

  • I'a I'a

  • R'lyeh. r'LYeh

  • The atmosphere is amazing, makes me want to write something about Cthulhu myself.

    5 stars for you! :)

  • Nicely done.

  • Fantasticly made. Wonderful. Fit Lovecraft's stories and Ancient R'yleh perfectly!

  • Tres bien tres tres tres bien, excellent!

    Bueno, Bravo!

    PERFECT!!

    superhästi tehtud

okay, okay, it was just lovely :) I also liked the geometry, but was also hoping to see some deep ones or dagon or someone else.

    very nice job indeed.

  • Well, it wasn´t necessary. There was the atmosphere, I saw Cthulhu painted and everything a thousand times and always different from my thoughs of how he should look like. I´m glad he wasn´t there. Furthermore Lovecraft describes him as something gigantic, dreadfully big and monstrous. I don´t like when someone draws Cthulhu the same height as a human ;o)

  • The music was amazing, and the non-euclidean geometry was perfectly pieced together. All in all a wonderful piece of work. Grand job, folks. :)

  • The atmosphere of this film really draws you in (sort of like the man in the film). Terrific little piece of film making.

  • Out-freaking-standing! I loved it

  • Would only that it were longer. FANTASTIC.

  • wow. Awesome

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

  • IA CUL CTHULHU CTHUNAE......,

This is a fantastic animation, more power than many other efforts I truly salute the creators, beautifuly crafted and percise in realisation of concept, Hollywood and world cinema as a whole can take a leaf out of the creators of this videos book, truly Magnificent. I deffinitely want to see more.

  • I loved those effects when the fisharman's house started to warp and shift into non-euclidian geometry, the music is also quite beautiful as it's not just attempting to be creepy, but beautiful and unsettling.

  • Nothing has ever given me stronger chills than this film.

  • ПОТОМУ ЧТО НЕФИГ РЫБУ ЛОВИТЬ ГДЕ НИ ПОПАДЯ

  • It is a graet video and haunting too.

  • I LOVED the music, it went great with what was going on.

  • Nice short, and very mysterious. The music is good too for this short ;)

  • so i love H.P. Lovecraft and have seen many fan videos of his. this is by far the most visually stunning work. I felt that you captured the beauty within the horror of his work. And i am happy to hear that you didn't just through some random horror music over the top of the video. It was eery yet soothing at the same time.

  • I'A! I'A! Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

... Sorry, that happens sometimes. Well met!

  • Lovecraft's style of horror (as with many authors in the late 1800's and early 1900's) was more geared towards being unnerving or eerie than it was towards being truly scary. I feel that the maker(s) of this short film preserved this well. My only complaint would be the fisherman's falling into the void, rather than collapsing onto (presumably) the dark streets of R'Lyeh (the traits of the city are so otherworldly that it cannot be processed by the brain and the viewer either goes mad or dies).

  • Wonderful!! Little note; it's actually spelled "R'Lyeh" (I'm a Lovecraft freak).

  • yes you are

  • not bad for frenchies.

  • Awesome! Well done... You had me captured!

Those 5 minutes went by far too quick!

1 star for every minute and 10 secondes :p

  • Lovecraft would be proud.

  • Excellent

  • That was great.

  • did u make dat???

  • Amazing, beautiful graphics and atmosphere, true lovecraftian feeling. 5 stars

  • All around great!!

  • It's amazing! Very beautiful and impressive!

  • Wonderful atmosphere...I think good old Lovecraft would be proud of this. The graphics almost looked like something out of Half-Life 2. As for the music, it was very effective, although to be honest I was expecting something similar to the Ligeti music that was used in 2001 such as "Atmosphères." Still, excellent in every field.

  • Hi..Thank you for your interest! But unfortunatly the music is not available anywhere! I'm sorry about that..but you can find "Ryleh" on the DVD "Best of Imagina Trips 2004", they processed the sound in 5.1..that's all that I can do for you..for now!

    Best regards.

    Ced.

  • i dont get it id he set free cathulu or was he locked in rlyeh or was it all atrance from the book

  • Great job1 Felt extremely true to the source and a beautifully artistic vision!

  • Kick ass!!!!!!

the quality of the animation is EPIC!

theese guys should make full movies or PC games...

and i loved the boat house that was pretty original i think and well i dont know..

    5 stars on my behalf...

deffenetly prettyest animation i have seen this year.

  • R'lyeh on dit !!!

  • Cool Creepy Music. Nice editing. The Ens Sucks I thought he will morph himself into a Fishman or something

  • freakin awesome

I wish there were more of those :D

  • amazing video i was put into a trance for like 5 minutes lol wonderful music

  • Truly wonderful, magical video.

  • Isn't it R'lyeh? I am not sure but I think it was R'lyeh not Ryleh

  • Yes, it is. No idea how this changed - language differential? Lovecraft was superb. Have you seen the fake interview with him video? It's pretty good. And this one is good too, though it does remind me of a few games.

  • I think I read somewhere that French doesn't use apostrophies, so that might be it.
