Oh! I love beans and I love soup. There are some dear ladies at my locoal library( dear dolls not sexistly meant 0 love this soup too. Thanks Mary Ann! have a great day and week!
Dried beans are a frugal winner! Your mustardy lentil salad is just great. (And presoaking so seldom needed.) Dried beans just need planning so they can be soaked or softened -- they are toxic and nasty, otherwise. I cannot even stand prepared soups anymore. The homemades taste better the second day and any leftovers can be cooled and frozen for later. Your roasted pepper soup was a winner here and the leftovers so useful for other dishes! Wow, great channel! Uprated.
I missed my American crockpot here in France and tried to get Rival Corp. to sell them here. NO ANSWER. I now use a cocotte, a heavy enameled pot with a grooved lid ("Dutch oven"), on an electric burner at the lowest setting for a smilar effect. I find tomatoes should only be added in the last hour or they toughen the beans. I remember very good black bean soup in the States. We had Cuban/Chinese takeout for awhile in Manhattan. I dunno what THAT was but it was good! Uprated.
@pastryparrot1 I have a video uploading about poule au pot. I used a stainless steel pot as it yielded so much, so had to cook without salt (except for a pinch already in my spice mix). The Dutch ovens are really tough and salt is no prob for them. I like how they can go on the stove, in the oven, in front of a hearth or fire, even. Every French home has one, as well as a metal box for sugar cubes! It is very funny. They need those CUBES! xo
Frijoles negros one of my favorite beans for soup making. I like to put some corn tortillas with this!! Or maybe a pupusa con queso or two!! Thanks Mary Ann!
