hang gliding looks cool but i honestly think you are still better off paying to fly commercially and its alot safer to. Plus you get to sit down and relax and eat nice food and you get a window seat. Also its cheaper. HAng gliders are not cheap. I agree it looks cool but i have figured out the cost makes it not worth the bother

can hang gliders actually launch from high cliffs in calm or zero wind conditions? AM i right thinking they can only remain wings level when flying into a headwing directly or direct tailwin? will any kind of crosswind cause the upwind wing to raise up high and be unable to remain level. Will they fly well in zero wind conditions apart from the relative wind caused by the movement of the glider.

This is Randall Airport (06N), Middletown, NY. Not Central Valley, not Woodbury Commons, and not exactly 'upstate'. Also not fake, not dangerous tricks, and ... really... almost fell off? Please. Those guys there run a commercial operation giving rides to people with too much extra money in their pocket - don't go there expecting to get a tow. I do like the nice rectangular, standard aircraft landing pattern done for the benefit of the sailplane operation.

This isn't The Matrix, it's a 4-minute YouTube video. If it was fake, the producer would've insisted upon matte-finish helmets, to avoid the unnecessary time/cost of fixing the reflections in post.

Take a look at the camera mount pole swivel mounted on the down tube, check the camera angles, watch the wind. You can't fake all the elements in there without a lot of work. Why bother when flying is easier?

@1984metalhead Not when you fall out of the sky, but they protect on rough takeoffs and landings. Hang gliding and paragliding pilots have a reserve chute if they crash, in which case the helmet protects against trees and low speed impacts to the head.
