  • This video went viral on Suva

  • why did they bother making the ER version i thought the ordinary 747-400 was big enough already

  • For extended range with an increased payload

  • There are water passing below the wing, what is it?.....

  • The body of water passing underneath is Botany Bay. Noise abatement means that most 747's arriving in Sydney must approach from the south east over the Tasman Sea and then over Botany Bay.

  • It's vapor (condensation)

  • smooth landing !!

  • Geez simply love the way the spoilers, the flaps move and sorta bounce a bit and flex like that...dontcha find this fascinating hmmmmm?

  • HAHAHA LOL yesss i fynd it realli fascinating :D

  • Its A Boeing 747-400ER not a Boeing 740.

    Otherwise good video.

    =)

  • How do you know it is ER? There is no way to tell

  • Qantas only have a 744ER

  • was on the same flight this july

  • yes they do, theres also a rudderish thing on the tail ( i forget what its called) that steers the plane while its on the ground...

  • its called a rudder and they dont usually use that they use the tiller

  • no the rudder is only for the air. They actually have a steering wheel to their side that moves the wheel on the ground.

  • Rudder are also used for Takeoff and Landing, you can see in some videos !!!

  • THOSE TINY THINGS TURN THE PLANE XD

  • yes they do, theres also a rudder sort of thing up the back of the tail (i forget what its called) that steers the plane while its on the ground

  • actually, the rudder controls the direction of the nose when flying (eg. landing during crosswinds). to steer the aircraft on the ground the pilots use the rudder pedals with the brake on what side the want to turn, so if they want to turn onto a taxiway to their left they would push left of the rudder pedal and if its a tightish turn they will also press the left brake slightly.

  • Queensland and northern territory aerial services QANTAS! :-)

  • btw, why is it often stated that Qantas has never had a crash? how is this even possible?

  • Because they are the best airline in the world with an impeccable record :)

  • Ok. First off the usual VREF (Landing Reference) speed of a B747-400 is around 150KIAS depending on weight which translates to over 200Km per/h depending on winds. He wasnt coming in fast at all. Its definetly not Singapore, as YSSY's tower is unique and in obvious positioning. And finally yes, all Qantas B747-400's are equipped with On-Demand IFE systems with individual monitors per seat in all classes. Seating arrangment is 3-4-3.

  • hiii!! i'm a spanish girl and in one month i'm travelling to sydney in this plane, so i would like to know if the seats have tv or not(i'm in the tourist class), and what is the plane like inside, becouse i'm travelling myself during 30h (spain - australia) and i'll really get bored

  • En qantas si tienen tv pero en otras aerolineas yo no se...

  • very smooth landing... well done Qantas pilot!!!

  • I Love Planes...

  • Qantas pilots are all very professional.

  • he came in quite fast

  • No he didnt! its called a bloddy aeroplane that travels at like neary 1000km/hour

  • he landed at 1000km/hour? is that what you are saying?

  • Actually thats only during cruise, They travel less on the approach but yes they do still go very fast.

  • I've noticed on all Qantas landing videos that the pilots land hard...

  • That wasn't a hard landing. What the hell.

  • theyve been flyin for a whole day thoe and that landing was smooth

  • Another quality landing by a QF 744. Qantas, still the world's greatest airline, IMO. Thanks to our excellent pilots, as well.

  • actually its singapore

  • :)

Love Sydney, miss it so much

  • keep on flying qantas , from a qantas flight attendant , we are the best.

  • Great job, keep it up! Long live the 747, forever queen of the skies!

  • this airplane is freash out of the box!!

  • why isn't anyone answering me

  • i really want to know what city you tookoff from

  • and JFK too

  • does anyone know why there is so many qantas airlines at lax.

  • I'm not 100% sure....but I'm pretty positive it's like that because all their flights come in early in the morning so the crew can have their rest periods...and then they all leave at night. LAX and SFO are the only 2 airports in the US that Qantas flies into.

  • new york as well

  • because we have daily flights to lax from a qantas flight attendant , it is a very busy good profitable route for us . cheers from australia .

  • what was your departure city

  • I like the flaps retracting ^^
