hey when u use the burlap on ur next ghillie make sure u cut it into a 2ft by 2ft square and then fray it 1 string at a time because if u don't u end up waisting halv the burlap and u have 2 buy more :) nice job on yours just pray paint it a lighter color :"D
Ive always said the same about DPM aswell, too dark. Its good for bush but open ground it hard. Ive got a new ghillie system ive made myself with burlap now :)
vivalaspeedway you can get a ghillie suit like that from your army surplus or a hunting store where they have stalker ponchos, but they dont work as well. if you get a ghillie suit just cut of the sleeves and the hood and sow or button a baseball cap onto it, and just cut off the zipper on the ghillie and add a button where your neck goes. hope this helps!
verry nice vid but for the ghillie i would add more dead grass (foilage) due to the fact that the grass is much lighter in color than the actual ghillie, again this is just for your info
I hate to do this, I really do, but if you weren't flopping around and just crawled on one side(or least less exuberantly), it'd be much harder to spot you. The ghille suit is really effective there though :D
Also, I do know that you know better than I, I'm just pointing it out.
@thecrew785 I'm not a real sniper however i am an infantryman in the british army and it all depends on the situation and mission. If the mission was to provide support fire for a retreating force I imagine the sniper would be firing more then if he was on a stalk looking for high price targets.
@thecrew785 I was a sniper in 3 Para. As you say it depends situation to situation, I did 2 tours and only fired my rifle 4 times. I know others who have fired hundreds of times.
Snipers don't cover their barrels at all, and contrary to myths, they don't hide like a lot of people think. Many of the time its close range protection looking over walls in plain sight but from distance. Most of the training is basic concealment, escape and evasion and of course marksman.
@thecrew785 A large part of a marksman/sniper in the Brit army is to relay info. It is all about self control and keeping your head. Winding your neck in and staying down. To get by sniper selection you have to be shit hot at navigation. They will take you out and let you loose with a bearing and a map. Then you do EAE with the regular lot chasing you in aswell. Btw Paul good on you for joining, well done.
hey paul i was wondering in when real snipers for the marines and army cover their snipers, if they covered the end of the barrel with dry hay for a dry condition would the heat of when the round is fired set fire to the hay?
@lkj802 They do yes, but the explosion created when firing pin hits the percussion cap is contained within the bolt and does not escape out so propels the round down the barrel. So there is no way that it would catch fire. Say if you had hay on the SA80 it could cause the weapon to jam and stop working due to over heating but that is because of the higher rate of fire the SA80 is used at.
i spotted you easy cause im used to seeing that dark ghillie of yours. i know what to look for ;) my ghillie is better for that grass land cause its burlap. yours is better in Vietnam tbf, works mint! hehee had to comment
