  • hey max, great work, who's the actress pulling a line @01:10? I'd like to cast for a part.. thnxs.

  • what kind of film did you use for the shot with the homeless guy?

  • @grispic - it was Fuji Eterna 250D, I think

  • Is it possible to re-upload this video with some captions explaining the different stocks you're using? As a future cinematographer, It'd be very educational to compare. Thanks, and great job!

  • I'm guessing superspeeds?

  • What Aaton do you own? The LTR, the XTR Prod,...?

  • absolutely flawless.. bravo! the 16mm is way ahead of quality.. the depth feel ---- everything is just brilliant..

  • Hey Max, compliments for your reel. Cinematography is good, but here the real question is how did you encode this video to obtain such a good quality on you tube??? Did you bypass the youtube encoder uploading a flv with an higher bitrate as few people have done? Otherwise what kind of file did you prepare for the upload on youtube? Cheers

  • I wanted to get the same quality with a film camera is there a cheap 16mm camera I could find?

  • whats the song?

  • max wich aaton is this? this sick dude!

  • It's LTR54.

  • how do you record sound when shooting with film?

  • Beautiful work. This would make a good promotion for 16mm film - for those considering trying out the medium. Just shows what good lenses and a creative mind can do. Inspirational.

  • I'm 16 and I'm dying to go to filmschool... I can't wait to get my hands on 16mm!

  • my god man!

    so sharp and beautiful...

Surpases digital technology in the means of quality!

    Good work!

  • I also would like to know the song in this, its very nice.

  • well i have been working with digital and film for the past 7 years, and Digital is my main medium right now (Canon Xl2) but i want to work with Film as my main medium and i am trying to find a cheap way in.

  • Hey,

I am trying hard to find a way to shoot Super 16 as my main medium, can you tell me how much the AAton cam u have is, and how much it is to shoot on film and transfer it to digital for editing????

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Fantastic work by the way!

  • You don't even need an Aaton if you're just starting out. Look at Eclairs on ebay. Just make sure you get quality lenses - older Zeiss super speeds are sharp and inexpensive.

  • @maxkovalsky DONT DO IT! Buy a nice used Arri SR, they're cheap as hell now. We made the mistake of buying not one, but TWO S16 Eclair ACL's. What happened afterwords is more grief then can be summed up in 500 characters. A dozen trips to an Eclair tech in New York and another in LA, and then many thousands of dollars later at Visual Products...before we had production-ready cameras. Had we known then, what we know now, the tiny bit more for the SR would ended up WAY cheaper. Avoid Eclair!

  • That was good. Can i ask how much the LTR 54 costed you ?

  • Finally, the first 16mm short I've seen on YT that actually has good cinematography.

  • I agree! This is well done. Beautiful light and framing. Where do you live, Maxim?

  • Thanks! I live in New York.

  • Oh. That's too far away from germany to collaborate. Anyway, I wish you all the best in your career!

  • Excellent, what model aaton? lenses? I like it a lot.

  • Aaton LTR 54. I mostly used Zeiss primes and a Canon for the zooms. Some softer shots were filmed with an older Angenieux.

  • Arvo Part

  • Insanely beautiful! may i ask who composed the music ?
