GE is the largest weapons manufacture and one of the largest medical equipment providers. You get the big picture? BUT NOOOooooo!!! It's F@#$ING MANBEAR PIG!!!!
Yet GE's contributions pale to the money given to by fossil fuel companies to the republicans and to Astroturf the teabaggers.
Funny how you ignore that, just as how you ignore that at the behest of the coal companies the republicans & teabaggers are trying to increase poisoning the public with mercury and other toxins. Care to tell us how increasing toxic pollution of the public's air and water is protecting the people? Funny how it only benefits the rich contributors isn't it?
It has been fascinating to read this spirited exchange stimulated, apparently, by our video. To the Progressives//Environmentalists: Intelligent power management lies at the heat of controlling climate-killing waste.
To the Conservatives: These are private businesses, many very small and recall that grid intelligence is a security from terror requirement.
And to all: The grid as kludged together today is in partial FAIL mode all the time. It needs repair/replacement.
"Governments will invest to stimulate their economies, solve societal problems and create jobs. GE's broad portfolio and expertise position us as a natural partner,.." - GE Chief Executive Jeff Immelt...
So FACT is there aiding in increasing our government's spending and total debt, which is already now at an unsustainable level, more than our GDP. Yeah ther's no conspiracy here. Government IS THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION!
End keynesian economics and fractional reserve banking NOW!!!
Funny that you're ranting about a program that will help clean the environment, will help to prevent even greater government expansion to deal with the effects of AGW ("adaptation"), & by energy independence help to prevent wars.
Yet here you are trying to defend the plutocrats that are turning the USA into a banana republic while violating people's rights with their pollution. You're just another "useful idiot" to them but your arrogance & ignorance keep you from realizing it.
"....that this is a GE project and that for some bizarre reason you think that they don't want to sell you power.."
I NEVER said they did'nt want to sell me power, I'm saying that a smart grid requires control boxes and new hardware everywhere, like in your house, this isGonna cost a f@#$ing metric s@#$ ton, there are already feasable alternatives, that are much less intrusive on our right to contorl our own power supply.
"The deployment of smart meters in Ontario homes..."-article
Do you think that G.E. doesn't want to sell you power? They already track how much you use, it's how you get your bill each month and rates already vary by the time of day.
All it means is that power gets to you more efficiently and reliably. Also you can schedule some of your power use to automatically get cheaper rates at off peak times.
This IS NOT needed it's actually redundant, like many things these days, so the idea is to let another layer of computer oversight/control for the current... This is a waste of time, energy, AND resources.
"...gets to you more efficiently and reliably..." Note how you dont clarify this... Why are'nt you changing the wires to silver that would increase efficiency... All the info on this GE power grabing shows that's it's a way to Further gauge and resist our energy flow.
As to efficiency, the grid better compensates for changes in load/demand to making it easier to switch use to off-peak hours, to additional sources like PEVs being able to help compensate for peaks, & routing of renewable sources as conditions change (a big reason for the change).
As to using silver, that's not needed with changes in distribution tech. Not to mention S. Korea is starting to use "high temperature" superconductors.
Another misconception you seem to have is that this a "GE power grabing" thing.
First of all this is *not* a GE thing. The vid just shows their commercials.
This is something that is being promoted by every major utility & major government around the world since it lets countries around the world better manage the flow of electricity & better integrates renewables that can fluctuate. For ex. if wind dies in one area, the grid can compensate where they still have wind.
The loss of efficiency in the current grid isn't just down to the materials used to conduct the electricity, it's also about how the power is being transferred from point A to point B, whether it needs to get there at that moment at all (or is it too much/too little) and what happens when it gets there. If more power than is needed gets delivered, what do you think happens to it?
The smart grid is an attempt to address these issues, and more.
"changes in load/demand...If more power than is needed gets delivered, what do you think happens to it?...it lets countries around the world better manage the flow of electricity & better integrates renewables that can fluctuate."
SEARCH---> FLYWHEEL ENERGY STORAGE , use giant ones of these if those are your only concerns GE troll.
Your methodologies and "know how" are pathetic attempts easily seen through by those of us with knowledge[AKA true power]. GE=NEEDLESS CONTROL
That's funny considering you're the one that started trolling this thread from your first post. All you've had to offer up so far have been some vague paranoia, which you have yet to explain, that for some reason GE doesn't want to sell you their electricity in spite of this not being a GE project. I've been polite & tried to address your concerns but you descend to baseless name-calling rather than addressing any of the points.
Yeah it is funny how you UNQUESTIONINGLY support whatever expensive s@#$ that is proposed, clearly you're some kind of a stupid ass, not only for this reason but also because you did'nt SEARCH the term that would've provided you some kind of insight in relation to load leveling.[FLYWHEEL ENERGY STORAGE]
"I've been polite & tried to address your concerns but you descend to baseless name-calling rather than addressing any of the points."
Yawn... more juvenile antics from someone that apparently is too stupid to realize that just because GE's commercials were shown doesn't make the smart grid a GE project.
In fact based on you comments here, it doesn't seem that you've bothered to get even a basic understanding of what the smart grid is or why it offers benefits over the current outdated system.
It's kind of funny that you've yet to make a single logical argument, or make a logical point, but it gets old fast.
Call up GE and pledge your undying devotion to their crony capitalism and power grabbing.
Hegelian Dialectic spawn. Stick to the freaking point, clearly you cant, because the ONLY thing that comes to mind when faced with my arguments, is "Oh He Must Be Crazy!" Since when have the powers that be ever been right? Drink your flouride water and get s'more H1N1 vaccinations... You need more Thimerosol in your blood stream.
As for flywheels aside from the risks involved, to you really think that it's practical to build them everywhere instead of more efficiently deliver power when and where it's needed. There are reasons why flywheels aren't that common for the storage of such large ammounts of power.
I've noticed that you still haven't addressed what your paranoia is about, nor the cost saving of automatically buying off peak power.
I don't know if you're just another pathetic troll desperate for attention that your parents never gave you, or are really just that stupid/paranoid, & I don't care.
It's enough that anyone that comes here can easily see how foolish your earlier comments are by looking at your failures to address the issue.
As to flywheels you have revealed that you not only didn't read what I said, but that you don't know how hybrids actually work. Hint, some motors can double as generators.
"As to flywheels you have revealed that you not only didn't read what I said, but that you don't know how hybrids actually work. Hint, some motors can double as generators."
YOU MISSED THE POINT ENTIRELY! This is about energy storage, not production. I do know how they f@#$ing work, there are systems within them that store energy through the "regenerative brake", and release it during the acceleration through the engine... How old are you?
No actually you are the one that missed the point, and you're poor at making one of your own.
1st if you deliver the power more efficiently you don't need to store it in the first place.
2nd the same tech need to control and manage such a power storage system for entire communities is the same tech needed for the smart grid that you are opposed to! Such an astounding inability to grasp the obvious on your part.
3rd you still aren't solving issue of initial generation.
You still got the regenerative brake wrong too, how funny with you blatant arrogance that you don't realise your own obvious ignorance on the subjects involved, you're apparently a text-book example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Regenerative braking works by turning the cars motion into electric which is stored in the batteries and is then released through the electric motors, not the "engine". Considering the laughable immaturity in your comments it's funny you asking me my age
"I don't know if you're just another pathetic troll desperate for attention that your parents never gave you, or are really just that stupid/[nieve], & I don't care."
I could make the same thought... It's funny that this smart grid crap is a federal decree, considering their close ties to GE lobbyists and the push for total control of CO2 emmission in the US[where we get most of our power.]
Still looking for the big bad GE bogeymen there eh?
Too bad for you that CO2 regulation is based on sound science, and not GE's wishes. Although based on your earlier posts I don't expect you to recognize valid science if it bit you on the rear.
"Still looking for the big bad GE bogeymen there eh?
Too bad for you that CO2 regulation is based on sound science."

GE is the largest weapons manufacture and one of the largest medical equipment providers. You get the big picture? BUT NOOOooooo!!! It's F@#$ING MANBEAR PIG!!!!
Which is relevant to over a century's worth of sound science behind the effects of CO2 on global warming, how exactly?
Which is relevant to every major scientific institution internationally, and the overwhelming international consensus of climate experts agreeing that the Earth is warming and that green house gas emissions by human activity, how exactly?
Plus it's still not just a GE project, why do you have such a hard time understanding that?
"....overwhelming international consensus of climate experts...."
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! ----> watch?v=FfHW7KR33IQ
"Al Gore sued by over 30.000 Scientists for Global Warming fraud / John Coleman"
A Smithsonian PROFESSSOR has studied this and came to the conclussion that increaed CO2 concentrations and Temps would lead to increased world wide humidity, and thus increased forest/plant growth, Yes You are part of a cult! CO2 is only .083% of the atmosphere, I'm sure you loose sleep...
Ever wonder why the suit never went any where, or why most of the "scientists" aren't even scientists?
Ever wonder why out of the thousands of published scientific papers in climate why all of them have ether supported AGW, or (a very small minority) were neutral on it?
Care to cite a single major scientific institution that deals with climate that opposes the climate consensus?
"I've noticed that you still haven't addressed what your paranoia is about, nor the cost saving of automatically buying off peak power."
You say paranoia I say awareness... "...buying off peak power"... AGAIN flywheel energy storage... They can store energy and release it, it's like a physical battery in the form of a electric motor/electric generator in one.
It's paranoia when you are acting hysterically over an improvement in efficiency that will more than pay for itself from improvements in energy efficiency in the long run, and more renewables.
We know you love flywheels, you still seem to not be considering just how many of them would be needed to produce the same results, & we'd still need to upgrade the grid to handle them. Rather than doing more with less, you want to justify continued waste and pollution.
No NEED to redo an entire grid, when the technology to address your concerns exists[and were BROKE!!!], if they use em for hospitals, I think they can make bigg one's to redistribute energy for the grid, as per your concern...
Aside from you paranoid insistence that this is a GE project and that for some bizarre reason you think that they don't want to sell you power. It may have also occurred to you that hospitals have small power demands than an entire city.
You are right about one thing the technology already exists, that's what they are doing to upgrade the outdated tech in the current grid.
Now do you plan on making a more substantive point, or are you going to engage in more name-calling?
"....that this is a GE project and that for some bizarre reason you think that they don't want to sell you power.."
I NEVER said they did'nt want to sell me power, I'm saying that a smart grid requires control boxes and new hardware everywhere, like in your house, this isGonna cost a f@#$ing metric s@#$ ton, there are already feasable alternatives, that are much less intrusive on our right to contorl our own power supply.
"The deployment of smart meters in Ontario homes..."-article
As has already been pointed out the upgrade is a net cost savings in the long run, while your option doesn't consider the costs and scale. Why do you think that so many other countries around the world have already been upgrading their grids, realize that your flywheel pipe-dream isn't practical on the scale needed & doesn't address generation?
Unless you can actually make a valid point, I don't see a reason to keep replying since you keep bringing up the same refuted points.
"while your option doesn't consider the costs and scale. "
Sure it does, it's easier to build a big one in every city, than complicated redundant computer control systems in every house. GE is in fact power grabbing, while Obama forces closures of US coal plants, what does GE do? They build them in Mexico, they did'nt resist this push from the white house in the least while they simulteneously shiped US jobs over the boarder, just to cause artificial scaricity... [ECO-FASCISM]
Oh yes on big gaint fly wheeel for an entier city! LOL!
So pray tell us oh Dunning-Krugerite how are you going to plan to control the power monitoring and distribution? You'd need some way to improve the power grids ability to monitor and regulate power use and distribution.
You might even call such a power grid as "smart".....hmmm.
It's hysterical that in your earlier post that you're ranting about "Thimerosol" [sic], yet you then turn around to defend coal plants. Too funny!
"...how are you going to plan to control the power monitoring and distribution?"
hello... theres these things called power stations that are every couple of miles that step down the voltage on the grid already, perhaps that would be a good place to put a load evening system like a car sized flywheel energy storage system, AGW is a control scam, and a cult.[period]
And how are they going toi monitor the power demand and distribution fast enough to prevent waste in the first place. Sounds like a pretty "smart" power grid to me.
If you want to use flywheels to "level" the power grid you'll not only have the cost of adding them, but the power lag for increases in demand will cause more brownouts and blackouts unless you also increase the responsiveness of the system. You're not good at thinking these things through are you?
HEY GE TROLL, you put something on my house, I'm destroying the CONTROL box and/or the person you send, that is a guarantee from American militia, stop closing down our HARMLESS coal plants while opening them in mexico and go f@#$ yourselves. This globalism is BS meant to weaken our country[and every other country], but I'm sure you support that to. What if everyone was off the grid, what would you f@#$s do then?
You are actually getting more irrational and foam-at-the-mouth-crazy with nearly every post!
You are really that concerned with a electric meter that tells the company when your usage is going up to make sure that you get the power you are using!?! ROFLMAO!
Nice to see that you are still attempted to avoid the point rather than deal with the issues.
Funny how most of the world glaciers and the arctic ice sheet are melting at the same time every thermometer and satellite shows increasing long-term global average temperatures isn't it? I guess all of that ice is in on the conspiracy too.
Considering your lack of scientific knowledge and tendency to crank beliefs, it doesn't surprise me that you also are ignorant of the science behind AGW.
"Funny how most of the world glaciers and the arctic ice sheet are melting at the same time"
NOOooo... It's funny how when your looking at the melting ice of the north, your camp compleately ignores Antarctica, Al gore fairing a helicopter back and forth around the melting glaciers during the SPRING, the picture is always followed by the trademark phrase: “There you have it, the ice is melting, water is going to rise, humanity is going to die”. you ARE A CULT!!!
Still attempting to ignore the issues in your delusion. Lets see, the arctic ice sheet it melting faster than at any point in history.
About 95% of the worlds glaciers are all melting at the same time, & are accelerating.
The the antarctic while sea ice *area* has remained about the same the ice it self has been getting thinner & younger as the older ice is melting away. Funny how you left that part out.

You keep making less sense with each post, why would I buy ocean side property if the seas will rise?
You are the only one ignoring the solar cycles, there has been no change in them that can be connected to the rise in temperature, that's how we know it's not the sun. (watch?v=_Sf_UIQYc20)
You are the one ignoring how CO2 has almost doubled and how science proves that it's a "forcing" agent for the climate.
How is trying to save humanity from a solvable threat "vilifying" it?
"You keep making less sense with each post...blah blah blah I'm an dumb ass tree hugger lalala communism is awesome blah blah blah" - U

Sounds to me like GE could'nt COMPETE so they became on of the too big to fail, implying every other company was too small to succeed... STFU commie f@#$!
LOL! Still more straw-man arguments and false dichotomies.
How is making fossil fuel companies pay for the damage they are doing to the health and property of private individuals "communism"?
If a neighbor was running a business and was dumping his waste in your backyard because it was cheaper, would insisting that he pay for his own waste cleanup be "communism'? That seems to be your position.
Why do you seem to define humanity by it's consumption of fossil fuels?
"How is making fossil fuel companies pay for the damage they are doing to the health and property of private individuals "communism"?" - [retarded cult member]
WHAT DAMAGE? Not only that but why is'nt America being sued by every other world power if were supposedly such a compeatly irresponsible nation of redneck morons? I'll tell you why, because there worse than we are, keep telling me this is a legitimate problem[man bear pig] but I'm super cereal that you are a CULT.
Ignoring the fact only two of the things we've covered so far come remotely even close to your paranoid little list of putting words in others' mouths, you still can't even get the two that are close right.
First of all I've only called you ignorant, because you insists on saying ignorant things. Are you yet going to admit that your earlier comment about the suit against Gore, & other comments on AGW were wrong yet?
The 2nd you got wrong was that the smart grid is about more efficiently redirecting power to where it's needed (you still can't seem to understand that childishly simple concept).
Also renewables are about replacing polluting, wasteful, ultimately going to run out of fuel, sources that send large amounts of cash overseas, with sources that are clean & don't just run out of supplies. Not lowering production.
Care to tell what your solution is to the fact that we've passed peak oil?
It was nice of you to further demonstrate your deep ignorance of the subject by demonstrating that you don't understand the distinction between weather & climate.
Nor to you seem to understand the difference between telling what is happening now versus predicting the future.
You are right about one thing though (first time so far I think) "humans" are not the problem, just some very ignorant people (such as you) being lead by a few very rich & amoral people are the problem.
General Electric is using its media arm, NBC Universal to promote President Barack Obama's so-called progressive agenda for its own financial gain.
GE has been lobbying heavily for a cap-and-trade system, rather than a straight tax systemWhich wouldn’t require a market. And of course they got their wish.GE, aMember of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, which advocates cap and trade leads the push for greenhouse gas restrictions.
You are a willfully ignornat eco-nazi who is beyond the edge.
So as usual rather than acknowledging your mistakes and trying to learn anything your still just ranting and ignoring the scientific evidence.
All you've offered so far has been paranoid rants, and long refuted denialist falsehoods. You've yet to offer any credible evidence that AGW isn't a real threat, everything you've offered so far is easily proven false, so instead you just try to change the subject to your favorite conspiracy theory.
How is paying for some eventually obsolete tech while were in deep debt as a country going to make us more free? We've only been generating electricity for about 100 years and y'all control freaks need to control every little aspect of every little thing YET AGAIN... If you dont see a problem you sure as hell wil make one up. Natural history disprooves your cult's possition on global warming, as it only aids in increasing humidity, something which your camp villifys.
So your proposal is to instead keep paying even more money over the long-run for tech that is already very obsolete?
Just like trying to put up traffic signs and lighted intersections to improve the flow of traffic is being a "control freak".
Your comment about AGW and humidity isn't even coherent, let alone supported by "natural history". Unless by "increasing humidity" you mean sea level rise by several tens of feet in the long run.
Our temporary means of generating energy [burning hydrocarbons] is the ONLY effective means of creating energy quickly at little cost, "green" sources account for only 5%, I thought y'all were supposed to invest all that money in solar stations NOT pensions and bail outs... If you eco-nazis had any balls at all you would propose turning Yellowstone into the world's biggest geothermal power station, but no. we "have to" just keep trusting you lying moronic manipulative sociopaths.
As usual still wrong, renewables only account for about 5% because the USA had made the mistake of listening to fossil fuel industry representatives, and to irrational ignoramuses such as you seem to be.
Much of Europe already gets about 20% from renewables and Scotland is on track to be getting 80% from renewables by 2020. Funny how Scotland can do that but the USA "can't" isn't it?
About bail-outs, you mean for the financial crisis brought about mostly by the polices of Republicans and most other so-called "free-market" advocates, that strangely only seem to encourage policies that only benefit the wealthiest?
Actually there have been plans to try and use geothermal power to add to the USA's renewable profile, I'm not surprised that you are ignorant of that as well as everything else you seem to pontificate on.
"You've yet to offer any credible evidence that AGW isn't a real threat"
Planets in our solar system showed the same corresponding shifts in temperature as the Earth went through. Warmth is good, as rain forests ALWAYS trump ice covered waste lands, that's what the geologic record says, not your cult leaders, once the Earth agrees with you I will support this hypothesis but, IT DOES'NT!
I earlier pointed out that you just parrot whatever long discredited lies that happens to fit your dogma, without spending ANY effort in thought to determine it's truth, & here you are doing it again!
Actually no they don't. Some bodies have warmed other cooled, for different reasons & not in sync with the Earth. Sorry but the Sun still doesn't fit.
"I earlier pointed out that you just parrot whatever long discredited lies that happens to fit your dogma, without spending ANY effort in thought to determine it's truth, & here you are doing it again!"-U
Just like you and this AGW fetish of your's, compleatly ignoring natural history, typical leftist spew, if you think your discouraging me you are dead wrong I love talking to asshole pieces of shit like yourself, the more tiome you waste on me the less your BS message will get out.
As usual (if you're not just trolling for attention) you still can't admit that you can't get anything right since you don't ever question whatever lies the fossil fuel companies & their paid stooges make up.
30K scientists suing Gore? Lie.
Solar Cycles? Lie.
All of the other planets warming? Lie.
That warming would be a good thing? Sure if you ignore the massive flooding of rivers and coasts, decline of agriculture, etc.
Since you've been so entertaining, I'm going to help you other with making an argument against AGW.
Just go over to the Skeptical Science website and look at their "Arguments" page.
There you'll find a list of your side's arguments that have already been discredited with links to research that shows why the denialist argument is wrong.
skepticalscience(dot)com/argument(dot)php
Look it over & if you think you have something new, please get back us with it.
"GE has to forfeit the $22.5 million it made from the contracts and gets a million-dollar fine on top, the Associated Press reports. Big whoop. That’s not much disincentive to the same thing all over again. That’s like stealing a $1,000 computer, getting caught, and then having toGive back the computer and pay the court a measly $40 fine.
And let’s point out that GE was doing business with Saddam Hussein’s regime. This stuff went on from 2000 to 2003 and involved the UN’s oil-for-food program."
And the companies that you've been defending haven't been doing even worse?
How amusingly naive.
You still seem to be ignoring that the smart grid has nothing to do with GE per se, but with all of the electric companies, power producers, and governments. Of course if you acknowledge that, then you don't really have anything left since everything else you've come up with is easily shown to be a lie with just a few seconds of research.
"...Oh gee, what a co-incidence that General Electric IS currently INVESTING heavily in a 'GREEN AMERICA', and stands to make BILLIONS in a SOCIALIZED health care system that the Democrat Party Socialist Congress are ALSO attempting to MANDATE upon ALL of America..
Another co-onicidence, the General Electric company ALSO recieved OVER 100 BILLION DOLLARS of TAX-PAYER bail-out money from the Obama administration..."
I'm sure you love "copypasta" since it spares you from thinking, whether trolling or just a kook. So you continue to try & change the subject since you're loosing on this one.
Meanwhile your precious coal & oil industry causes about 20K deaths/year in the USA from pollution alone while the repubs are working hard to increase that number.
tinyurl(dot)com/yfpv2kq
Coal costs the US taxpayer ~500 billion/year in hidden costs
Yet another thing you got wrong in your conspiracy rant is that reducing pollution isn't about "artificial scaricity" [sic], it's about holding polluters accountable for more of the hidden costs of their pollution, to remove the hidden subsidy they have been profiting from at your and my expense.
Damaged health and the environment has costs to society you know, we pay for that. The rich, that run fossil fuel plants (especially coal) don't pay those costs, the public does.

"...gets to you more efficiently and reliably..." Note how you dont clarify this... Why are'nt you changing the wires to silver that would increase efficiency... All the info on this GE power grabing shows that's it's a way to Further gauge and resist our energy flow.
WoodlandRavah 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah
Actually you've yet to clarify your fears.
Korea is starting to use "high temperature" superconductors.
mirt001 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah
For ex. if wind dies in one area, the grid can compensate where they still have wind.
mirt001 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah
One other quick point for now.

"GE troll"?
That's funny considering you're the one that started trolling this thread from your first post. All you've had to offer up so far have been some vague paranoia, which you have yet to explain, that for some reason GE doesn't want to sell you their electricity in spite of this not being a GE project. I've been polite & tried to address your concerns but you descend to baseless name-calling rather than addressing any of the points.

In fact based on you comments here, it doesn't seem that you've bothered to get even a basic understanding of what the smart grid is or why it offers benefits over the current outdated system.
It's kind of funny that you've yet to make a single logical argument, or make a logical point, but it gets old fast.

WoodlandRavah 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah
3rd you still aren't solving issue of initial generation.
mirt001 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah

WoodlandRavah 1 year ago

It's paranoia when you are acting hysterically over an improvement in efficiency that will more than pay for itself from improvements in energy efficiency in the long run, and more renewables.
We know you love flywheels, you still seem to not be considering just how many of them would be needed to produce the same results, & we'd still need to upgrade the grid to handle them. Rather than doing more with less, you want to justify continued waste and pollution.
mirt001 1 year ago

GE is in fact power grabbing, while Obama forces closures of US coal plants, what does GE do? They build them in Mexico, they did'nt resist this push from the white house in the least while they simulteneously shiped US jobs over the boarder, just to cause artificial scaricity...
Too funny!
mirt001 1 year ago
@mirt001
WoodlandRavah 1 year ago
@WoodlandRavah

The 2nd you got wrong was that the smart grid is about more efficiently redirecting power to where it's needed (you still can't seem to understand that childishly simple concept).
Also renewables are about replacing polluting, wasteful, ultimately going to run out of fuel, sources that send large amounts of cash overseas, with sources that are clean & don't just run out of supplies. Not lowering production.
