  • Obama you suck!

  • Obama sucks

  • racist comments are made by uneducated people

  • hahaha

    wow the propaganda.

  • obama is too smart, hes shutting these republicans down single handedly

  • @lyles2300 obama is admittedly shutting the gop down. he basically ignores their issues by calling them talking points or saying" i'll get back to you", etc. he is like nero fiddling for 2 years on health care at a time when america has a real unemployment rate of 17%. the next 2 elections will be a referendum on whether he should be shutting down legitimate and honest debate while engaging in staged photo ops to try to sell a program that will contribute to even greater job loss in coming years

  • Obama, we're not buying your nonsense...go away....!!**

  • Just say NO to Obama's "Mussolini Care".

  • PHILISOPHICAL.......

  • Don't people have a government for a freaking reason? it's kinda tough for people to organize their own health care without some sort of voting system to elect a team of people to make the decisions. Have we learned nothing from the greeks????

  • wow

  • I love the way Obama calls out that republican for using talking points before he answers the question. Awesome!

  • @PirateKing86: was that right before Obama started reading his teleprompter for his talking points?? what an idiot he is

  • @ConservativeRuleinUS: Obama's stupid because he uses a tool that every other politician uses? I agree! That's outrageous!

  • @PirateKing86: Obama will be blamed for his party's losses in November.....he is an ass clown

  • waffle

  • man i hate how everyone thinks that they understand this shit, its bull and that all it will ever be, i got a reply saying im trying to keep the poor poor, and the rich rich, and no i'm not, but those who freeload off the money that i earn every damn day should be cut from this, if they work, or worked hard in their life than i'll help em but if someone just doesnt wanna work than fuck them, and its MY money, its not greed but equal, fairtax all the way!

  • in the context of "the moral argument," those who take the moral high ground forget that they are representing only one party. govt action must always involve one group of people taking from another. that is not moral.

  • more importantly, those self-righteous Statists who would steal from you in the name of a moral obligation don't realize that inefficient administration of health care is bad for EVERYONE.

govt alone has made health care more expensive, why let them continue by expanding? that would not be moral.

  • Hello! You don't fix the Health Care situation by ignoring the bloated costs and spending of Obama's bill!

    Taxes start in Year 0

    Benefits start in Year 6

So, the benefits for 4 years are paid for by taxes from 10 years. That means that taxes only cover 40% of the benefits. So starting in year 11, we will have 60% of the unfunded benefits that will have to be paid by massive NEW TAXES and HIGHER BORROWING. That means this trillion plus bill will triple or quadruple in price after 10 years!

  • I'm talking about people being forced to pay for stuff they don't want.

  • Like higher HC bills which we have now.

Like the cost of HC, which once was 5% of our GDP, about to reach 20% of our GDP soon?

That right now I have to go to the Dr.. my Health Ins. Co. TELLS ME to go to.

That you & I already pay higher HC cost bcuz ppl who dont have Ins cant pay so the cost is passed on to us.

That ppl who DONT have H.I. and then get in an accident & cant pay the 6 figure bill file bankruptycy so the cost is passed to us.

What a great system we have.

  • Well you proved my point. Why is health care the only industry in which this happens? Only in health care are consumers so disconnected from costs. Gov't control drives up costs. Whether or we not we think it's worth the cost is one thing, but you can't deny it drives up costs. Gov't doesn't tell me what type of home or car insurance I have to have. Those industries are functioning fine.

  • We're forced to buy Car Insurance if we have a car. And Homeowners insurance if we are buying a house.

But like you say, theyre fine.

  • most workers don't even consider starting a business because they wouldn't have the slightest idea where to start. not because they don't have skills or ideas but because the hoops that we have to jump throughmake it too difficult for most people. many people envy the rich in big houses, but that envy is what keeps them from adding on or remodeling due to regulatory costs and yearly taxes in their own house or why those who receive benefits will never own a house or end up lose the benefits.

  • it is very short sighted to think that great things, or even basic security, comes from government control without considering how much it costs everyone, not just the rich. if someone believes that big business is bad, they should be much more concerned about big government with taxing, policing, regulatory, and lawmaking powers to go along with the multi billion dollar contracts that blow hard politicians dole out to favored corporations owned by their friends, family and favored lobbyists.

  • Why Democrats beat Republicans: Would any Republican hold a publicly aired 'debate' with lawmakers over such a thing? Hell No. You think Bush or McCain would hold such an event? Hell No.

  • I trust anyone who fights for the freedom and liberties of the American people to live a productive and quality life without the stress of thinking that the hard labored earnings you have earned throughout the years could be taken away at a whim because of a slip and fall.

You GOP bottom feeders need to realize business 101. It takes start up capital to invest in a business. So quit causing mass confusion with your histeria when you complain that the benefits kick in after 6 years. Dumbasses

  • joburnum, if you are concerned about the stress of thinking that hard labored earnings could be taken away at a whim because of a slip and fall, why aren't you concerned about blow hard politicians who take away hard earned labor on a whim every time you earn a dollar, or concerned about losing everything if someone slips and falls on your sidewalk who is encouraged to sue for everything you have ever owned, or that regulations become so onerous or taxes so high that start ups become impossible?

  • Put the Kool Aid down, ObamaCare Scam means taxes for all Americans, why?

    Taxes start in Year 0

    Benefits start in Year 6

So, the benefits for 4 years are paid for by taxes from 10 years. That means that taxes only cover 40% (4 divided by 10) of the benefits. So starting in year 11, we will have 60% of the unfunded benefits that will have to be paid by massive NEW HIGHER TAXES and HIGHER BORROWIING. Fortunately for Obama, many Americans like you don't do simple arithmetic calculations.

  • Here is the one question you must stop and ask yourself. Do you trust Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid enough to provide for you in this healthcare legistlation with what you need or want? Image Obama or the republicans do not exist would you trust Harry & Nancy to do what is best for you?

  • Haha! Devious Pelosi said today that her fellow democrats should sacrifice themselves for healthcare!

This of course is a "win-win" situation for her. One, the speaker gets the benefit of being the leader of the house when healthcare gets passed, thus increasing her standing within the far-left movement. Two, inevitably some of the moderate democrats who lose their seats over their blatant disregard for the wishes of their constituents are replaced with more radical liberal representatives.

  • If Obama was that terrible person,

I would think our economy would be a little worse.

It's actually gotten a little better, so he can't be all that bad.

But then again, he is the anti-Christ so maybe the wrath is just beginning lol

  • Obama seems like a pretty honest guy to me.

Not this evil, socialist, old people killer that people have come to believe..

  • From the New York The Sun: Obama Facing Attacks From All Sides Over Abortion Record (Infantice Record)

"The group (NRLC) says the documents prove Mr. Obama misrepresented his record."

"His campaign yesterday ACKNOWLEDGED that he had voted against an identical bill in the state Senate,"

In the interview, Obama calls NRLC "Liars". But the next day, during his campaign days, his campaign had to admit Obama lied about his infantice record.

We know what Obama is capable of doing.

  • Capable of what? Lying??

He's a politician. Sometimes they do that.

But then again, maybe the NRLC is lying...

  • I just wish people could quit bitching and just come together on issues. It's not like Obama is out to kill old people and take our money, but people are so ignorant they start to believe things like that. Obama is trying to make this country a better place for all of us and we all have to do our part and work with him on this. How will the government work for us if we don't work with it? It seems as if people are traumatized from the Bush administration and have become negative. It's so sad.

  • Why Americans don't want ObamaCare...

    - Sweat heart deals in the hundred of millions

    - Broken promises of no closed backroom deals

    - Thug union deals exempting them in the tune of $60 billion which the rest of Americans pay for

    - Support from fiscally sane democrats or independents till days ago

    - ENRON style double accounting

    - Bloated TRILLION dollar plus price tag that goes up by TRILLIONS MORE after 10th year

    - Medicare gutted

    - Billions unfunded state mandates we pay in taxes

  • Any way you slice it, ObamaCare is unpopular. People dont like the core of this bill... a big bloated government run health care system that is too expensive and was crafted behind closed doors. The democrats aren't listening to the people at their peril.

  • People have begun to think that it's just a huge gov't spending spree but the majority of people don't even know what's in the bill to begin with. People just lose all hope & focus on all the bad parts of the bill & exaggerate them so even more people get discouraged. Obama is trying to be bi-partisan on this, but Republicans just want to scrap the bill instead of compromising and trying something new. Gov't should work for us, if it isn't, we need to fix it...not abandon it & give up hope.

  • @nickgassaway if this was about a bipartisan bill, obama and the dems would introduce a bill that included all of the points of agreement that he lists in this video. the economy is onml;y getting better if we consider that trillions of dollars borrowed from the next generation used in the economy is the same as private sector money used that doesn't add a penny to our debt. businesses are shedding jobs, not adding them.

  • Well, I think the whole point of this was to get points of agreement from both parties and create a bill out of it...Republicans say that they've come up with ideas that won't add one penny to our debt but that is simply not true. It's impossible to not spend money and fix our healthcare system. We have to spend money to earn money, but Obama is also reinforcing that with bills that will reduce the deficit in the long term. Obama and the dems wouldn't be spending all this money for no reason.

  • @nickgassaway i don't think you have looked at debt projections if you think his approach reduces the deficit in the long run. the private sector has to spend money top make money. when the government does it, it adds nothing since the money has to come from the private sector. government jobs add over 100 thousand debt per job. private sector jobs add no debt. many democrats see profit as a problem. profit is the true growth of a nation with new jobs that result. we are now doing the opposite.

  • Good healthcare is a RIGHT for the citizens in any country. I think it's a crying shame that America lags behind CUBA for good healthcare! The government have a responsibility to keep their workers and people in good health. You shouldn't have to choose between taking a tumour out of your breast of correcting prostate cancer because you couldn't afford it. I live in England, and boy am I glad our govmt is in charge of h/c I go to hospital or docs NO CHARGE.

  • You're either stupid or on some sort of disorienting drug.

We have the most advanced medical centers in the world and the leader in medical technology.

What makes health care a right? Can you protect your right to free health care? No. Can a bureaucratic health care system be repealed? Yes. How is it a right again? Because you think you're entitled to fuck up your body as you please and give the bill to the gov't?

  • 'We have the most advanced medical centers in the world and the leader in medical technology.'

I probably agree with you there. But what good does all of that do when those with low income cannot afford it? What then?

  • Why look towards the government for an answer to a problem they created?

When has the government ever fixed anything? Did you know that health insurance for a modern family was 3k a year before W passed the modernization of medicare? It's the governments fault it's so expensive, now you're looking for the government to create another bureaucracy that takes away our rights to our own fucking bodies.

  • @Coraxuss You have understood EVERYTHING !

  • that pretended validation is hilarious. i look at obama as a comedian, but mostly a liar. thats all he does lie lie lie. i'm trying to figure out what anyone in washington knows about health care... or running a profitable organization, because right now they are up to their eyeballs in debt.

  • i was exaggerating i hav rely no idea im only 14 not tht into politics just know i hate obama not becuz hes black so dont call me racist its cuz hes a democrat and i hate democrats but wat i do know is i was watching the news and they were interviewing the pepl tht voted and asked thm who they voted for and why wen they answered obama they said the reason is cuz he is black they gave a percent and it was fairly large

  • @dorriancoats i can't read what you say when you don't use correct grammar.

  • You hate Democrats? How bi-partisan of you.

I'm only 17 and I couldn't vote for Obama, but if I had, I wouldn't have voted for him just because he's black. Just because a handful of people out of the 300 million in this country voted for Obama for that reason doesn't mean the majority of people think that way. You can't always base your opinions and views on polls and interviews. I'm sure there are plenty of old people that voted for McCain because he was old too. It works both ways...

  • Give me Liberty or give me death!

  • I think it's cool that the American people are waking up to the fact that Obama is making unemployment worse and that they understand that ObamaCare is one huge, expensive, government take over of the economy which will make things horrifically worse for all. Those who vote for ObamaCare will be unemployed in November.......... but Obama doesn't care, its all about him.

  • whether this all goes through or not, i think it's kind of cool that Obama is at least making an effort to appear bipartisan. From my memory (8 years of Clinton, and 8 years of Bush) I really haven't seen a president take the measures that he is taking. I think it's kind of cool

  • totally agree. I keep reading people saying like ' just push it through, your so weak! '. Really, just stepping back, the effort he is making it quite astonishing given the pressures to concede and push it through.

  • Dems have the Super majority! Even they know this bill is Bull&*%$. They could have passed it months ago, but the Dems need a scapegoat. When Americans wake up and find out how bad this bill is the Dems need someone to blame. ....Or maybe they'll just blame Bush!

  • can cann I I I caan it's itts' itts uh uhh uhh itts' cana, I I IIII I think so ssso soso itt'ss uhh itss a uh uhhh uh, of course government will screw it up.

Where is the TelePrompTer when you need it?

  • Bravo!!!

  • Obama Healthcare why Americans don't want it....

    - Sweat heart deals in the hundred of millions

    - Broken promises of no closed backroom deals

    - Thug union deals exempting them in the tune of $60 billion which the rest of Americans pay for

    - No bipartisan support or support form fiscal democrats or independents

    - ENRON like double accounting

    - Bloated TRILLION dollar plus price tag that goes up by trillions after the 10th year

    - Medicare gutted

    - Unfunded mandates to states

    Nov 2010!

  • With the 23 Trillion this guy and Geitner stole

people would have been able to afford it and docs would have got paid.

Nobody takes this crap seriously anymore

    resign now, thief.

  • I dont like you obama. I need a job and I cant get one.....

  • @molepeoplez ....then blame the Republicans since the recession which axed your job prospects came mostly from their economic philosophy, that and moderate Democrats following their lead like lemmings.

  • LOL.... Obama's polls drop significantly after the healthcare summit.

November 2010 is fast approaching! If Congress doesn't want to be unemployed they better vote against Obama, Pelosi, and Reid's trillion dollar plus healthcare monstrosity.

  • then we can get caribou barbie in office... o joy!

  • Obama would never have done such a summit in the early part of his presidency, but he should have. Now, everyone that is not self deluded knows that he had to do this in a desperate attempt to salvage a healthcare whose price tag is out of control. Obama's political capital is wasted and has put his own democrats allies in a tragically vulnerable position come November 2010. Those who vote for the trillion plus healthcare in a time of 10% unemployment will pay for it with their jobs, period.

  • LOL.... it was your financially sane DEMOCRATS that said no to Obama's, Pelosi, and Reid's trillion plus dollar monstrosity of healthcare that will become trillions more after a decade because of the ENRON like accounting they are doing.

Again, it was your own DEMOCRATS that stopped Obama not the other party. And if Obama shoves this down the throats of the American people in November 2010 the Senate and House DEMOs will join the ranks of the unemployed!!!

  • REPUBLIC!!!!!

  • Obama's and Congress Financial Health Care SCAM:

    Taxes start in Year 0

    Benefits start in Year 6

So, the benefits for 4 years are paid for by taxes from 10 years. That means that taxes only cover 40% (4 divided by 10) of the benefits. So starting in year 11, we will have 60% of the unfunded benefits that will have to be paid by even HIGHER TAXES or HIGHER BORROWIING in the TRILLIONS!. Unfortunately for Obama, most Americans are catching on to Congress corrupt accounting!

  • My bad I mis read your comment I thought you were saying that he needs a teleprompter I was saying imagine how bad a george bush speech will be without a teleprompter. Lol

  • Obama wants Grow the Size and increase the Power of the Federal Government...U ppl are blind and Stupid if You actually think He's concerned about Health and Well Bing...Pathetic!!!

  • You do realize if this goes through, the yearly debt collected will triple, if not quadruple. Pretty soon nobody is going to want to lend us because our dollar is worthless.

  • You do realize thats not true! This is all about money.REP want more money.

All of them are just trying to scare

people into something that is'nt true.

People need to be covered PERIOD!

  • @58fenix you bet we want more money. who doesn't want more money, because money is power. whoever said money isn't the most important thing, truly doesn't understand how this world works. Being covered is not a right. i don't know where so many people get that ridiculous idea. Health coverage is a luxury.

  • Yeah your right money is power. But,

people who are rich only care about them

selfs.I think it's a cool thing were people

who have money give to the poor and not

care about themselfs all the time. And

yeah your right being covered is not a right

    but,thats rich talk.

  • All rich people care about is themselfs all the time.Rich people dont care about being covered because that have money.

Question?Do you care about people who

    arent covered?

  • I do agree, there are a lot of evil greedy fuckers out there that don't care about the little people like us. I agree totally, but I think ALL rich people is a bit of an exaggeration..

  • @58fenix rich people pay almost all taxes and atre by far the greatest contributors to charity. if poor people cared as much about their communities and neighbors as rich people they would study how to get rich instead of bashing them. we live in a nation of free people who usually start out poor and through hard work, perseverence, and an understanding of how to become rich, can move up the ladder. blow hard politicians have destroyed whole communities with your upside down mentality. very sad.

  • I pretty much agree with the first half of your paragraph, but the thing is, many rich people are born into rich families or inherit the money and don't go through the whole "american dream" or "rags to riches" process and those kind of people spend thousands and perhaps millions of dollars on completely ridiculous things and at the same time they say they understand what us poor folk are going through. They have no idea what it's like to struggle in life. Some do, but they are a minority.

  • @nickgassaway we all have our own struggles. if the worst struggle we have is to be a little better today than we were yesterday, i will take tyhat struggle every day of my life. too often government help is unnecessary. it eliminates those early small successes that encourage people to the next step. instead it traps them. they would lose too much to start from the bottom. i feel more sorry for a rich kid given everything who develops no backbone than a hard working scrapper who lifts himself.

  • Well then gov't help means we won't have as many poor people. the country might be a better place if the money "trickled down" like Reaganomics said it would. Without gov't help, there would be no food stamps & people would be on their own. That's the whole idea behind capitalism. "Pull yourself up from your bootstraps." We need gov't there in case you stumble in life. I think Gov't is a good thing if it is done the right way. I'm just saying we need to fix it so it works like it should.

  • @nickgassaway most would agree with your point that government has a role in helping people. there is a legitimate question dismissed as talking points in this video regarding the philosophical question of how much government should do to help and how much government does that is hurtful. when there are profits, they do trickle down through new business start ups, more investment in new ideas by people using their own money efficiently. we are seeing jobs disappear in this trickle up economy.

  • I agree, we are losing jobs. That is definitely the main thing we need. My dad lost his job of 20 years at a steel casting plant that was outsourced to Norway back in 2006. We need to invest in alternative energy and start creating more jobs in that field. The US has all the necessary resources to be a leader in alternative energy. Whether global warming is real or not, we need to invest in that technology and clean up the country and eventually the world. Obama has already started work on that

  • There are many celebrities like Bono or Michael Jackson who have contributed to charity, and that is a great thing. It's just not right when a company goes under for fraud and the majority of the employees lose their jobs and have to get food stamps while the top few executives and CEO's walk away with huge sums of cash and go on a getaway to Cabo when that money could have originally gone towards helping the economy or charity. Not to mention that a lot of rich people cheat on their taxes..

  • @nickgassaway you spend way too much time worrying about other people's lives. sometimes people win lotteries too. for most people, the path to success is the same. it comes from within. it is one thing to watch other people to learn how they have succeeded in life. it is another to complain if someone got lucky, usually we all have ups and downs. if we are worried about our own business we can usually handle the downs and take advantage of the ups. but, a successful life is not all about money.

  • in general, by far, things balance out over the years. if we apply basic principles time after time, success will follow little by little, often becoming very big success. if we keep following the same foolish path, we end up in the same rut, going nowhere. that is how most in a free nation succeed beyond their wildest dreams. when we try to redistribute that success without accounting for differences in lifestyle, it hurts us individually and as a nation. stereotypes about rich hurt us all.

  • I agree it isn't all about money, but apparently it is with Republicans...at least a lot of them. The thing they always worry about is taxes. Taxes, taxes, taxes. They are always worried about their money and they don't want the government touching it. Many of them don't want to do their part. When one gets too much money, they can get greedy and hunger for more. It's just human nature.

  • @nickgassaway they are worried that hard work and success is punished when government feels they have a right to take from citizens for no other reason than they are successful. they worry that businesses will be punished and have a lifetime of work taken from them by a government that doesn't understand business as happened in cuba where shortage is everywhere based on an underlying belief that there should be no rich people. it is human nature to give, not to accept others taking from them.

  • less than 10% in this administration have ever run a business. there is very little understanding of why business is afraid to hire right now even though business retreat is largely what is driving huge unemployment and adding costs to government at the same time less revenue is going into the treasury. it is not enough to blame the rich or business without understanding that it is those groups who literally know how the world works. it is like cutting off one's nose to spite their own face.

  • Not all these mess up republicans who

want to make more money just because.

And dont care about anyone.Lets give

and help others who cant make it.Were's

    your american standards at.

  • I don't believe its punishment at all. I just think it's paying your fair share to have all of the luxuries that our country offers. and I'm sure there is plenty of understanding in the administration of how it works. I don't think they'd be there if they didn't know how it worked. Obama was a community organizer and helped out with the poor and unfortunate. I'm sure he understands.

  • Making $300,000 a year and being forced to pay a little bit more for taxes is much less punishment than it is to make $25,000 a year and watch the wealthy complain they can't afford a third Lexus.

  • Yeah I know it's ridiculous! The more money you make the more you want!

  • Dude That does'nt mean not to help.LOL!

Just because someone is'nt rich and they

dont study how to be rich. There pretty

a bunch of crap.Dude some people dont

make it and cant!Lets get rich and be able

to help people who cant get rich!Thats the

    american dream.

  • @58fenix it is funny how the same basic way of living that people try to pass on to their own kids is so often derided as greed or lack of compassion or crap. the greatest gift a parent passes on to a child is to be self reliant, to save. to be productive. to plan ahead. few parents keep supporting their grown children year after year without regard to whether that grown child is doing what is necessary to change their situation. they would never take from one child to give to the other.

  • unfortunately, blow hard politicians create their whole career on that kind of mentality. if someone is receiving section 8 housing, food stamps, welfare payments, utility subsidies, etc. it becomes almost impossible to start from the bottom rungs. all of these are taken from one citizen to give to another, often without regard to why a person is receiving benefits. the results are no different than if someone is purposely rewarding poor habits and punishing good habits. it can be hurtful.

  • Your not hurting someone if you got money.Mad Money! For an example A person that makes 10 million a year

will get taxed 38 under clinton's standards

is'nt bad at all.The problem is they want to do more and more. The more money they make the more you want!

  • Yeah! How dare all those rich capitalists provide jobs, finance the government, and give thousands to charitable organizations. How dare they! They're ruining our society!

  • Rep dont give a thing!If that was true.Then

when bush was in office even though this

dumb prick spent over a billion dollars

on a war that had nothing to do with us.

When he was in office everyone was losing there homes, jobs were being lost

and wall street were having problems.

    So want you just said

  • Were was that when that happened.Oh

now you say it!Look its time to help for real

and give want is needed so everyone has

    a shot.Have you've heard the rich gets

richer and the poor gets poorer?

  • Are you really that stupid? Do you know they already started to fund this, and it won't even be ready until another decade. Do you know how much money we will have to inflate just to stay a float? Enough to crash the dollar.

Do you even know why health insurance is so expensive? It's because of the abuse of medicare and business supplied health insurance.

Health is a choice, not a right.

  • People who want it do not want to understand it. All they see is free. They line up for the slaughter by the Democrats because they have been taught that way. Be happy, the bill is dead though. The GOP fired back and I saw a couple Dems on tv saying its dead, they can't get more than 47 votes now.

  • Want you said did'nt makeanysence

want so ever!Again maybe you did'nt

read want I said.AGAIN everyone should

be covered.bush spent over a billion

dollors on a war that was a lie!And your

worryed about some healh care bill that

will save people's lives!Yes its expensive

but it will help people, just not the rich.

  • Try in the trillions sir, not billions. Obama is continuing the war on terror, and now claims he has the ability to assassinate american citizens that obtrude in the war against terrorism. Time for a cleansing?

If it wasn't for government intervention in health care, let's say we had no S.S. or medicare, health insurance would probably cost 800-1200 per household per year. That's very affordable to anyone who has a job.

  • I dont know were you get your information

at but your wrong.I'm laughin inside

because for one you say obama wants

    to assassinate american citizens.DUDE

    WANT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

  • we are past the time to discuss this issue. the dem approach has been rejected by the voters. they have been given a gift in the early election losses that would allow any reasonable group to reassess their position. they have rejected a bipartisan approach that would pass all the areas of agreement that the president has listed that would take resolve almost all issues.istead, they are stubbornly wasting more time with their failed approach while other pressing issues are ignored. very sad.

  • Are you kidding? The vast majority of Americans support health care reform by all polls, myself included. The only thorns on the rose are the conservatives who are trying to foist proposals designed to fail, presumably because then they can later say, "see health reform can not work in any form". The solution is clear: vote the conservatives out.

  • @Soubriquet right, the reason a republican who signed his name 'brown 41' just won the kennedy seat in massachusetts was because the public is clamoring for the government to take over health care. keep wearing the blinders if you wish, just as these arrogant clueless politicians are attempting to fool themselves as they go over the cliff. most americans understand that business creates jobs. when we have such a hostile business climate, those businesses go into hiding, jobs and wealth disappear

  • Public support for health reform has gone from 62% in 2008 to 57% recently, not a decisive change by any standard. It is supported by the majority. Brown btw just voted with the Democrats and he was just voted in because Mass. already has universal health care and their residents want to make sure federal health reform properly compensates for states that already have a system in place ... it doesnt mean people dont want reform. They just don't want to pay twice for it.

  • @Soubriquet keep believing what you want about how people hate business and want government to take over the economy. i don't really. just recognize that if you honestly want to move health care forward there is a clear roadmap of common endorsement that some in the dem party seem too blind to see. it has wasted a year of this country's time and has largely destroyed the political capital of the dems and this president who had such great potential. very sad indeed. take care, soubriquet.

  • If all you can come up with now are soppy patronizing blurbs, then you have lost the debate. There are very good essays that I have read which show how conservative economic policies are the headwaters for our economic falls of late, yet you argue for a return to a return to it. You can keep your defective road-map since it has led our country over the cliff several times already.

  • I am all for it!! health care for every one!!!

Years ago, welfare system was started by sobert kennedy with good intentions..but where did it end?....so My only hope is that this program is well thought out and planned so there is no potential for abuseor little...(Am I dreaming??????)

  • if you listen to all the points of agreement that the president lists, almost all are accomplished through a free market that has basic consumer protections. we already have examples of community clinics that could be used as models for free or low priced care depending on ability to pay already in existence that could be expanded with no additional regulation. other reforms can be made that would reduce costs by putting the consumer in charge, all endorsed by the so called 'party of no'.

  • @cmpm439 this is not about health care. this is about control over the american people by arrogant, blow hard politicians who want to have as much of the economy go through their hands as possible. if you think big business is bad, big government with lawmaking, taxing, and policing powers that gets to choose which friends and family it wants to have the multi billion dollar contracts is far worse. it's the fundamental purpose for constitutional limits on government expansion, not talking points

  • @cmpm439 big business conducts its business out of public view, accountable to no one, often flouting the law in the processs. At least the government by law provides some sort of public oversight and transparency. I would think it is easier to deal with public incompetence than private malfeasance. Neither is desireable but only the public process provides public oversight in a complex industry.

  • @Soubriquet big business has to compete against other businesses in a free market. a free market is the antithesis of greed. i9f one business is charging too much or offering poor service, another business will come in and take their business from them. the problem with health care is not related to profit or business. when did you last ask how much health services cost or saw costs advertised? our problem is a lack of a free market. it would greatly reduce prices, doctors would make house calls

  • You fool no one cmpm439: as everyone has seen from the string of economic calamities over the last 10 years, the free market only works as advertised with complete transparency to all parties involved, and complex products by definition don't provide that by themselves. Moreover, health care is not a product people want so much as need. There is a slightly different dynamic.

  • @Soubriquet the free market doesn't need transparency because it is not using other people's money. all it needs is a competitive business community that can do basic math. if someone is charging too much and they can offer the same service for less and still make a fair profit, they will enter that business. there is nothing theoretical about how free markets work or questions about transparency. you have to leave that to blow hard politicians who very rarely give a straight answer to anything.

  • yeah, free market doesn't need transparency. we dont have to know how wall street ceo decide to pay themselves. We dont need transparency in know how the banks handle mortgages for home buyers in shady deals. Free market has never failed (enron!)...

  • You make a lot of claims, cmpm439, but don't back it up with anything. I don't see any Republican proposals that would make health care more affordable. Sure, they minimally add consumer protection, but without further intervention such proposals would raise, not lower costs far in excess of any savings from interstate deregulation. Worse, interstate deregulation would force a race to the bottom, and make consumers more vulnerable, not less.

  • @Soubriquet you say you don't see any gop proposals even though the president lists them in this video. are youi so blinded by narrow minded partisanship that you haven't even listened to this video, let alone listening to other points that were made by the gop in this forum? there is a long, long list that you choose to ignore. plus many other valid points that have nothing to do with 'just say no'. if the dems wanted an honest, bipartisan bill, there are many areas of agreement.

  • @cmpm439 Did you even listen to the video? You just demonstrated my conclusion about you. The points of agreement were exactly what I was talking about plus others not in the clip ... those points mentioned were all about consumer protections. Get a clue.

  • your conclusion has been stated as "the gop wants to revert to a barbaric state of existence, the gop is obfuscating the issue with talking points, and the gop is a party of no." if the democrats were truly concerned about health care rather than power, they would embrace a bipartisan bill that incorporates shared ideas rather than going into year two of shoving overbearing central control down all american's throats even though they have good indication they will lose congress in 2010.

  • @cmpm439 Well, the democrats want to overhaul the healthcare system...the republicans dont bring shit to the table, and the very small ideas they do bring arent adequate.

  • obama in this video lists several points of agreement. if this debate was actually meant to move the issue forward, they would start with that long list of resolved issues instead of putting on this pathetic show. talking points means calling the gop 'the party of no", then wasting two years of a failed presidency pushing through 2700 pages of overbearing central government control while 17% of the american people can not find work and businesses hide from this new overbearing central authority.

  • High labor costs and unemployement go hand in hand. Lowering per capita health care costs, and those of other essentials, therefore also address both issues. They are not unrelated.

  • @texytam42 if you listened to the debate, the dem plans do not reduce cost. the main push for dems is to cover more people. there are better ways to do it that would actually cut costs.

  • go obama!

  • @edwardaranda let those resources run out then.. populations will reduce naturally, no need to make a forced attempt, which is really the evil part of any government.

  • I agree though that population is very high, maybe not too high if you really study it but certainly quite high.. I don't know about getting government involved in population control though. If you have goodness in you, certainly you'd understand the implications of such things.

  • the new meaningless term is 'talking point'. it is the new way of saying "lalalala, i'm not listening to you". so the democrats are determined to waste another year on over reaching health care reforms while watching the economy melt down as they spend us into bankruptcy. we thought the gop was bad but this clueless, arrogant group of back room dealing, arrogant blow hard politicians makes the gop look like pikers. it is too late to start over this year on health care. get back to jobs.

  • @cmpm439 "talking point" is a euphemism for "rhetoric" which itself is a euphemism for "sh!t". So it really does have meaning since it aptly describes what was coming out of the distinguished Arizona Republican SEnator's mouth.

  • @Soubriquet rhetoric would indicate empty eloquence. in current terminology, talking point applies to fundamental points that some wish to ignore.

  • @cmpm439 In the case of the Arizona Senator, I would have to conclude his "talking point" resembled "empty eloquence" more than a "fundamental" point since the consumers have not been able to rectify through the existing free market mechanism either affordability of health care or fairness therein. The problems have escalated over several decades of this experiement. The talking point is meaningless since there wouldn't be public agitation for its change otherwise.

  • @Soubriquet there has not been a free market in the health industry in 50 years. it is a market that is almost entirely removed from the consumer. the problems have not escalated. all people in american receive care, the best care in the world. some receive it inefficiently. this bill changes the dynamic so all must conform even though only a small percentage are unhappy. there couldn't ba anything more fundamental in this debate than whether we are able to control our own health care.

  • So? Few people die or are injured from car accidents relative to the number who actually drive, yet we require people by law to wear seat belts and carry insurance. So your point is that we revert to a barbaric state of existence so your treasured "talking point" has a ring of normalcy to it?

  • @Soubriquet yes, that is exactly what those who disagree with a 2700 page takeover of one sixth of the economy are saying. "let's revert to a barbaric state of existence'. sadly, the blinders you wear seem to be shared by the dems who are willing to waste another year at a crucial time in our history repeating your mantra.

  • Unlike some conservative leaders, at least Obama doesn't have to look at crib-notes in his palm to continue talking and making sense.

  • the sharpest tack in the room finally happens to be the president.. who could have predicted it!!

  • @dmiraie i inially thought that obama was a bright guy but he has proven so far to be a clueless and incompetent ideologue too inexperienced and too arrogant to readjust course to deal with the pressing economic issues that are being exacerbated with government takeovers and deficit spending. we are going bankrupt and the free market is being eviscerated while nero and his far left dem sychophants fiddle.

  • with all respect, you can suck your own dick, is it my fault some jackass never worked and i have to pay his taxes and medicle bills, if someone gives a shit about them maybe someone willing will lend the money, but its not my fucking fault

  • gainesvegas... enough with the bullshit argument that "you don't want to pay for someone who doesn't want to work." you know that this is not about lazy people, so your argument is a smoke screen, at best. this is about the young couple in a small town working their asses off and barely scraping by. this is about the insurance companies getting fat off of denying coverage to folks who have been paying their premiums for years. this is about ENDING CORPORATELY SANCTIONED ROBBERY! get a clue...

  • hey you all check out the song you silly doggie by david dubowski its an awesome song

  • Basically there is too much deception and corruption in the Dem's bill. Start over and leave all the bull shit out of the bill.

Have a public option but have it paid for only by those individuals and companies who choose to use it; just like any other insurance provider. Also have the public option pay for its admin costs through its profits and NOT by the taxpayers. Make it pay for itself or keep government the hell out of the health care business!

  • The lack of public option in the bill is due to Republican and conservative Dem opposition to it. Vote the conservatives out of office if you want public option.

  • Nobama is a fuck'n dumb ass shit head, shuv your fuck'n health care fraud up yer fuck'n ass !!!

  • @carlosmurphy4u ...shut up. lol

  • Obama is good at making huge promises and ensuring he is going to keep them. But, a year later he keeps insuring us these promises. I personaly think he will not carry out his promises. He didn't do any planning before he got elected. He's spent the last year planning. I never knew how he was going to give us free healthcare, he just said he would. A year later, I still have no idea how he is going to do that. He promised more than he could handle.

  • @JD4Trojhans Obama has made great progress on his promises, the only problem has been Republican partisanship and foot-dragging. That's why I will no longer split my vote between Demos and Repubs, - to break log jams you have to push the dead wood out of office and get rid of congressional Republicans and keep Obama.

  • Good advise, Lets keep the Marxist in the White House...u are a pathetic as the president.!!!

  • then the balance is ruined and Republicans riot and the US falls. That is the ONLY problem with your statement.

  • U sound like a Brian DEAD Liberal...LOL

  • Facts oppose your opinion. In research cited by several news sources today: "The study found that young adults who said they were "very conservative" had an average adolescent IQ of 95, whereas those who said they were "very liberal" averaged 106." Liberals have higher IQs, generally.
