  • Skating is pretty destructive, at least on a cosmetic level. Wax leaves a dark residue on concrete, painted rails get scuffed all to hell, grinding takes chunks out of corners if you're not careful, and other things along those lines. That's not to say it should be banned. It's just that if you make the area in front of or on someone's property look worse, they have every right to ask you to leave. People that are rude about it are lame, but skaters who are rude about leaving are, too.

  • Seriously! What is with people hating on skateboarders? A rent-a-cop loser was a total bitch to me when I was just minding my own business. That pissed me off so bad that I almost went to rent-a-cop jail.

  • the commercial isnt saying that skateboarders shouldnt be prosecuted for skating in places that are illegal to skate in, its saying that there shouldnt be so many steriotypes. there shouldnt be any "no skating" signs. but all that insurance stuff, that stuff is alright. and the damaging property stuff, thats alright too. tennis is meant for tennis courts, theyre not huting the court. skating is (kinda) meant for streets, were not hurting anything. its bad when people get pissed at uson sidewalks

  • all people that skate certainly do not consider, and are not considered by others as, "athletes". That is a term used for people who play "sports". SKATING IS NOT A FUCKING "SPORT", NIKE, SO FUCK OFFFFF!!!!

  • @shandelear Actually its an extreme sport so technecly its a extrrme sport

  • @shandelear But it really is kinda a fucking sport, shandelear, so FUCK OFF!!

  • go fuck your mother in the mouth you sub-mental waste. Your a jobless, fat fuck. Leave me ALONE.

  • @shandelear You're an extremely angry person, and you're also completely unaware that when you say things like all you've said here, acting from a pure gut-reaction, and without actually thinking about what you say, you're the one that is sub-mental. People wouldn't jump on you for your attitude so much if you just stop acting like that which you claim to hate.

  • @shandelear 'all people that skate certainly do not consider... [themselves] as "athletes"' has got to be one of the thinnest claims I've ever seen. Have you even met a skater in your life? They may not call themselves "athletes" in the strictest sense of the word, but that's more of a non-conformity thing, I think. They see what they do as a sport, without a doubt, and making completely fabricated claims against it is sad.

I hope you're just trolling. This kind of stupid hurts us all.

  • So True

  • everyone should just get along ... board :)

  • lol HOLD YOUR HORSES, MCENROE!

  • this was hilarious the first time i saw it

  • Treat me with respect.

  • no video input, black magic design

  • theese are great even if im against nike being invloved with skateboarding

  • Ok, lets start, to the guy that said this doesnt make sense because its a tennis court and they get kicked out for playing tennis, go to my local skatepark everynight and there will be a cop ready to kick us out as soon as it turns 10(although the lights dont go out till 10 40) now these commercials are clever and all, but skateboarding is not a sport, its an art. to anyone that disagrees you either dont skate or are blind. i can see where they are coming from but were artists, not athletes...

  • @Skatemore1243 Regardless of the expressionalist diversity in skating, it is still a sport, in the same way that surfing and wake boarding are still sports even though you can perform tricks and develop an individual style.

  • @colt777rulz The true beauty of skateboarding, it can be whatever you want it to be, for me it's an art, for you it's whatever, peace man

  • @Skatemore1243 Well that's right and I believe it's an art as well, but the physical aspect of it and the competitive nature of it's history are what make it a sport. That doesn't mean that it isn't an art form as well.

  • RUN ASHLEY RUN!!!

  • hahaha!! i hope nike comes out wit more of these

  • again...don't understand this one. why would it say no tennis at a tennis court? it doesn't say no skating at a skatepark. this and the golf one don't make sense but the running one is perfect.

  • @seel5 It's because skating is prohibited at the best places for it. If you have no skatepark in your town, and theres a nice ass stairset with a buttery handrail nearby, you're gonna skate the best suited place for skateboarding, chances are though, you're getting kicked out.

  • lol black magic design is trying to subliminal message us

  • i hate it if i get another warning from the cops, for streeting in some place, and i walk around the corner.. and some 18 y/o dude is kicking his soccerball against the wall of a random company, ( so realy bothering the people inside the building ) .. and nobody cares.. i hate it.. i dont bother people.. i'm just doing some tricks ..

  • Damn right man, let the skaters do their thing just as the other athlets do. Just as steezbucket said, skaters are equal to each other. If i get out my bed, grab my board and join the other skaters in park everyone greets and everyone talks to each other, there are no outsiders. No matter if they are 10 years old or if they are black, white, yellow whatever. Some skaterhater please tell me that this fact is also right for golf or tennis clubs? There are many outsiders, like black people. Ridiculous

  • sehr geil

  • look like couple of monkeys up there....jack asses

  • your right randon this is hilarious. o my hahahahaha

  • some skaters broke the net at my high school courts! I HATE SKATERS

  • @shotyboy

    I hate winy tennisers

  • @SneakerInTheSnow I dont go out to a stairway, and play tennis there!!!

  • @shotyboy how do you know it was "skaters?" I'm pretty sure some tennis nerds were hanging out on the teps outside my apartment. They had sweaters, they must have been tennis nerds.

  • it would be kind of tight if skateboarding went underground, but only if there was still enough money in it to pay an ok wage.

  • bam does that kickflip at the end. he rode for nike with remy stratton back then

  • Who cares? If you can make money and skate, go right ahead. In the end you still skate for the fun of it.

  • hahahahhahaahahahahahahhahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • skaters have been on the peripheral of society, seen as a funny sub-culture, a lot of prejudice surrounds what they do, big sums of money are made by this activity, to stifle its progression by treating skaters like wayward juveniles is incomprehensible. I'm sure if you're polite and agreeable towards them, they will show you the same respect.

  • yes, skateboarders definitely grind off cars and throw them through your windows. you are absolutely correct

  • go fuck yourself =D

  • @yani23323 FAIL!

  • @aeothegreat Your poorly educated.

  • @aeothegreat Yeah... I've been skateboarding for about nine years (yes, I am an adult now) and this is just a blanket assumption about a huge group of people. I'm a very quiet person, very polite, and I stay out of people's way-- only reacting when I'm presented with a confrontation. You're either young or elderly (or just closed minded); go find some real skateboarders (not little punks) and tell them they're jackasses.

  • fuck you

  • Look faggot we dont need people hatin on us its fuckin idiots like u that should be jumped . you kind make me sick

  • @forceuser13 if that was directed at me, you should realize i was insulting the logic of this aeothegreat person..i'm a skateboarder, go look at my channel lol. i like how my "black people" comment has two thumbs down though! lol

  • @aeothegreat That comment is so ignorant it's funny, you're nothing but a middle age troll, they aren't comparing tennis PLAYERS to SKATEBOARDERS, they are showing the way skateboarders are treated due to stereotypes and comparing that to tennis players. You can really tell just how educated a person is from the dumb shit they say.

  • mustn't be a skatepark. could be that perfect ledge spot everybody is hungry to skate, or else

  • @ThePeyo94 Cops kick you out of skateparks all the time. No helmet no waiver. You have to be a member of the town to skate there. ETC. Skateboarders get no repect almost anywhere except LA cuz anything goes over there.

  • the cops come to a skatepark by my house and kick us out

  • in my town you cant skate at the skatepark cause they were guna tear it down to build something else but never did

if you do the first ticket is $50 second is $250 and 3rd is $500

  • RUN ASHLEY, RUN!

  • The difference here being that it is a tennis court that is made for playing tennis on... I used to skateboard, and I don't have a problem with skating in most places, but this is a poor analogy.

  • well when there is a perfect stair set, or obstacle ment for skating, that almost looked as if it was designed for skateboarding, then skaters skate it. understand now?

  • hes not that cool anyway. Whatever.

  • Awesome commercial they should ut it more times in television.

  • do they actually put it on tv

  • jajajajjaa no way jajaja WTF.

  • lol what sign?

    I love using that one.

  • you kids try too hard to be different, who cares how many people skate. if you like doing it, do it.

  • Comment removed

  • @munkendunkey They're trying to make a point, that a lot of skaters are discriminated against for no good reason, by police, security guards, and quite often just by members of the general public. Sure, some skaters are out to cause trouble, but most are just their to have a good time skating, and yet a lot of people treat them like thugs. They're trying to educate people of the fact that skateboarding is not reckless or excessively dangerous, it is just another sport.

  • @colt777rulz you really think it is for "no good reason"? it's because you are tearing up other people's property, and they have to pay for all the shit you fuck up. i'm not judging, i used to skate back in the day, and got run off by people at a ton of spots. but still, they have a good reason. i thought that was part of the fun of it.

  • @aghostisborn I haven't torn up anybody's property and I haven't fucked up anyone's shit. The most damage any skater would do to property is scratching paint off poles or ledges. Anything beyond this is not skating it is stupidity and vandalism.

  • @aghostisborn you were prolly one of those faggots who sanded the bottom of their board to make it look used. just sayin. cuz if you did skate youd know that a skateboard doesnt really do much damage other than scratch some paint of of a rail, and maybe scuff up the concrete. so..... yea fuck you.

  • @enjoiurskatebord i do know that a skateboard doesn't do much damage other than scratch some paint off of a rail. and even if that's ALL the damage a skateboard could ever do, somebody other than you has to be the one to buy paint and repaint it. look, justify it all you want. and i don't give a fuck what kind of poser you thought i was. i never sanded the bottom of my board, and i never knew anyone who did.

  • @munkendunkey BTW this was made by Nike, not a bunch of kids.. LMAO..

  • k swiss what the fuck are u on about

  • Are you an idiot? Do you not know Lutzka is sponsered by them and theyre making skate shoes?

  • whhaaat- hang on ... oh shit, why would he do that?!

soz i didnt realise, but i dont want skateboarding to die down

  • and nike has been in skateboarding for a long time anyway

  • SB has been doing their thing since a very, very long time ago.

  • ok good luck with that dream, cause millions of new skaters a day and hundreds of major comps this sport is definitely gonna die down

  • /skateforgotten - SUBSCRIBE

  • nonsense. i never treat skateboarders like that. tennis and skateboard is two different things, although they are sports.

  • youre supposed to visualize it as a skate spot that is private property,

thats why the no tennis signs were there.

  • Honestly this commercial doesn't make sense.... Tennis courts are made to play tennis, the same with skate parks made to go skate! I'm a skater myself and have no problem being kicked out.... if there is a no skateboarding sign then obviously no skateboarding! It only sucks when people call the police when your just skating at a normal park or something like that, some places just don't have local skate parks!

  • @corpJJ the problem is that skateboarding isnt meant to be done in a park, its meant to be done wherever the skater wants to preform their trick.

  • @ndrach1 ive been to some amazing parks that make replicas of local spots.. it's like skating the same thing. so i think they are meant to be done anywhere.

  • I have skateboarded for 6 years. And I'm in the military fighting and put my life on the line daily for my country. And when I'm here the states, I STILL get stopped by cops and regular people while I'm skating and get yelled at and told to show some respect for someone other than myself and to make something of my life. Fuck that man. They have no idea. Being ignorant gets you nowhere.

  • Fucking AGREED! Skateboarding is NOT a crime! LEAVE ALL SKATERS ALONE! Skateboarding is a normal sport, LIKE ALL OTHER SPORTS! We have the right to ride skateboards around! Its something we LOVE so leave us SKATE!

Check out my channel if you agree with me! SUB!

    Thanks!

  • ur right

  • хорошо

  • ahhh nuts

  • your a total fucking idiot for not getting it. skateboarding itself is illegal, so when the fuckin sidewalk, which is perfect for skating has signs that say no skating, its just like a tennis court having a sign that says no tennis.

the ad is clever, youre a dumbass

  • this is a funny asss commercial. i dont get y its illegal for riding a piece of wood with wheels around. if u bail, then their responsible. but you could also be riding your bike and fall, and be responsible for that too. u know what i mean?

  • Yess i love this spot xD

  • yeah but the whole point is that the court, like the curved bits of concrete for skaters, is PERFECT for tennis - but then they aren't allowed to use it. I think the ad is really clever.

  • haha

  • damn!!! what a good comercial

    its so fucking true

  • yea what if...

  • thats so true

  • Hold your horses there macenroe! fucking priceless!!

  • like we think a city was made to be skated cuz i jst think it was thts y we skate it jst like tennis players play at tennis courts. im a street skater ppl dont knw tht i dont do vurt i mean i can yea but i like the street thts y i also hate ppl who say go to a skatepark they jst dont understand and vurt skaters ur cool 2 dont get me wrong

  • im a longboarder i have to do it in the streets cause thats longboarding.downhill speed and carving.if i find a big pool that would be sweet.but my skatepark just has rails.anyways nike sucks they dont care about us only for money.wait 4 years when skating dies down and goes udnerground they will ditch us

  • your sadly mistaken, skaters have been using nikes shoes since the 80's, when nike figured it out they decided to capitalize on that and started making shoes specifically for skateboarding

  • ya but thats because there werent much skate shoes for skaters to use.u had like vans and couple other choices besides nike?nike never got this involved intuill now.and when they ditch us people will be liek wtf why they do that and will be all sad but big companies can care less about skating.they just need a profit.

  • yeah dude fuck modern business practice.

    only capitalist hogs need income

  • skating isnt gonna die in 4 years lol

  • its not gonan die but when skating isnt mainstream anymore nike will ditch us.just wait and watch there in this for the money.

  • well no shit there in it for the money haha

if i was nike i would ditch skating when it dies out

  • Comment removed

  • na skating will be undergroudn again once YOU guys leave.and once nike quits fantasizing about being a hardcore company.btw its a damn username.i can make it as gay as possible its not even my name.nice stereotyping buddy thats what skating has becoem to now i guess. a stereotypical label and a fashion.

  • Comment removed

  • i removed my comments cause its not worth arguing with you, you're entitled to your opinion

  • i doubt skating will stop being mainstream but nike is obviously in it for the money but they do have a good point in this commercial though

  • @DigitalL3gend Every company is in it for the money. I hate to break it to you. As far as i'm concerned Vans is just as corporate as Nike SB. Well maybe not quite as corporate.. but you get what I'm saying

  • @danthefave true, of course in order for companies to survive they need to keep money flowing, sad but true.

but there are plenty of companies that are in it for far more than money, take stereo skateboards for example, they have only so many people working there and they all have a love for skateboarding and art. i'd much rather give up money to a company owned by people who skate (Stereo, Girl, Zero, Lakai, Fallen) then to a bunch of corporate assholes

    only cory kennedy deserves respect

  • so true, me and some friends got told to move and we where in the street in the city minding our own buisness, it was a sunday so not many people or cars and boom out of no where a security gaurd... grr

  • why does everyone hate skaters? i cant even skate at my favorite spots anymore because people throw stuff at me and call the cops when i havent done anything wrong! skaters are just like everybody else, but when they get on a board there criminals. why?

  • its because people are afraid that we are going to get hurt at spots and sue them or that we are going to wreak their property. Its bullshit if i get hurt at a spot the last thing i think of is suing someone.

  • same here! if i brake a bone skating the first thing i think is get me to the hospital, not sue these people and ruin there buisness or whatever.

  • no do that after uve had the hospitall trip

    haha

  • I don't think you skate..Skaters aren't violent.Skaters are people from all walks of life, so just like any large group of people, there's gonna be jerks, losers, violent people, etc.But the majority of skaters are actually very openminded, nice people. When I go skate, the connection I feel with my friends around me is incredible!Like I said, people of all walks of life skate. But when we're skating, we're all the same. We treat eachother equal, I'd say we're doing better than most of the world.

  • @steezbucket dude, you made me cry !!

  • @steezbucket well said homie !!!

  • @steezbucket 4REAAAAALLLL!!!

  • @steezbucket

     A fucking men

  • @steezbucket greatest.comment.ever.

  • @BosToNsiKEsT Bahaha! Too kind, too kind(:

  • Comment removed

  • im sorry i dont really know about skaters

  • im not jew eiether. please dont judge me so quickly

  • Believe it or not! The guy that says run ashley run, lives in our town and sometimes is a substitute teacher in our school, he is like the coolest guy ever

  • haha nice

  • nike fuck off

  • no way nike is the best

  • what sign

  • 0:19 sublim.

  • No somethings wrog with the vid.

  • i saw some subliminal shit

  • exactly what skateboarders go through

  • skateboarding is taking over the world one human at a time....theres a skater in everyone of us...

  • are you saying everyone skates? i think most people hate us skateboarders from what ive experienced and seen.

or are you referring to posers?

  • Very meaningful and hilarious! Haha

  • what sign? lmao :D

  • lol the way he throws down his racket at the beginning, AH NUTS!

  • i saw these commercials when i started skating and i loved them, skateboarding is alot more tolerated now but back in the day omg.....terrible how we were treated

  • this videos kinda stupid because we dont get in trouble for skating in skateparks do we

  • I think they are referring to like street skating

  • yeh but theyre doing it in a tennis court which is made for tennis and we dont get kicked out of skatparks made for skating do we!

  • tennis player dont get kicked off the streets, do they!

  • We do, alot.

  • i did

  • what the hell are you guys talking about? this doesn't have anything to do w/ politics!

  • Nike should make these commercials on like cable or something so everyone can see them! Then skaters wouldnt get so much shit

  • People in this country are too conservative to care, and too liberal for it to have a lasting impact, we need a balance

and I wish people could accept more "activities" as sports, because they are

  • Hold yer horses there MacEnroe!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh THATS THE BESR SHIT IV EVER SEEN FUCKING RIGHT

  • fuckin jokes

  • dood dat wuz da best vid ive ever seen on youtube

  • this is egxactly the shit i go through with bmxing they will make the perfect handrail and no one will be any were nere it and theyle kick us out for "vandilising there stair set"

  • regardless of nike's motives it does put accross a positive message that shoud get people thinking

  • Everyone watching this should read Thomas Frank's "One Market Under God"-in it, he talks about how Nike marketers in the late 90s had trouble selling products to skateboarders, because they thought of Nike as the "man." So they made these commercials aligning themselves with the skateboarders AGAINST the man (the police, society), and the shoes were a hit. Just another example of how subcultures can be swallowed up by dominant society.

  • man i know nike is like a big company but......they got sick shoes! its a love hate thing. but im still skating away from the popo in my dunks so im stickin it to the man

  • lol, yeah, I guess we've got to compromise sometimes, right?

  • well. it doesn't matter. Phil Knight didn't answer Michael Moore about his sweatshops in other countries, business is business. This is how things are

you think skateboarders care? they will, if they haven't already that there difference makes them special. They are going to be looked like this for a while, so be proud

but i agree that they do this to get them money

  • thomas frank should do better research. nike failed at this attempt to break into the sk8 market with this. only recently have they been successful, and with a much different strategy. this is 10 years old. i loved this commercial back in the day!!

  • Hey warelephent....Thomas Frank acknowledged that Nike failed with making huge profits, but it's just that Nike tried to incorporate subcultures that is kind of creepy, you know? And this commercial was shown during the X-games too. I think it failed cause there just aren't that many skateboarders out there, so profits won't be huge. I love this commercial too but I think it's ridic for Nike to positioning themselves as against the "man" when they are a huge corporation.

  • aren't that many skateboarders? are you serious? theres sooo many skaters now!

  • yeah!

  • skate bording rulez fagget ass people out there who hate skaters..skate bordin is the hardest sport out there hands down, its also fun u fagget jocks dont feel the love us skaters do

  • hell yea!!!

  • fuck yeah dude :D

  • your a fuckin cunt
