Why do they always have to put the Panzer VI "Tiger" (=Tiger tank) in these movies? The Nazis build over 35.000 tanks (12.000 StuG III, 8.500 Panzer IV, 6.000 "Panther" are the "top 3") and only 1.350 of them were Tiger tanks, so just about 3,5% of the entire german tank fleet... still, Band Of brothers was pretty damn awesome, no doubt.

i visited Brecourt Manor (site of the 101st normandy drop zone, and "prisoner slaying") he did not give them smokes and he did not visously murder them, they came sprinting out of the manor and he defensively put a whole stick clip in them, someone (to this day unnamed) saw all the dead without weapons and jumped to conclusions.... this is the greatest generation ever to live

Everything about this show was historically accurate. Speirs really did kill another American solider, and was going to be looked into by a Captain but he died the next day in battle. POW's were killed by Speirs, and he did run through the line. People say they didn't shoot him because they either thought he was a medic (since shooting medics back then wasn't allowed under the Geneva) or one of their own. Since the snow and what not covered a lot of their clothing it was hard to tell.

I think that clip from the end of breaking point sums up Speirs as appropriately as anyone can. He never confirmed or denied any of the stories about him. He took the truth with him to his grave. If nothing else, respect him for that.

But more obviously, he can and should be respected for actions in battle which have been verified that he undertook. (the fourth howitzer at Brecourt Manor and his charging through enemy-held Foy, twice)

what they did not show in B.O.B was a action of Speirs crossing over the river Rijn ( Batle of Arnhem operation Market Garden September 1944 ). He was the only person who had the guts to do it, he crossed the rivver in a small rubber boat. When he arrived he scanned the area for targets as a scout and went back to his compagny again. Got shot in the ass @ the back way some ppl says by his own men.

Speirs was a real life BADASS!! Sgt Lipton was witness to Speirs running into Foy, contacting company I and then running back through the Germans again.

Speirs had a superhuman aura about him, as if he didn't fear death, so the men invented all sorts of rumors about him: he supposedly killed a bunch of POWs after giving them cigarettes; he shot one of his own men for disobeying an order. The men believed in Speirs; they feared him, but they respected his leadership.

Russia shot their own. the problem with shooting prisoners is that if the enemy finds out you're doing it then they don't surrender as easily. In Iraq we knew what they would do to us if they caught us and surrender was never an option.

Spiers did, in fact, shoot the POWs and his own man for being drunk and refusing to go on patrol. Winters said he understood why Speirs shot his own man but wouldnt have done that himself. I agree that Speirs was an incredible soldier and we were lucky to have him on our side. I admire him greatly!
