  • Olds engines really like split pattern cams. I have an Erson Hi-Flow IIH in my 69 400 motor and the bottom is a little soft but when that thing hits 3500 rpm the tires can't hold it anymore. It pulls hard right up to 5800 rpm. The diameter of the rod journals is pretty large so there's a lot of bearing speed above 6200 rpm. Keep it below that and they'll take tons of abuse.

  • well now I have to go and change my pants cause I just came in them.

  • are they flat top pistons or dished?

  • A 455 bored .40 over is 463 cubic inches you gain approximatly 2 cubic inches for every 10 thousands overbore.

The 455 Olds is a fairly available engine to find and even with a mild build will hit 500 ft lbs of torque at around 3500 RPM and maintains that to 5500 to 5800 RPM, It will move whatever its in fast if you can get that power to the ground without roasting your tires.

  • what kind of olds might have hosted a 463?

  • Hmmm I been trying to guesstimate what my car might run. I guesstimated my horsepower at 550 and torque to match. I to have a 463 1.25:1 but with a torker manifold. same 850 Holley but my cam is a lunati .539/.555 lift 284/292 duration and a 3680 lb car. So hopefully my HP TQ is higher than I estimated to and i estimated high 11's but was hoping at least 12's Which isn't bad for a STREET CAR. Gonna have to wait till next spring though to find out what she'll run.

  • @VDragulaV I have that same grid cam man, look at my vid I just got her to turn over in the car... the vid is " 1974 oldsmobile cutlass 4-4-2"

  • Luv Olds Evey Sense Took A Ride in a 67 Cutless/331/4bbl motor It Never Seemed To Hit Top-end,It never Stopped pulling,We Quit Before That Mpotor Did Good Times

  • like the video to the point engine sounds good!!

  • hey jt69442, what grind is that cam?

  • @pune51 its a comp cams extreme energy hydraulic roller 42-433-9 Duration 290/296, Lift .515/.533,

  • @jt69442 i got a crane F-248/3334-2-8

  • @jt69442 is that the advertised duration or the @.050"

  • this engine is only 9.5:1 compression very streetable never runs hot and tears the quarter up in a 3900lb car in 11.3

  • The horsepower was estimated this engine with a 850 cfm Holley hp carb was acually dynoed at 575hp 613 ftlbs tq

  • I wish my alarm clock sounded like that

  • Olds engines are not about horsepower they are about torque and lots of it early at lower rpm.

This motor should produce 500 plus ft/lbs of torque at around 3500 to 4000 rpm (that is some serious shit)

    So you can stop LOL

A well built Olds engine is a serious contender; Don't under estimate what they can do.

  • I agree with you...I have a 355 rocket that slays most chevy "trailer queens" and then I drive mine home!!! now that funny...let them LOL on that!!!!

  • @eewood455 olds rev high too!so u get the low rpm torque and the high rpm hp!its the best of both worlds!

  • try 850 hp 739 torque Oldsmobile vid.

    Is that better?
