Beautiful song from YUSUFCatStevens, his voice sounding so wonderful. Of course he is now YUSUF or Cat Stevens, and does not use the name Islam for stage work. He works for PEACE, only.
I love all of his songs and the way he was always searching ... I am glad that he has found peace. One thing I wonder about is his family. I would like to know more about them. I have read a little but nothing really interesting. I have learned a lot about Islam from his newer songs. i was surprised to find out that they believe that Jesus and Moses were also prophets like Allay. Didn't mean to get into the religion part, was just wondering about his family.
im going through this right now with a girl that i love, she put me down like nothing. i know i wont be with her forever. but to throw love out like she did is... unexplainable. its difficult to see her smile at life when all i can do is cry.
i agree, cat had such power and emotion in his music, his instruments were a 3rd arm, and part of his soul, and i miss that, and the orgasmic parts in his songs!! but none the less still happy he is back, i will take him any way he comes
there are other reasons i guess..like he is now 65 old..when i listen to wild world ..or peace train..live..man, i got shivers..too much power and energy..outstanding!!..now he sings very quitly..and it makes me angry that i can not fall on the same cat stevens..but loll it s not because he s weaker or less talented i don t know what to say..i think we should not expect from artists who were icons in teh seventies to give us what they use to share with us..things are what there are :(
yes i do agree with you matthewmuhammed when u said that u prefer the music of cat stevens than yusuf islam..but personally i would notice that it's not beacause he converted into islam that i douesn't sound the same to my ears..but i believe that he was in a specific time..and a specific environment..even paul Mc cartney..michael jackson..satana..etc can't do the same quality of music..and even in the industry of cinema..al pacino..de niro..etc :)
It seems like a traditional love song between two people but it is in fact about the disappointment and sadness that all Cat Stevens fans felt with his departure from the music business. In fact Yusuf ´s lyrics cry out from the fans point of view, not his...
As "Cat" he had fire and passion in his music. As Yusuf, he has the same voice that i love but without the fire and passion. He used to get "into" his music, or maybe it got into him. Either way, his youth far surpasses his middle age, music-wise. As Cat, he was the worlds greatest.
We just have a wonderful messed up family, where the family of Khan and Rosenberg enjoys each other to get together to party, to celebrate together and to welcome new persons into our family. When it does not work our, both sides are still there for each other, Muslims and Jewish persons all together when something happens in the family that splits a husband and wife. But our family still all has each other. We pray for World Peace and CoExistance.
Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan and Paul Mc Cartney are the best musicians the world has seen. Cat Stevens is has lyrics on par with Dylan and musicianship beyond my understanding.
Certain on his road but understanding and considerate of the other roads through the forest. He has a mystical side to him that has traveled Mathew..don't worry certainty certainly doesn't stop reflection and respect.
I keep finding these older Cat Stevens jems here on U-tube. Love this mans work both past and present. Nobody even close to his genius and I doubt if there ever will be.
He's an artistic gift to the world. I do prefer his music as Cat Stevens than Yusuf Islam, personally. Something about the gentle, searching Cat Stevens stirs my soul more than the convinced, confident, and believing Yusuf Islam. Something about his absolutely certainty of his religious beliefs has always rubbed me the wrong way. It may be just the way he presents it, but he has seemed to mellow out over the years and is now recording 'secular' music with his guitar again, so that's good.
@MatthewMuhammad I like both of his types of music but I do prefer his music that is not about the Muslim faiths but not because its about Muslims I just prefer his nice music about life like this song here. And his new album is excellent! One of his songs he wrote about Muslim beliefs thats one of my favs tho is A is for Allah.
I loved Cat - no comment on the perverted version!

This song, and more importantly Father (from this album) are his cry out to God..his pain, his love, his plea..
I cry so much when I listen to this album..but i cannot stop listening. Oh Lord...
"Because it gets so cold and lonely here
I'll do anything
To sit on a little rock with you
Talk about the scheme of things
On a small rock with you"
PLEASE..
