I milled some camshafts for a Saab B engine for Folkrace (Scandinavian budget rallycross) in an 4 axis bedmill, with a Sandvik 390 mill 32mm diametre. With Surfcam for programming.
The surfaces where then grinded with a grinding stone in the spindle.
Now, i did not know anything about ramps in the profile, so i did not add any, but the camshafts worked really well. But i am not shore about life expectancy due to no ramps.
It's disappointing to see that people are just using software to design and NOT their own knowledge and/or experience. Everything is done for them! How easy is that...
