  • send a fax?

  • Love that music. AT&T may have tried to bring all that to us in 1993, but they got bought up by SBC and BellSouth in 2005.

  • You will... In 20 years!

  • LOL an hd, touch screen, CRT MONITOR! XD HAHAHAHAHA

  • woooow at&t knows the future?

  • All of course under AT&T absolute control.

  • seems legit... but i never sent a fax in my life, and probably never will

  • That tablet has an analog antenna :P

  • The predictions are accurate, the technology however, is not. Look at that last device to send a fax. It uses an analog antenna!

  • @larewwedxhhh19 It's not very far off though.

  • 18 years ago, and they predicted it so accurately

  • WOW ACCURATE

  • wow. really damn accurate. I love this commercial.

  • Too bad they didn't say anything about Bandwidth Caps...

  • wow, this is accurate! Compare with the British 1980s-1990s TV show "Tomorrows World" and you'll see what we brits had to put up with.

  • Faxes are not outdated. Sometimes a fax can reach a company's attention faster than an email. It can even be more convenient than sending an email attachment because a fax you can just send the document and the receiver will have the document printed out as oppose to an email attachment that needs to be attached to an email and than opened onced received and then print to get a hard copy.

  • @oozie1379 shut the fuck up you old fuck and die already im FUCKING sick of your old technogical bullshit

  • @wafflesan1 Don't be so pitiful. You're only making it worse for yourself.

  • @oozie1379 I couldent understand you with that cock in your mouth bitch

  • lolz. nobody really faxes anymore...

  • ''The adjustment bureau''

  • Who the heck are AT&T?

  • @granqza please tell me you're not that stupid. at&t is a phone company

  • @TheDevonrusso AT&T has phone, cable and internet. It's called AT&T Uverse.

  • Wow that was very accurate! ... with the exception of it is an email/txt message and not a fax from the ipad. Lets hope Samsung can use this as evidence in their defence of their Galaxy tab agaisn't Apple who claims they invented the tablet. Clearly this was already invisioned. And AT&T did provide this 15 years later with 3G too

  • took a damn long time.. Why So long damnit???

  • that girl is HOT! 0:07

  • WTF!

  • 19 dollARS to send one fax

  • Comment removed

  • i lolled how the ipad like thingy had a antenna!

  • pretty good prediction!!

  • Make a fax... There's an app for that.

  • Toooom Selleck!!

  • what the hell is a fax?!

  • @FuzShock lol thats funny because fax is so out dated

  • @Goldenfury12 sigh, but people still use it, I wish the convert the documents to pdf or xml.

  • I totally forgot about this one.. Total flashback! awesome

  • It's so funny 'cause I remember seeing that commercial and thinking, "WOW, that'll be awesome!"

    And they were right :-)

  • Ipad3 will have fax support?

  • who needs a damn fax - email attachments and text messages

  • fax from the beach. If I am going to the beach I am damn sure not taking work with me.

  • Tom Sellec's voice?

  • WoW!! I watched this video my smartphone....imagine that...

  • @CV02LenKagamineCV02 "A little more futuristic looking"? I would say the present is more futuristic-looking than this video. How about "watching this video about the future on the beach!"

FAX was the high water of tech for those without the imaginative vision to see what the future could be - remember in Back to the Future II's 2015? McFly gets fired, and FAXES come out of a FAX machine in every room?

  • @zuknot they just didn't want to say email otherwise people wouldn't know what they were talking about

  • PDFs via Email outweigh faxing today, unless your company is still living in the 90's.

  • They didn't mention porn at all.

  • In 1993 I was :stopping/starting machines in an industrial plant via a truck phone from 80 miles away, patching phone calls over 2 meter, using computer to update management practice in real time.

  • god bless att.

  • I sent a fax from the beach, then it got intercepted by hackers, and now all my money got wiped out of my bank account.

  • @vlogsmack LMFAOOOO... I'm sorry for laughing... But DAMN! That is some funny shit! haha

  • @vlogsmack LMFAOOOO... I'm sorry for laughing... But DAMN! That is some funny shit! haha

  • @vlogsmack You made my freakin' day XD''''''''

  • @AmzitheSoldier Get hacked? You will...

  • classy, elegant commerical, from when the world was classy and elegant

  • So true kiyotewolf, Apple did bring it to us! Sorry AT&T

  • Damn... I haven't seen this commercial since high school. I totally remember this ad...

  • strictly speaking, that person was just sending an email to a fax machine :p

  • Is that Tom Celic narrating? LOL

  • You can send a fax from the beach, but you can't make a phone call..... That's At&t

  • have u ever watched internet porn when ur wife or girlfriend was out of the house ? you will

  • @SuperFireman1980 Yep. lol

  • What's a "fax"?

  • When the day comes when I am in Europe and I can make love to my wife who is in America....then that's the day I want to leave this God forsaken planet.

  • You can send a fax from the beach, but its fax through email system where you can receive faxes through your email and send faxes as attachments and it prints out to a fax machine

  • Faxes still used in hospitals/pharmacies today. Also important business documents (when hardcopy is needed) are still faxed.

  • @Nalenec yes, but more and more these places are asking now for scanned images uploaded as either jpgs or pdf files.

  • i cant get any phone reception anywhere how can you say that

  • who the fuck uses fax machines anymore? its 2011. not 1990. Now we have email and texting. If u wanna send a file u scan it and then email it. Only people stuck n the past and not aware of modern technology would use a fax machine. so this is not a view of the future.

  • @chris978820 I kind of know what you mean. It pissed me off when trying to get something online and they want you to seand a fax of what you want and how much. Why cant I just call and get it or email ?

  • @chris978820 this commercial is from 1993! lol

  • @Phonik i know

  • @chris978820 ebooks, dashboard GPS, Tablet computing? This is from 1993 - I'd say it's a pretty accurate view of the future.

  • @pensacolanate Good job. I never said it wasn't an accurate view of the future. Read my first comment again. I only mentioned that not many people use a fax machine anymore. I know the last sentence may seem like I was talking about the entire video but since I only mentioned the fax machine I thought t was ovious enough that when i said "this is not a view of the future" I was only talking about the scene with the fax machine.

  • @pensacolanate Tablet computing has been around since the late 80s. In fact, this commercial was trying to push AT&T's EO Personal Communicator, a tablet with a wireless modem AT&T introduced that year. The technology was there in the 90s: it was just ugly and expensive.

  • @chris978820 faxes are still largely used in the business world. although more often now they ask for scanned images instead

  • @watermelli1980 I know. but they arent used as much as they were in the 90's since everyone has an email address. some people even make new email addresses for their job only so they can email everything. In the 90's before email was popular people would often fax people everything.

  • Wow, I remember this commercial...They were pretty much spot on here, weren't they?

  • we now have all of those things, but better versions.

  • Envisioning of the future, back then

  • Have you ever tethered your iPhone to a PC ? you will ... but at&t Won't bring it to you

  • The first iPad lol

  • We are now living in the future.

  • All of that came! Except AT&T didn't bring it to us...

  • @jacobdongon no it was ge all so apple buy it tec they make nothing if you take a part the iphone you will see many brand chips in the pcb

  • @jacobdongon Apple, Various Cable Companies and a few software companies were those who brought it to market, but AT&T Research and Development Labs were working on the chipsets that make it all possible back in the early 90s.

  • Have you ever gotten involved, again, in an expensive needless war? You will....

  • lol fax

  • TV PLASMA

  • Answers to the questions:

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Hell no, no one cool faxes anymore, idiot

  • like to spend out the ass for cell phone you will and will and will

  • They were pretty spot on about the future... except the whole "AT&T being worth its weight in shit" part.

  • @Mbash93

Yeah. Really. If they thought tablet PC's with wireless communication capability, GPS navigation systems and Online books were the shit, why didn't they ultimately control those markets? It almost makes no sense. Good vision, but piss-poor execution of the plan. This is just marketing propaganda. Kind of like today's 'green movement', they may have the right concept, but they won't be the ones to execute the plan. Someone else will step in and own it. Free-Markets are great.

  • its funny, being how AT&T didn't give me any of that

  • iPad!!! @ :15

  • ok at&t, now predict that in 20 years mcdonalds will stop serving crappy food! :D haha... yeah right, that won't even happen in 40 years.......

  • 0:19 So that's how the iPad looks like in the 90s!

  • I guess the word "E-Mail" was not nearly ubiquitous as the word "Fax" back then. Plenty of people send e-mail or text message from the beach, but nobody sends faxes from the beach.

  • @RaminHAL9001

Correct. Concept is right, terminology is just rephrased. Actually people now just 'Twitter' or 'Facebook' or 'Live Blog' from the beach. Even good ol' E-mail is somewhat Archaic these days.

  • Damn...I remember this commercial!

  • And the company that will bring it to you, is Apple Inc.

  • @kiyotewolf didn't we most of us walk into an AT&T store to buy our first iPhones?

  • @kiyotewolf Darn straight! AT&T just likes to get it's tentacles in there.

  • @kiyotewolf

well ...... iPad is one of the best so far .... but Dell has been makin tablets since 2003 ....

  • @kiyotewolf I WAS THINKING THE EXACT THING!!!

  • @kiyotewolf You mean "And the company that wont make it a pain in the ass for you to use this new technology, is Apple Inc."

  • @kiyotewolf sadly

  • @kiyotewolf genial comment man!

  • @kiyotewolf FUCK you apple fanboy faggot. Google will bring all this FOR FREE

  • @wafflesan1 God sounds like someone is a little butthurt. Geez, calm down dude.

  • @flybydeath you know what FUCK you

  • @wafflesan1 Yep your very butthurt, I suggest you go to the store and buy some cream.

  • It doesn't count as a prediction when the company that controls the technology makes it happen.

  • Fax support in ipad3 plox.

  • @exposed97

Kindle is just an electronic book..nothing else.

  • mmmm, tasty little microchips.

  • 1st: Ebooks, 2nd: GPS, 3rd: iPad and every other tablet

  • This is so weird how close they are to the now.

  • I remember this commercial in 1993. I remember thinking the first time I saw the UPS guys with those archaic tablets that - it was the pad mentioned in this video. AT&T brought the IPod and IPad. Then the E-reader. I remember thinking - "who would watch a computer screen to read a book?"

  • from a beach?? WHAT THE FAX!!!

  • @AT&T make some new predictions, please!!

  • @kristianheidi Watch "Transcendent Man" for a look into the next 20 years

  • GPS and iPad predicted.

  • All that and reversi for only $99. Oops, wrong video....

  • 18 years later, and I still can't send a fax from the beach. I am disappoint.

  • @Sejr Because barely anymore uses faxes anymore.

  • @sparksbleeder

That was kind of meant to be the joke. Lol.

  • @Sejr Why not? I can =)

  • @Sejr texting lol

  • @Sejr Uh, you can make a phone call from the beach, take a picture and send it from the beach, and work on a high-end computer from the beach. And also, you could send a fax from the beach, it would be pretty easy to do; Touchscreen computer loaded with ancient fax software, and a phone hook up. Nobody would do that, faxes are obsolete!

  • @Sejr yeah you can you use toilet paper instead of copier paper

  • @Sejr lol you need an Android phone sir

  • @Sejr

    You can send emails...

  • @Sejr yes you can!!

  • And Tom Selleck narrating...

  • Check out that IPAD LOL

  • Funny, I remember this ad. At the time I thought this was rediculous but it was on the money right down to the iPad simulation. Nice post!

  • @beerbandit1 that's legit

  • AT&T? APPLE for sure.. LoL

  • They were pretty accurate about the future.

  • I invented Buffalo Wild Wings...woopee..see ME Posting on YOUTUBE?!

  • they predictied the internet, gps, ipad and TEXT MESSAGE wow

  • @thesailormercury1 the internet was around in 1993.

  • They were right with the technology. It's just that they didn't invent any of them.

  • They ben holdinq out on us lol

  • bull. not just AT&T liars

  • mind = blown

  • wow

    they knew

  • hmmm... a fax at the beach? TEXT MESSAGE.

  • they didnt lie that was a ipad he had at 0:18 LOL

  • @quakj wow holy fuck the shape and size is completely right...and it works the exact same way

  • Look at those graphics on the GPS, WOW!

  • someone please tell me it's fake!! that's creepy!

  • @roger62383 Not a fake. The people who had that ad made were working in the industry that developed all those things. It's not so weird that they knew what was coming.

  • Fuck AT&T

  • if u tried to send a fax with AT&T all that would happen is a send failure would come back lol

  • I just watched it from my iphone :))

  • 1: Yes, ipad and android allows you to buy and read books online

2: Google streetview or google earth

3:Dont know what a fax is, but you can use bluetooth or wifi to send messages

  • holy shit a ipad!

  • the service sucked then too

  • Most of items shown in this clip have been used by us nowdays!

  • LOL I remember those bloody commercials, thinking they were the shit.

  • The only thing AT&T invented was the dropped call....

  • @ryano2099 or "NO NETWORK"

  • @ryano2099 I think you're confusing AT&T with Verizon.

  • @ryano2099

Actually AT&T's landlines were pretty damned reliable.

  • Lol everything was correctly predicted save the last line...

  • REALLY??? Can I do it from my brick cellular phone that is powered by my model T car?

  • hmmm....all those thing are primitive shit....

  • Is it just me or at 0:01-0:06 and 0:17-0:23 look like primitive versions of the iPad? No wonder AT&T got the iPhone first, Steve Jobs was probly paying them back for stealing their ideas lol.

  • Atleast they were on point with all that stuff coming out..not so sure about AT&T doing the work...

  • that GPS had some nice graphics. damn

  • @BroyhillVideo way ahead or are time

  • By the time the tech was here faxes died.

  • Lol, AT&T was so optimistic.
