They are not making a sequel because of money issues and because the first one did not live up to their profits. The trailer that was shown was all parts of the first movie just put together in another way. And didn't u notice that it didn't say the golden compas 2 or what the book is called at the end?

actually the Golden Compass was the best in the entire trilogy. If it hadn't ended with Lord Asriel killing Roger, it could've been a regular book. Pullman really messed up with the subtle knife and the amber spyglass. He ened the third book so terribly ...
