  • This video went viral on South Sudan

  • @ohnniehickm24j

Could you explain what you mean?

    Thanks

  • when u can afford to let your car run for no reason while you fiddle with the lug nuts you have way to much money and need to share!

  • This is my laptop backround, badass nova man.

  • what size tires and rims do you have on yours i cant go above a 15

  • @x74novax Sorry man i can't remember and I don't have the car with me at the moment to check. I think it's a 14 inch wheel if i remember right.

  • about how much did you spend on the engine?

  • @Vandalsqd0068 1700 or 1900 for a rebuilt long block. I don't remember the exact price.

  • Beautiful ride dude

  • are those 1972 bumpers? cause i wana do that conversion on mine.

  • car sounds good, where did you locate your cowl induction hood from ?...i have a 73 nova as well, and i seem to only find 2' and really want the 4'' cowl.any help would be awsome, thankyou !!

  • @frosty116 got mine from summit racing its a harwood hood

  • is that a gm 400 or a after market 400 i have a 4bolt main gm 400sbc and im planning to bore it .040 do you think that would be to much for it? should i leave it like it is and just put in new piston 6'' rods and a stroker crank?

  • @jeromeb619.

.040 over is about the max on the stock gm 400 block, i've seen people take em out to.060 over, but they are drag racing only and theres no gurantee how long it will last. The blocks are a lot "thinner" on the inside than a 350. If you plan on running a 6 in. rod, be prepared to do spend some time/money at the machine to have the block clearanced. .30 over with stock crank and and slightly longer "350 length rods" is a good combination. stock 400 rod "5.56" stock 350 rod "5.7".

  • @Rob3331996 im willing to spend the money but i got the info from someone and they said sence im not really raceing i should just have it bored .30 do 6'' rods with a strocker crank from scat as far as the pistons idk yet but i ran across speed pro tho

  • @jeromeb619 personally i would bore it til it was smooth and leave it, there are alot more ways of makng power other than boring one out

  • @jeromeb619 don't go .040 over unless you have too. i rebuilt the same block twice and had to go out to .040 over the second time. i ran it in an 86 monte on the street and ran very well. if you do go .040 over and run it on the street make sure you have a good cooling system.

  • @rodman23t yeah i thought bout it and said i was gonna stick with goin .30 but i got lucky tho and found a .30 over 327 at the junk yard im not sure what type of crank it is but the guy had a comp cam extreme energy 507./510lift cam in it with done up gm heads but i guess he didnt know how to set the cam up cus one of the lobes was completely wiped out with others starting to go

  • ever take it to the track if so what times?

  • @montecarloman92

Took it once and didn't pass inspection. Need to upgrade on brakes. It has the power just not the right gearing. Thing is a slug taking off the line. I wouldn't expect very good times.

  • I'm looking to build a mild 400 for my 84 silverado and was wondering is the motor stock other than what you had listed above?I already have the motor it's out of a 1980 camper special and supposedly only has around 70,000 miles on it.Any input would be appreciated.

  • He's not over carbed. It all depends on the specs of his cam, head flow, intake velocity, torque converter stall, weight of the car, gears, max rpm and what he's going for over all. I'm running a pro systems 840 cfm double pumper on my 383 and it pushes over 530hp at the flywheel with great throttle response.

  • @frostbittenwaffle whoowhoo thats alot of fuel :D

  • hows tha 3" pipes with the mild 400ci?any torque lose?

  • @philthyco: I'm guessing you mean torque loss and I wouldn't know because i put a completely different engine in it when i did the exhaust.

  • @elblako91 whats in it now?

  • @philthyco 400

  • @elblako91 Hey I was just wondering what size tires and wheels you are running, I am putting one together and not sure what to go with, like your set up.

  • nice nova. my dream classic car.

  • hey i have 400 sb that i was going to put in my 85 camaro and i was wondering what kind of horsepower these engines where rated at?

  • @mikewashere01 150 to 265 hp

  • put on a 650 or 700 carb... your over carbed

  • how did u do the bumpers to get rid of the bumper shocks and still be fitting so good. is that older year bumpers?

    thanks. jack

  • @myutube347

I made this custom plate and used it to get rid of the shocks

  • @myutube347

    thank you,

  • sounds nice what heads are on the 400.

  • @MegaDeth659

    There stock heads

  • i want that car soooo bad!

  • Wow weird i was sitting in school today on the computer(cardomain) and i found this nova! nice man i like it

  • y0. wuts the cam specs

  • That sure is a slick car.

  • Gracias.

  • lol got to love that flex fan when you rev it lol

  • Ha yeah. Damn thing has cut me so many times when wrenching on her. It's SHARP!

  • gear driven timing?

  • Nope its a chain.

  • hey wsup brodie nice ride. i also have a 400sbc bit its sitting in my 1975 chevelle laguna type s-3 and is pretty much stock. ive got an eddie performer intake and i have something like dual 2 and a half pipes from the exhaust manifold to flowmasters in the rear. i also am running an eddie performer carb which im switiching out for a rebuilt and tuned qjet soon. any tips for waking this baby up while not breaking the bank too bad.

thanks and again, nice ass car

  • What all has been done to the motor? I have the same motor just wanting a little more power and a little lope while being able to idle like that.

    Any help?

  • Man i got the same motor now i just need your car lol

  • i see you fabbed the rear and front bumper! my buddie is doing the same but did you use the 73-74 bumper and fab it or just remove the piece between the car and bumper and use a 68-72 bumper? you welded the holes but what year bumper?

  • All i did was remove the bumper shocks and made an adaptor because the holes on the bumper do not match the holes on the frame.

  • what did you use to make the adaptor?

  • Quarter in piece of steel plate that was lying in the garage.

  • My dad had a 396 motor, stroked out to a 408 in his Nova, he now has a BBC in there. Your car has got a good start, your headed in the right direction.

  • ok my dads letting me choose between 3 cars for my first a 1967 el camino, 64 impala, and 1971 ssrs camaro i chose the 1971 camaro he baught a 400 sbc and i want to put the 4 speed transmition in it but he wants to leave it automatic what would u do

  • 4 speed!

  • manual is funner, but if your racing you cant beet the auto

  • @myleskubicek no im just driving

  • get the manual for sure

  • automatic is faster, 4 speed is more fun.

  • Nice Nova mang, im thinkin about getting me a 400 soon, not too sure yet though. But just a piece of advice man, if you really want better breathing power, go with flowtech afterburners, I had the 40 series flowmasters too but when I got the burners, you really FEEL the difference. Although I agree flowmaster does sound a bit better, but flow wise, they arent the best at all. Just advice though man, no disrespect here

  • None taken. I'm always open to advice since I'm always learning. I'm in the market for a patriot 383 for it and a new tranny since i blew my stock one. :/ Keep me posted on your engine build. Good luck!

  • good job driving back the front bumper and it looks great with the rear filer removed but where did u order the hood from ???

  • Thanks. i got the hood from Summit its a harwood 4 inch cowl

  • do you go to katy highschool? i think i have seen this car around town.

  • Yeah man..

  • What size cam is in it?

  • did u take out the rear bumper filler? or maybe im just seeing things. thought about doing it myself.

  • how do u like the Edelbrock 750.. im about to put one on my sb350

  • verry nice car you got there. i got 1 myself. I upped the anti from 350 to 355 with 425 hp. you need help building power u let me know

  • Have you took it to the dragstrip to see what it would?

  • unfortunately no. I never did want to take it because it had no power brakes and all drums. I was saving money up to fix that then i could take it to the strip then the engine got shot. :/

All i know is that it throws you back. :D

  • i actually just got a 74 nova and it has a 400 and i didnt know what kind of exhaust i wanted to do but i love how yours sounds can you tell me what you all have as far as exhaust goes?

  • Thanks It starts out with Hooker competition headers that goes into 3 inch collectors and then from there i used an x-pipe and from there it goes on back to dual flow master 40 series. In order to get it deep and lumpy you would need to get a bigger cam. If I were to do it again i would get dual cutouts just for those times i want to be loud! :)

    Hope this helps!

  • Sounds awesome! How do you like your Edelbrock 750? I have a 400sbc in my 57 chevy and I'm thinking of getting the same carb as you. You can check out my 57 in my videos.

  • very clean looking. great job on the bumpers, and cool color. really dig the hood. it looks good black actually.

i've got a 74 with the straight 6, however i just got a 350 for it that wil probably go in next winter. the 6 runs pretty nice and is a fun little engine, but its hard to have a muscle car with no muscle!

  • Right on man! enjoy the six cylinder while you can. Gas is gonna drive you insane with the eight. :P

    Keep me posted!

  • Like you cam... nice thumper.. nice to see a 400 sbc running good... are does engine still externaly balanced?

  • Yup externally balanced. Thanks for the kind words.

    Peace

  • Hey, found your nova on another site and recognized it from here lol. Nice ride man. Just got my 74 home a few weeks ago. So far, just got it running (but awaiting new 430hp 355) and got wheels / tires on. What size rear wheel, BS and tires are you running?

  • how much hp

    horse power

  • I honestly dont know. Its basically stock except for the add ons i mentioned in the description. I havnt had time to dyno it. My guess would be mid to upper 300's but deff below 400.

  • Nice nova, check mine

  • can you just remove the spacers or do you have to mod the supports. I recently bought a 74.

  • Join STEVESNOVASITE(DOT)COM and search for rear bumper tuck or something similar. They have a ton of info on it.

    Good luck! -Blake

  • Is it an earlier 74'? It looks like an earlier one because it is missing the spacing in between the car and the rear bumper.

  • No. I removed the bumper shocks and tucked in the bumper for a smoother cleaner look.

  • sweet ride... i got me a 73' nova, you should think about custom grill like from 70-72'

  • my dads car is da same but its red and has a 383 he races at da ohio valley dragway i race jr. dragstres

  • might get ya a fan shroud ,, the beast might eat a finger or 2 ,, and it might run a lil cooler , Sounds mean :)

  • Yeah you don't know how sharp that thing is. I've lost count on the number of times of cut myself open while wrenching the engine.

  • nice nova i got a 71 nova

  • nice ride. my 74 looks a little like yours but a little more rough around the edges. where did you get your hood and how much?

  • Thanks. Go down a couple of comments for info on the hood.

  • which energizer cam is that? Im looking at one for my 81 camaro. Sounds great.

  • It's crane cam part number 100172.

    Hope this helps. :)

  • Sounded like my '50 chevy coupe, before I ripped it to peices.

    I'm rebuilding it.

Nice '74! It's been a WHILE since I've seen one!

  • nice car man! which Energizer cam do you have? Check mine out, I have the 274H06 in my Novas 350

  • lik what u've done to the bumpres they look nice tucked in close. i hope to do the same with mine.

  • Hey man where did you get the hood? my engine bay is getting to hot when i drive around and i want it to pull in colder air.

  • You can get them at summit or jegs.

Its a harwood 4 inch bolt on.

  • Cool, thanks bro

  • Think zaggers06 wanted to say you cant beat them 400's. Anyway nice car I love that hood and the sound of that 400 I have two of them myself.

  • I think it looks better with the cowl hood. you can beat them 400's

  • Their great engines. Stock they have gobs of torque. Thanks for the support!

    -Blake

  • @zaggers06 i thin kyou mean you CANT beat them 400s!

  • I got that hood because my mom backed into my original one. It would have cost more to fix and repair the original than to just buy a fiberglass replacement. I plan on getting a hi rise intake manifold so engine clearance will become an issue further down the road.
