  • i got a cube off the bat why do you get a square? I just downloaded blender today to make some models for unity and i must say it is very scary and non user friendly please dont let the big bad program hurt me! = O

  • @PhenomenalHeadShot is it top view?

  • i already made my cube object how do i fill it

  • COOL!!!

  • Suburf is terrible for Games!!!

  • ...Simply put, no need to go past lvl 3, the render levels can go up to 4 or higher to make it look smoother in the render, the smooth modifier also works, and press the circle to make the wireframe mesh smoother, group the main verts, and cling to the object. Same applies to 2.5+ with slight variations. You shouldn't call it "graphics" and "high definition".

  • you never should pass the 2-3 level...

  • HAHAHAHA! "that is one sweet ace monkey" only the a word

  • AT 6 MY BLENDER CRASHED!!!!! i was almost done with my m9 and i was screwing around with the subsurf

  • mine can handle 6, i think thats the max it goes to?

  • i see u play fallout 3 =D Nice

  • high definition :D lol

And anyway why should this take 1:35

  • wowo fail

  • mine went up to 6 but its very slow

  • twotorials?

  • my pc could only go to level 5

  • select the cude and press delete then enter or press x then enter

  • how do i get rid of default cube

  • that is one sweet a** looking monkey..lol

  • i got got it 2 leval 12 and the program came on the task bar bart 15 times

  • you idiot, subsurf is a effect created with a uv sphere. If you subsurf something it will for to a sphere. You notice this if you give it a very high level. It will becoma a ball...

Dont use this. Use the set smooth option.

  • its not high defenition!! its high poly!!

  • You are better off using multi res. you can still go back down to the lower levels but with a high multires you can still control the individual vertices. You can also go into sculpt mode from there and draw on complex details like in zbrush.

Since most computers cant cope with the high level sculptures I usually duplicate, one at a low level, one at a high, and bake a normal map onto the mesh.

  • That's waaay too much subsurf, lol.

  • You don't need to subsurf suzanne (The monkey) to level 3, simply set it to level 2 and use the 'set smooth' button in the edit buttons.

If you simply subsurf everything in your scene to make it look smooth, then you'll end up with a multi-million poly scene that will send ram consumption and render times through the roof.

    Nice tute tho.

  • yeah, i forgot to mention that.

this is a very good point dude. :)

  • ive added it as a quick annotation at the start

  • nice dom

  • a second great tutorial :)
